12주간의 아쿠아로빅 운동이 여성 노인의 혈중지질, 동맥경화지수 및 간 기능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of 12-week aquarobics exercise on the blood lipids, atherogenic index and liver functions of elderly women)

  • 본 연구는 여성 노인을 대상으로 12주간의 아쿠아로빅 운동이 혈중지질, 동맥경화지수 및 간기능에 미치는 영향을 규명하는데 그 목적이 있으며, 이를 위해 만 65-80세 여성 노인을 대상으로 아쿠아로빅군 13명, 대조군 12명으로 분류하여 아쿠아로빅을 12주, 주 2회, 60분 동안 실시하였다. 본 연구의 운동강도는 운동자각도를 설정하여 1-4주는 RPE 11-12, 5-8주는 RPE 13-14, 9-12주는 RPE 14-15를 유지하였다. 아쿠아로빅 실시 전 후의 항목별 차의 비교를 위해 그룹 내 차이는 대응 t 검정, 그룹 간 차이는 독립 t 검정, 상호작용 검증을 위해 이원 반복측정 분산분석을 사용하였으며, 각 항목별 통계적 유의수준은 .05로 설정하였다. 그 결과 아쿠아로빅군의 LDL-C(p<.05)이 유의하게 감소하였으며, TC, TG, LDL-C에서 상호작용효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 동맥경화지수는 LDL-C/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C에서 상호작용효과가 나타났으며, 간 기능은 아쿠아로빅군이 AST(p<.001)의 유의한 감소를 나타냈다. 이상의 결과 노화와 신체활동 부족은 곧 심혈관 질환과 대사기능의 위험요인이라는 점을 감안할 때, 규칙적인 아쿠아로빅은 여성 노인의 혈중지질, 동맥경화지수 및 간 기능을 개선함으로써 노인기의 심혈관건강의 증진과 대사증후군 예방을 위한 효과적인 운동방법으로 권장된다.

국내 젖소의 혈액 대사인자 프로파일 분석 (Reference intervals for blood metabolic profiles of Holstein cows in Korea)

  • Metabolic profile test is used to evaluate nutritional imbalance and metabolic disease in dairy cows. The reference intervals of metabolic parameters may change according to nation, region, decades, and maintenance system. Despite the need to be periodically updated for the reference intervals of metabolic parameters, it has rarely been investigated in Korea. Therefore, this aim of study was to provide the reference intervals of metabolic parameters using dairy cows surveyed in Korea during recent years. A metabolic profile test was conducted for 2,976 clinically healthy dairy cows in Korea. Blood samples were collected for the analysis of serum metabolites. This study provided reference intervals of thirteen metabolic parameters (${\beta}$-hydroxybutyrate [${\beta}-HB$], non-esterified fatty acids [NEFA], glucose, total cholesterol [T-COL], total protein, albumin, globulin, blood urea nitrogen [BUN], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], gamma-glutamyl transferase [GGT], calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium). BUN and AST values of the current study were higher than those of previous studies. In the present study, the other metabolic parameters showed low or similar value compared to previous results. Moreover, ${\beta}-HB$, NEFA, T-COL, ALB, BUN, AST, and GGT values were affected by lactation period. This study provided information on the reference intervals of metabolites in healthy dairy cows in Korea. The reference intervals from the present study would be useful in managing and diagnosing disease of dairy cows. However, careful attention should be given in interpreting disease condition for metabolites affected by lactation.

Caine Babesia spp. 감염증예 (A Case of Canine Babesia spp. Infection)

