  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing the retention intention of dental hygienists in clinical practice. Findings will assist in the development of strategies to increase their retention. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 261 dental hygienists who work at dental hospitals and clinics in the Jeollabuk-do area. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA (post-test Duncan), and multiple regressions. Results: The variable that demonstrated the largest influence on the retention intention of dental hygienists was purpose/meaning (${\beta}=0.283$), followed by transcendental calling (${\beta}=0.198$). These factors relate to the sense of calling. The third most influential variable was pay (${\beta}=0.150$). This relates to general characteristics. The fourth most influential factor was the frequency of emotion display (${\beta}=-0.112$), which relates to one of the sub-areas of emotional labor. Conclusions: In order to strengthen the retention intention of dental hygienists, diverse approaches should be implemented, with particular consideration for their sense of calling, emotional labor and pay.

  • In preperation for the compulsory installation of VHF(Very High Frequency) wireless equipment and fishing vessel automatic identification system according to the revision of "The Ships Safety Act" and "Fishing Vessel act", Fishery Information & Communication Department of National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives is building VHF communication network and automatic identification system for fishing vessel monitoring. This study suggests the protocol analysis for the calling of location requirement using DSC(Digital Selective Calling) function and show best way for fishing vessel automatic identification system. Also, it suggest way to realize fishing vessel monitoring system.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between calling, clinical performance, role conflict, and organizational socialization and to evaluate the factors associated with organizational socialization of new nurses. Methods: This study design was cross-sectional correlational study. The participants of this study were new nurses 171 at general hospitals in Jeollabuk-do. Data was collected between August 1 to 20, 2018 from questionnaire responses and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The average calling rating was 2.47±0.59 (rated on a scale of 1~4), clinical performance rating was 3.55±0.52 (rated on a scale of 1~5), role conflict rating was 3.29±0.59 (rated on a scale of 1~5), and organizational socialization rating 3.19±0.41 (rated on a scale of 1~5). Calling, clinical performance, role conflict, gender, and work in the desired unit were the significant factors influencing organizational socialization of new nurses. Conclusion: These findings indicate that strategies are needed to improve organizational socialization of new nurses to ensure effective management of personnel. Moreover, it is necessary to develop a program to cultivate the nursing calling, enhance clinical performance, and resolve role conflicts among new nurses.

  • This paper presents a valuation methodology for optional calling plan contracts on free-phone calls in the telephone industry. Utilization of the model is not limited to valuation and consequent decision making for the subscribers; it provides a useful guideline for telephone companies in designing calling plans and assessing subscribers' behavior.

  • This paper is to examine the effect of the receiver pays principle (RPP) on the calling price, social welfare and interconnection charge. A significant trouble with introducing this system in telecommunications pricing is the possibility that the receiving party may refuse to receive a call if the charge he has to bear is very high. We find the condition for no calls to be refused and show that the profit maximizing prices charged to the calling party and the receiving party must satisfy this condition. We demonstrate that the calling price under RPP must be lower than the price under the caller pays principle (CPP), that the profit of a firm will be increased under RPP, but that the consumer surplus will not necessarily be increased under RPP despite the lowered calling price. Also, we show that, if the demand function is linear, the reciprocal interconnection charge under RPP is higher than that under CPP.

  • Many visualization tools have been designed to aid information processing during whole genome projects. We have developed a trace viewer program, ChroView, which can read a chromatogram file and display the chromatogram traces of the four bases. The program can be used to examine sequencing quality and base-calling errors. It can also help researchers to edit and save base-calling results while browsing the traces. Additionally, this program has a basecalling feature which can produce supplementary data for validation of the results from other base-calling programs.

  • Chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with high-throughput DNA sequencing (ChIP-Seq) is a powerful technology to profile the location of proteins of interest on a whole-genome scale. To identify the enrichment location of proteins, many programs and algorithms have been proposed. However, none of the commonly used peak calling programs could accurately explain the binding features of target proteins detected by ChIP-Seq. Here, publicly available data on 12 histone modifications, including H3K4ac/me1/me2/me3, H3K9ac/me3, H3K27ac/me3, H3K36me3, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, generated from a human embryonic stem cell line (H1), were profiled with five peak callers (CisGenome, MACS1, MACS2, PeakSeq, and SISSRs). The performance of the peak calling programs was compared in terms of reproducibility between replicates, examination of enriched regions to variable sequencing depths, the specificity-to-noise signal, and sensitivity of peak prediction. There were no major differences among peak callers when analyzing point source histone modifications. The peak calling results from histone modifications with low fidelity, such as H3K4ac, H3K56ac, and H3K79me1/me2, showed low performance in all parameters, which indicates that their peak positions might not be located accurately. Our comparative results could provide a helpful guide to choose a suitable peak calling program for specific histone modifications.

  • We used structural equation modeling to analyze data from 298 high school students in South Korea to investigate the relationship between student-perceived teachers' calling and students' academic burnout and the mediating effects of student-perceived need-supportive teaching and students' basic psychological need satisfaction. The results showed that student-perceived teachers' calling was not directly related to students' academic burnout and that student-perceived need-supportive teaching mediated the indirect negative relationship between student-perceived teachers' calling and students' academic burnout. Furthermore, student-perceived need-supportive teaching and students' basic psychological need satisfaction sequentially mediated the indirect negative relationship between student-perceived teachers' calling and students' academic burnout. Implications and suggestions for future research are discussed based on these results.

  • The purpose of this article is to examine the conflicts and political implications of the various linguistic practices concerning how to call old age, and to illuminate the reasons for these conflicts in the cultural sphere. Recently, the issue of proper ways of calling old age has become problematized. As a result, new ways of addressing older people are being devised, which signifies the marginalization of old age. These new ways of calling older people, however, are not settling the problems. It is because the ageist, gender-discriminatory, status-conscious culture of Korea marginalizes the meaning of the various ways of calling old age. As the otherization of old age deepens in the cultural realm, old age becomes a site where various features of marginality accumulate. The academy and the professionals need to be aware of the political implications of the various ways of calling old age, and to strive to surmount discriminatory linguistic practices.

  • This study is a descriptive survey research aimed at exploring the relationship between nursing students' sense of calling, nursing professionalism, and ethical sensitivity. Data collection took place from September 1, 2022, to October 31, 2022, and data were collected using the IBM SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. The findings of this study indicated a positive correlation between a sense of calling and professional commitment (r=.43, p<.001), as well as a positive correlation between a sense of calling and ethical sensitivity (r=.38, p< .001). Furthermore, ethical sensitivity was found to have a positive correlation with professional commitment (r=.59, p<.001). Mediation analysis revealed that in the relationship between nursing students' sense of calling and professional commitment, ethical sensitivity acted as a complete mediator, explaining 36% of the variance. Therefore, ethical sensitivity emerges as a crucial variable influencing nursing students' professional commitment, highlighting the necessity for specific strategies to enhance it.
