  • For the effective responsiveness toward Management Evaluation System of Public Institutions and continuous development as a public corporation, internal performance management is essential. In this study, the effect of employees' perceptions on the effectiveness and acceptability of the internal performance evaluation system on organizational commitment was tested, and we attempted to find implications for efficient performance management. For this purpose, we obtained valid responses from 208 members of A corporation and the hypotheses were verified through multiple regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, 'performance evaluation effectiveness' and 'performance evaluation acceptability' for internal performance evaluation had positive effects on 'organizational commitment'; however, the effect of 'differential performance compensation' on 'organizational commitment' was not significant. Also, among the control variables, 'age' and 'job group' were found to have a negative (-) effect on 'organizational commitment'. To derive more generalized conclusion, other researches using bigger samples are needed.

  • To provide evidence of bank's management consulting effect on client firms' performance and contribution to the bank, this study adopts Matching Sample Design and OLS regression using financial and consulting data from A Bank, which allowed us for empirically testing bank's management consulting effect on client firms. Specifically, We examine difference between ante-post performance of consulting client firms and difference between performance of consulting client firms and the other client firms. Empirical results show that management consulting by a Bank can increase interdependency, while It does not cause significant improvement of growth, activity, and profitability. This result provides further understanding of effect of management consulting by a bank on consulting client firms and some implication which banks should consider for management consulting.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the strategies and the experiences of 3 university hospitals relevant to environmentally-friendly strategy in their hospitals and to find out the implication for spreading the environmentally-friendly hospital management to other Korean hospitals. The study was progressed from October to November 2010 through the in depth interview with middle manager of the hospitals. Interview items about environmentally-friendly hospital management were selected from ISO 14001, Korean Green Management Certification Scheme, Green Guide Operation Version 2.2 of GGHC, Eco-ChecklistTM, Self-Assessment Tool of "Practice Greenhealth" and some accreditation credits of LEED, BREEAM, GreenStar. The case study result implies that the following strategies are so critical to settle environmentally-friendly hospitals in Korea: 1)understanding about fundamental concept of environmentally-friendly hospital, 2)organizing green teams, 3)purchasing environmentally-friendly goods, 4)benchmarking other successful hospitals, 5)adopting easy & reasonable policy first, 6)managing accumulated data & performance about energy efficiency, and 7)educating the employee about environmentally-friendly hospitals strategies. Hospitals have to keep in pace with the change in government policy and scheme like as GHG & Energy Target Management System, Korean Green Management Certification Scheme, ESCO, and so on for achieving the successful environmentally-friendly hospitals.

  • While buildings in recent days become taller and larger, many problems occur during the management of construction. Particularly, as the vertical movement of manpower and materials during construction has become longer while the lifting frequency and load increase, the need for a good lifting management practice is also increasing. Therefore, this study presents a real-time lifting performance monitoring system that can store and manage lifting records for construction management. Through review of literature and preceding studies related to construction lift, the concept of lift planning and operation management was understood, leading to the development of a system to monitor lifting operation and performance information. This system enabled quick measurement of the lifting performance during construction phase while responding to changes in the project schedule. To verify this system, a case study was conducted in which the current status and characteristics of the sensing-based lifting performance were derived.

  • Today's manufacturers must respond quickly to customer needs. In particular, make-to-order companies are constantly striving to satisfy customer demand for products in order to secure more favorable conditions in the future through bidding. In this bidding process, quotations play a very important role in providing favorable conditions. And the most important content that companies strive to satisfy their customers is the product's performance. Therefore, a company can attract customers and secure economic profits through good quotations, but it can be said that the first priority is to match the performance of the products requested by the customers. That is, when a company creates a quotation, it is important to structure the quotation according to the performance of the product. Thus, this paper intends to present a quotation management framework and a quotation BOM information model for constructing quotations efficiently in make-to-order manufacturing. And, in order to prove the usefulness of the proposed quotation management framework, we presents an case of the construction of an quotation management system based on the JAVA platform. As a result, the integrated quotation management system based on the proposed quotation management framework and quotation BOM has been successfully operated in a make-to-order company that manufactures marine engines.

  • One important element of a systematic approach to the management and control of the flow of people over an urban street network is the monitoring and evaluation of system performance. The nature of TSM strategies that, in part, differentiates them from traditional long-range transportation improvement alternatives is that they are less costly, are more quickly implemented and modified, and are often oriented toward sub-area problems which must be addressed at a more microscopic level of analysis. These factors suggest that pre-implementation evaluations of alternative TSM actions will often have to rely on quick-turn around, manual methods of analysis to guide the choice of which management action should be implemented. This paper was prepared to focus on the definition and importance of TSM, specifically associated with monitoring and evaluating traffic performance in the context of TSM startegies. A simple case study of reversible lane technique was presented. The purposes of the case study is to illustrate the methodology of evaluating TSM strategies and demonstrate to identify the benefit from the reversible lane technique, which may otherwise be overlooked in real world. Applying the reversible lane technique to Sam-Il elevate highway, it was found to be a very promising low cost alternative to reduce total travel time(or delay) and fuel consumption.

  • Purpose: To examine the effects of a case management program on self-efficacy, depression and anxiety in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods: Thirty-seven patients who enrolled in a diabetes outpatient clinic were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n=19) or a control group (n=18). The experimental group received a 2-week intervention composed of a series of one face-to-face interactive interview and five telephone interviews based on the National standards for diabetes self-management education and Bandura's self-efficacy resources of performance accomplishment, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and emotional arousal. The effects of the intervention were assessed by completion of a 9-item self-efficacy questionnaire, a 20-item depression questionnaire and a 20-item anxiety questionnaire prior to, and after the intervention. The statistical significances were examined using t-test. Results: The change in self-efficacy was significantly greater in the experimental group than in the control group. Depression and anxiety changes in the experimental group were significantly greater compared to those in the control group. Conclusion: The results of study suggest that a case management program improves self-efficacy, and decreases depression and anxiety in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus.

  • This study aimed to provide basic data for the national park management by analysing visitors' behavior and satisfaction determinants by importance-performance analysis and estimated regression analysis through post-occupancy evaluation questionnaire method to the Gyeongju National Park visitors. It was found that facilities and use management according to place and use group, the diversity of visit program, high quality of guidance and hospitality of staffs and conservation of historic and landscape resources for Gyeongju National Park were necessary as the results of behavior analysis, importance-performance analysis. The historic landscape resources, hospitality of staffs, visit road and safety facilities, commercial facilities were important determinants of users' satisfaction as the results of regression analysis. It suggested the characteristics of Gyeongju National Park and these factors were the most important factors for the improved management.