  • A dog which was hospitalized to Veterinary Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Jeonbug National University on December 28, 1988 was revealed severe anemia: hemoglobinuria and weakness. In the inspections, abdominal pain and spleno megaly at the ventral abdomen were detected by palpations. In the examinations of blood, the obtained results were summarized as follows: Babesla spp. was identified on the blood smear stained with Giemsa. The Babesia spp. was assumed to the Babesia gibsoni for the their small size and pleomorphism such as comma form, ring form and dot form. In the blood examinations of the patient, Ht: 22.5%, RBC:354${\times}$10$^4$/${\mu}\ell$, Hb: 8.8g/dl, serum protein: 8g/dl, and WBC count was 21, 425/${\mu}\ell$. In the chemical examinations of serum, the value of AST(GOT) was 30iu and ALT(GPT) was 20iu, respectively. The blood sugar was 60mg/d1. In the urine test, urine protein was 30mg/d1 and the hemoglobin In the urine was the +++ and occult blood reaction(Benzidine test) in the feces was +++. Splenomegaly was confirmed by X-ray examination. To confirm for the Babesia spp. infection, 5ml of the whole blood of the patient(3% of Parasitized erythrocytes) were inoculated into the cephalic vein of the two normal dogs. In the blood of experimental dogs which were inoculated parasitized blood, Babesia spp. was detected in the two doss and pleomorphic parasites were observed, too. In the blood examinations of No. 1 the Ht and RBC were decreased to 6.8% and 52${\times}$10$^4$/${\mu}\ell$, respectively. WBC count was 10.600/${\mu}\ell$ and serum protein was 6.8g/dl. The rates of parasitized erythrocytes were 15% in the experimental dog. Also +++ of the hemoglobin was detected in the urine. In the X-ray examination, splenomegaly was comfirmed and it was confirmed by autopsy of the experimental dog(No. 1).

Polyvinylpyrrolidone과 1,2-indanedione 혼합물을 이용한 감열지에 부착된 혈흔지문의 증강 (Enhancement of fingerprint in blood deposited on the surface of thermal paper by using the mixture of polyvinylpyrrolidone and 1,2-indanedione)

  • Polyvinylpyrrolidone과 1,2-indanedione 혼합물(PVP-IND)은 감열지에 부착된 잠재지문을 현출하는데 가장 좋은 시약이라고 알려져 있다. 그러나 PVP-IND가 감열지에 부착된 혈흔지문을 증강할 수 있는지에 대해서는 알려지지 않았으므로 PVP-IND의 혈흔지문 증강 능력을 연구하였다. 비교 대상으로는 감열지에 부착된 혈흔지문을 증강할 때 가장 우수한 성능을 나타낸다고 알려진 amido black 수용액을 이용하였다. 그 결과, 물에 희석된 혈액이 묻은 손가락으로 만든 혈흔지문을 증강할 경우에는 PVP-IND가 amido black 수용액보다 증강 능력이 우수했다. 반면 희석되지 않은 혈흔지문을 PVP-IND로 처리하면 융선이 번져 나타나서 amido black 수용액의 증강 능력이 우수했다. PVP-IND로 처리했을 때 융선이 번져서 나타나는 것은 PVP와 혈액에 포함된 amino acid가 반응했기 때문인 것으로 추정된다.

동충하초 균사체를 이용한 법제 유황이 STZ 유발 당뇨쥐의 혈당 및 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Blood Glucose Levels and Lipid Metabolism on Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats of Processed Sulfur with Cordyceps Militaris Mycelium)

  • The purpose of this study was evaluated physiological activity of processed sulfur with Cordyceps militaris mycelium. Effect of blood glucose levels and lipid metabolism on streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats. To evaluate of hypoglycemic effects in vivo, we examined blood glucose levels, serum lipid profile and hepatotoxicity of streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Hypoglycemic effect of CM, CM+PSL and CM+PSH groups was significantly higher than DC groups. The activities of ALT, AST and ALP in CM+PSH group were lower than DC, PC groups. These results suggested that processed sulfur with Cordyceps militaris mycelium have activities of hypoglycemic effects.

키토산과 세리신 및 콜라겐 추출 혼합물이 당뇨의 혈당 및 지질성분 개선효과 (Influences of Chitosan, Sericin and Collagen Extract Complexes on the Improvement Actions of Lipid Component in Diabetes)

  • This study was conducted to examine the influences of chitosan, sericin and collagen extract complexes (1:1:1, w/w/w, CSC-F-005) in blood glucose and lipid concentrations in the sera of streptozotocin (STZ, 55 mg/kg BW, IP injection)-induced diabetic rats (SD strain) fed on experimental diets for 5 weeks. The concentrations of blood glucose, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, ratio of HDL-cholesterol concentration to total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL-cholesterol, free cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, triglyceride (TG) and phospholipid (PL) in serum were effective on the metabolic regulation in diabetic rats. The activities of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and aminotransferase (AST, ALT) in serum were lower in the extract complexes (CSC-F-005) than in the diabetic rats. The results shown above suggested that CSC-F-005 extract complexes supplementation effectively improvement of blood glucose and lipid components in the serum of STZ-induced diabetic rats.

