섬유 분별과 혼합 방법에 의한 신문고지로부터 화장지의 제조 (Manufacture of Toilet Tissue from Old Newspaper by Fiber Fractionation and Blending)

  • To manufacture toilet tissue with ONP (old newspaper), the effect of fractionation fiber (R150, R100, R70 mesh) and bleaching(P, PY), blending (70/30) with MOW(mixed office wastepaper) or WL(white ledger) and the addition of softener on the optical and mechanical properties were studied. Considering the pulp yield, brightness and strengths, fibers of R100 mesh fraction were proper to be produced to toilet paper from ONP. This pulp showed the pulp yield of 76.8%, brightness of 50.2% ISO and tensile index of 21.1 Nm/g. By the bleach with P and PY stages, the brightness of the pulps increased up to 60.3% ISO and 61.8% ISO, respectively. When blended with MOW (57.3% ISO) or WL (76.2% ISO), the brightness of the former increased up to 58.5% ISO, the latter up to 63.6% ISO. The strengths of pulp blended with WL were higher than those of fractionated pulp from 100% ONP, however there was no difference in strengths between fractionated pulp and blended pulp wth MOW. While the addition of softener improved the softness of paper, but it decreased strengths of pulp and extended dispersing time in water.

  • Since bio-diesel oil has a merit that it satisfies both demand of substitution for fossil fuel and reduction in carbon dioxide emission, it is widely used in diesel engines by blending in gas oil in small quantity. It is needed to reduce in NOx emission in some way or others if blending ratio of bio-diesel oil is going to increase, because it is demerit that bio-diesel oil emits more NOx emission than gas oil. In this study, it was accomplished to optimize 3 factors what effect on NOx emission as blending ratio of bio-diesel oil, injection timing and common rail pressure with an introduction of a design of experiments, in order to minimize a number of tests. It was cleared that to introduce the design of experiments was very available in NOx optimization.

Development of blend membrane by sulfonated polyethersulfone for whey ultrafiltration

  • The present work has been focused on the development of polysulfone (PSf) ultrafiltration membrane via blending by sulfonated polyethersulfone (SPES) in order to permeability enhancement for ultrafiltration of cheese whey. In this regards, sulfonation of polyethersulfone was carried out and the degree of sulfonation was estimated. The effect of blend ratio on morphology, porosity, permeation and fouling of PSf / SPES membranes was investigated. Filtration experiments of whey were conducted for separation of macromolecules and proteins from the lactose enrichment phase. The morphology and performance of membranes were evaluated using different techniques such SEM, AFM, and contact angle measurements. The contact angle measurement showed that the hydrophilicity of membrane was increased by adding SPES. According to AFM images, PSf / SPES membranes exhibited lower roughness compared to neat PSf membrane. The water and whey flux of these membranes were higher than neat membrane. However, flux was decreased when the PSf / SPES blend ratio was 0/100. It can be attributed to pore size and morphology changes. Further, fouling parameters of PSf membrane were improved after blending. The blend membranes show a great potential to be used practically in proteins separation from cheese whey.

  • We successfully prepared high-flow polycarbonate (PC) by blending commercial PC with a low molecular weight PC oligomer. The oligomer was synthesized by the addition of a large quantity of mono functional phenol groups, and the chain end group was reacted with p-tertiary butyl phenol (PTBP) to block the reactivity. The viscosity average molecular weight ($M_v$) for the oligomer was about 4,000-5,000 g/mol, compared to ~19,000 g/mol for the PC blend obtained by blending 10 wt% of the prepared oligomer with the commercial grade PC ($M_v$ of 21,000 g/mol). The blended PC had a melt flow index of 45, which is 2.5 times higher, and a processing temperature that was $20^{\circ}C$ lower, than that of commercial grade PC having a similar $M_v$.

  • In this study, the tensile properties of mono and hybrid fiber reinforced cement-based composite according to fiber blending ratio under the high strain rate was evaluated. Experimental results, the HSF1.5PVA0.5 shown the highest tensile strength because the PVA fiber suppressed the micro cracks in the matrix around the hooked steel fiber and improved the pull-out resistance of hooked steel fiber. Thus, DIF of strain capacity and fracture toughness of HSF1.5PVA were greatly improved. Also, the fracture toughness was greatly improved because the tensile stress was slowly decreased after the peak stress by improvement of the pull-out resistance of hooked steel fiber at strain rate 101/s.

