  • In this paper, a simple step-stress accelerated life test (ALT) under progressive type-II censoring is considered. Progressive type-II censoring and accelerated life testing are provided to decrease the lifetime of testing and lower test expenses. The cumulative exposure model is assumed when the lifetime of test units follows an extension of the exponential distribution. Maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) and Bayes estimates (BEs) of the model parameters are also obtained. In addition, a real dataset is analyzed to illustrate the proposed procedures. Approximate, bootstrap and credible confidence intervals (CIs) of the estimators are then derived. Finally, the accuracy of the MLEs and BEs for the model parameters is investigated through simulation studies.

  • LOD scores and a permutation test for detecting and locating quantitative trait loci (QTL) from the Hanwoo economic trait have been described and we selected a considerable major BMS1167 locus for further analysis. K-means clustering analysis, for the major DNA marker mining of BMS1167 microsatellite loci in Hanwoo chromosome17, has been tried and three cluster groups divide four traits. The three cluster groups are classified according to eight DNA marker bps. Finally, we employed the bootstrap test method to calculate confidence intervals using the resampling method to find major DNA markers. We conclude that the major marker of BMS1167 locus in Hanwoo chromosome17 is only DNA marker 100bp.

  • The Pearson chi-squared statistic or the deviance statistic is widely used in assessing the goodness-of-fit of the generalized linear models. But these statistics are not proper in the situation of continuous explanatory variables which results in the sparseness of cell frequencies. We propose a goodness-of-fit test statistic for the cumulative logit models with ordinal responses. We consider the grouping of a dataset based on the ordinal scores obtained by fitting the assumed model. We propose the Pearson chi-squared type test statistic, which is obtained from the cross-classified table formed by the subgroups of ordinal scores and the response categories. Because the limiting distribution of the chi-squared type statistic is intractable we suggest the parametric bootstrap testing procedure to approximate the distribution of the proposed test statistic.

  • This paper tests empirically the causal relationship between bank loans and the monetary base before and after the adoption of inflation targeting in seven Asia-Pacific countries using Toda-Yamamoto Granger non causality test and the bootstrap test for causality. The most striking finding is that the bank loans Granger cause the monetary base during the inflation targeting period in all the countries, except Japan, which was under the influence of the quantitative easing, whereas the causality appeared diverse before the inflation targeting regime. This result implies the need for the policy makers to take the endogenous nature of the money supply into account in the modern economy.

  • The present paper develops a test of the multivariate normality based on nonlinear transformations and the likelihood function. For checking the normality, we test the shape parameter which indexes the family of transformations. A score test and a parametric bootstrap test are used to evaluate the discrepancy between the data and a multivariate normal distribution. In order to compare the performance of our test with the existing tests, a simulation study was carried out for several situations where nuisance parameters have to be estimated. The results showed that the proposed method is superior to the existing methods.

  • We describe tests for detecting and locating quantitative traits loci (QTL) for traits in Hanwoo. Lod scores and a permutation test have been described. From results of a permutation test to detect QTL, we select major DNA markers of ILSTS098 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 2 for further analysis. K-means clustering analysis applied to four traits and eight DNA markers in ILSTS098 resulted in three cluster groups. We conclude that the major DNA markers of BMS1167 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 2 are markers 105bp, 113bp and 115bp. Finally, bootstrap testing method has been adapted to calculate confidence intervals and for finding major DNA Markers.

  • In discriminant analysis, we consider an intraclass correlation pattern by principal component analysis. We assume that the two populations are equally likely and the costs of misclassification are equal. In this situation, we consider two procedures, i.e., the test and proportion procedures, for selecting the principal components in classifica-tion. We compare the regular classification method and the proposed two procedures. We consider two methods for estimating error rate, i.e., the leave-one-out method and the bootstrap method.

  • The process capability indices are widely used to measure the capability of the process to manufacture items within the specified tolerance. Most evaluations on process capability indices focus on point estimates, which may result in unreliable assessments of process performance. The index $C_p$ has been widely used in various industries to assess process performance. In this paper, we propose new testing procedure on assessing $C_p$ index for practitioners to use in determining whether a given process is capable. The provided approach is easy to use and the decision making is more reliable. Whether a process is clearly normal or nonnormal, our bootstrap testing procedure could be applied effectively without the complexity of calculation. A numerical result based on the proposed approach is illustrated.

  • This paper discusses choosing the weight function of the Hardle and Mammen statistic in nonparametric goodness-of-fit test for regression curve. For this purpose, we modify the Hardle and Mammen statistic and derive its asymptotic distribution. Some results on the test statistic from the wild bootstrapped sample are also obtained. Through Monte Carlo experiment, we check the validity of these results. Finally, we study the powers of the test and compare with those of the Hardle and Mammen test through the simulation.