건유(乾乳)와 필유(泌乳)에 따른 유우(乳牛)의 혈액(血液) 및 혈액화학상(血液化學像)의 변화에 관한 연구 (Studies on the hematological and blood chemical findings for dry and lactating periods)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the hematological and blood chemical values in dairy cattle during the dry and lactating period. Blood was collected from six healthy dairy cattle in Gyeongnam province. Leucocytes count, hemoglobin concentrations and the percentage of packed cell volume were lowest at the early lactation period. Leucocytes count was not affected during dry the to lactating period. The differential count of eosinophilic leucocytes was low at the late lactation period, while the basophilic leucocytes was high at the dry period. Inorganic phosphorus value was below under normal level. Creatinine value was from 1 to 2mg/100ml of serum. Positive reaction to CRP was shown in normal dairy cattle. The values of AST and ALT were higher during the dry than lactating period. r-GTP and total cholesterol tend to be decreased during the lactating period. CPK value was not affected for dry and lactating period.

사상체질의 혈액학적 분석에 따른 고찰 (Study According to Hematological Analysis of Sasang Constitution)

  • This study was to analyze the difference between blood type and blood constitution according to Sasang constitution. The subjects were 302 men who visited blood donation house. Data collection was performed by using questionnaire that included three types of Sasang constitution. The data were analyzed as frequency, percentage, ${\chi}$2-test and ANOVA using SPSS 10.0 WIN Program. There was significant difference statistically in frequency of blood type as per Sasang constitution(${\chi}$2 =53.254, p=.000). Soyangin got most number in B type(34.7%), O type(26.7%), A type(21.8%), AB type(16.8%) in order. Taewumin got most number in O type (45.8%), A type(31.3%), B type(22.1%) and AB type(0.8%) in order, and in case of Sowumin, most in A type(54.3%), B type(24.3%), O type (11.4%) and AB type(10.0%) in order. In weight, height, fatness, hemoglobin, Hematocrit, platelet, ALT, AST and cholesterol, it appears that there is significant difference according to Sasang constitution. If proper regimen according to Sasang constitution by grasping the special features as per Sasang constitution through analyzing the difference as per Sasang constitution based on the results of above study is applied.

Effects of the Zizyphus jujuba Seed Extract on the Lipid Components in Hyperlipidemic Rats

  • The purpose of this study was designed to observe the effects of Zizyphus jujuba seed extract on the concentrations of the lipids and blood glucose in the S.D. rats fed the experimental diets for 4 weeks. Concentrations of total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, free-cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, triglyceride (TG), phospholipid (PL) and blood glucose in serum were significantly higher in the cholesterol administration groups (group 2 (cholesterol+water), group 3 (cholesterol+Zizyphus jujuba seed extract)) than those in the control group (group 1, basal diet+water). But the concentrations of total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, free-cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, TG, PL and blood glucose in serum ware remarkably lower in the group 3 than those in the group 2. In the ratio of HIDL-cholesterol concentration to total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol concentration, Zizyphus jujuba seed extract administration group was higher percentage than in the group 2. The activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine amino-transferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in serum were rather lower in the Zizyphus jujuba seed extract administration group (group 3) than in the cholesterol diet group (group 2). From the above research, Zizyphus jujuba seeds were effective on the improvement of the blood glucose, lipid compositions in serum of dietary hyperlipidemic rats. And particularly, Zizyphus jujuba seeds were more effective as a therapeutic regimen for the control of metabolic derangements in adult disease.

Subcutaneous Injection of Bee Venom in Wistar Rats: effects on blood cells and biochemical parameters

  • Objectives: Bee venom (BV) therapy is performed by a bee sting or subcutaneous injection of BV. However, there is not much information on the effect of BV on blood parameters after entering the body. This project aimed to assess the side effects of subcutaneous BV injections in healthy rats by measuring the hematological and biochemical parameters. Methods: Various amounts of BV, including 100, 200, and 500 (㎍/day), were subcutaneously injected into rats for 30 days. The results showed that BV affected the metabolism of the liver, kidney, and glands. Results: An increase in blood sugar and a decrease in other biochemical parameters, including cholesterol, triglyceride, urea, creatinine AST, ALT, ALP, and phosphorous, were observed. Results also showed increased counts of white blood cells, neutrophils (%), and platelets and decreased levels of red cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that BV therapy in medical clinics requires routine care and testing to prevent eventual metabolic and anemia side effects.
