  • Length of most underground power cable in nation is not so long. Therefore it is operated without conductor transposition due to low unbalanced ratio. However, if cable length is long, line constant of each cable will be different. Different line constant can induce unbalanced voltage and current of sheath. Also it can induce several induced interference. This paper describes the operation effectiveness through steady and transient analysis on transposition and untransposition of cable conductor. Especially sheath current and induced voltage are analyzed and compared in case of transposition and untransposition. EMTP is used for modeling and analysis.

  • An optimal cooling method for a long HTS power transmission cable was scrutinized by using theoretical models. Cooling length of HTS cable is determined by pressure range and temperature range of LN2 in the HTS cable. Results showed limitation from temperature range is stricter than that from pressure range. The well-known one-side cooling was modified to two-side cooling. It was shown that cooling length can be nearly doubled by adopting two-side cooling of the same capacity.

  • Construction of roof structure, cable suspended structure, for Pusan main stadium is adapted a lifting method that is VSL lifting system. 5 processes are practiced for erection of the roof structure including the first lifting process for erection of upper cables and the second lifting process for erection of lower cables. Since all cables of this roof structure with two open spelter sockets are determined their length, some cable were wrong length, he roof structure would be unstable. But, At complete of erection for the roof structure each cable is attained to theoretical tension force with average 4% errors.

  • In this paper, numerical method was calculated on evaluation of underground ventilation system to keep servicing a fresh air. The tunnel length for simulation is 18.2 km with various located seven ventilation shaft. Generally, owing to thermal generation in cable tunnel under about 50 m depths, cable tunnel ventilation system is more important than that of other tunnels. So, we conducted that the effects of ventilation systems was simulated depending on the difference of electrical power tunnel length, the number of shaft tunnel, forced ventilation and duct was or not. Test results show that the main conditions in order to enhance the underground cable tunnel are that ventilation systems have to be designed with forced ventilation and with duct.

  • This paper describes an improved analysis method for sheath circulating current on three-underground transmission cables using EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program). Author studied diversely the sheath circulating current on three-underground cables depending on the various length rate, the phase arrangement, and the grounding resistance of the sheath in the cross-bonded section. It was clear that very large circulating current is generated in cable systems due to unbalanced length rate and phase arrangement in the cross-bonded section. The analysing method for two or more underground cables will be really Improved for cable system utility.

  • Superconducting transmission power cable is one of interesting parts in power application using high temperature superconducting wire. One of important parameters in high-temperature superconducting (HTSC) cable design is transport current distribution because it is related with current transmission capacity and ac loss. In this paper, the transport current and magnetic field distributions at conducting layers were investigated through the analysis of the equivalent circuit for HTSC power cable with shield layer. The transport current distribution due to the pitch length and winding direction was improved in case of HTSC power cable with shield layer.

  • When GPS (global positioning system) is used as synchronous signal in CDMA digital cellular base station system and high speed digital synchronous communication network, antenna cable length is increased, comparing with other GPS application such as positioning or car navigation. In this paper, it is proposed that a type of new GPS antenna system including RF stage for reduction of cable loss in case of long cable. The antenna system with TMPA(truncated-corners microstrip patch antenna) is designed and fabricated because GPS signal has RHCP (right-hand circular polarization), consequently antenna size can be made small size. LNA (low noise amplifier) is designed by using HEMT(high electron mobility transistor)which has lower noise figurae and better AGC characteristics at low voltage than GaAs FET, and we equiped mixer, in GPS antenna unit, which converts from 1575.42MHz to 75.42MHz. As result of comparing between typical system and proposed system when cable length is 60m, 63dB, 55dB and 25dB gain are obtained for RG-316/U, RG-58C/U and RG-213/U, and better characteristics are achieved than typical system as far as cable length is longer.

  • This research presents an approach to simultaneously detect the faults and measure the length of the electric cables. This approach is easy to use and inexpensive. Moreover, it can be applied to any kinds and sizes of the electric cable. This paper uses 750V $4{\times}4$ Sq.mm. cables. The concept is to send the 2 kHz pulse into the electric cable. When the pulse bumps into the fault, it bounces back. Then, the total time the pulse travels back and forth and the shape of the pulse after bumping are inspected using the pulse detector and pulse converter. Next, the signal obtained is modulated with 10 MHz carrier pulse to segregate into several small pulses before sending to 8-bit counter. The length of the electric cable can be obtained using microcontroller and the location of the faults can be seen on the LCD screen. This approach can be used to inspect the electric cables with the length of at least 15 m.

  • In this study the method based on flux linkage in cell was introduced in calculation of eddy currents by cell method. According to this method eddy current distribution and the loss can be evaluated and since the shielding effectiveness by flux cancelation of eddy current can be analyzed, this method is applicable to design of conductive shield. And also the formula of shielding factor were so deduced as to be applicable to finite-width infinite-length shielding sheets and infinite-length underground cable shield. These formula are adaptable to magnetic materials as well as conductive materials. As the results of calculation in model shields are follows. In case of finite-width infinite-length shielding sheet, shielding effectiveness increases with increasing of conductivity. In case of infinite-length underground cable shield, the effectiveness become higher with increasing of permeability. Especially the effectiveness is very high in materials with both high conductivity and permeability in underground cable shield.