직접분사식 바이오 에탄올-가솔린 혼합연료의 연료온도에 따른 분무 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Spray Characteristics of Directly Injected Bio-Ethanol-Gasoline Blended Fuel By Varying Fuel Temperature)

  • As environment problem became a worldwide issue, countries are tightening regulations regarding greenhouse gas reduction and improvement of air pollution problems. With these circumstances, one of the renewable energies produced from biomass is getting attention. Bio-ethanol, which is applicable to SI engine, showed a positive effect on the PFI (Port Fuel Injection) type. However, Ethanol has a problem in homogeneous mixture formation because it has high latent heat of vaporization characteristics and in the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) type, mixture formation is required quickly after fuel injection. Particularly, South Korea is one of the countries with great temperature variation among seasons. With this reason, South Korea supply fuel additive for smooth engine operation during winter. Therefore, experimental study and investigation about application possibility of blending fuel is necessary. This paper demonstrates the spray characteristics by using the CVC direct injection and setting the bio-ethanol blending fuel temperature close to the temperature during each seasons: -7, 25, $35^{\circ}C$. The diameter and the width of the CVC are 86mm and 39mm. High-pressure fuel supply system was used for target injection pressure. High-speed camera was used for spray visualization. The experiment was conducted by setting the injection pressure and ambient pressure according to each temperature of bio-ethanol blending fuel as a parameter. The result of spray visualization experiment demonstrates that as the temperature of the fuel is lower, the atomization quality is lower, and this increase spray penetration and make mixture formation difficult. Injection strategy according to fuel temperature and bio-ethanol blending rate is needed for improving characteristics.

직접분사식 가솔린엔진에서 운전조건에 따른 바이오에탄올의 연소 및 배기배출물 특성 (Effect of Engine Operating Conditions on Combustion and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of a Gasoline Direct Injection(GDI) Engine Fueled with Bio-ethanol)

  • 본 연구는 직접분사식 가솔린엔진에서 공기 과잉률 및 바이오에탄올-가솔린 혼합연료의 혼합비에 따른 연소특성과 배기배출물 특성을 실험적으로 규명한 것이다. 다양한 공기 과잉률 및 혼합비 조건에서 실험을 수행하였으며, 연소실 압력, 열발생률, 연료소비율 등을 통해 연소특성을 분석하였으며, 배기배출물 특성은 미연탄화수소(HC), 일산화탄소(CO), 질소산화물($NO_x$) 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 혼합연료의 실험결과는 100% 가솔린 및 바이오에탄올 실험결과와 비교하였다. 실험결과 최고연소압력과 열발생률, 제동연료소비율은 혼합비의 증가에 따라 증가하였으며, CO, HC, $NO_x$와 같은 배기배출물은 바이오 에탄올 혼합비율이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 혼합연료의 배기배출물 수준은 가솔린 보다 낮게 나타났다.

타원-혼합 2차모멘트 모형에 의한 강제와 자연대류가 복합된 수직 평판 난류유동의 예측 (Prediction of Combined Forced and Natural Turbulent Convection in a Vertical Plane Channel with an Elliptic-Blending Second Moment Closure)

  • The elliptic conceptual second moment models for turbulent heat fluxes, which are proposed on the basis of elliptic-blending and elliptic-relaxation equations, are applied to calculate the combined forced and natural turbulent convection in a vertical plane channel. The models satisfy the near-wall balance between viscous diffusion, viscous dissipation and temperature-pressure gradient correlation, and also have the characteristics of approaching its respective conventional high Reynolds number model far away from the wall. Also the models are closely linked to the elliptic blending model which is used for the prediction of Reynolds stress. In order to calibrate the heat flux models, firstly, the distributions of mean temperature and scala flux in fully developed channel flow with constant wall difference temperature are solved by the present models. The buoyancy effect on the turbulent characteristics including the mean velocity and temperature, the Reynolds stress tensor, and the turbulent heat flux vector are examined. In the opposing flow, the turbulent transport is greatly enhanced with both the Reynolds stresses and the turbulent heat fluxes being remarkably increased; whereas, in the aiding flow, the opposite change is observed. The results of prediction are directly compared to the DNS to assess the performance of the model predictions and show that the behaviors of the turbulent heat transfer in the whole flow region are well captured by the present models.

융합인재교육에 대한 초등예비교사와 현직교사의 인식과 요구 (Elementary Pre-service Teachers and In-service Teachers' Perceptions and Demands on STEAM Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out about the awareness and demands of pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers on STEAM education. For the purpose of this study, researcher administered survey questionnaires were conducted for 160 pre-service teachers and 191 in-service teachers who were sampled by convenience sampling method. The results were as follows. On the awareness and demand for knowledge and necessity on STEAM, first, on the understanding related knowledge, most respondents have heard of STEAM education(97.7%), and well aware of STEAM(91.4%) through the teacher training course(80.3%). Second, on the necessity, 60.4% respondents were located in "very necessary" and "necessary" entry. On the awareness and demand for applying STEAM, first, on the reasons of applying STEAM was to help the cognitive and affective development. Also 67.3% respondents would like to apply STEAM on their science class. The reason was necessity on STEAM, and the most suitable subject for blending with science of applying to STEAM was technology, on the other hand the most difficult subject was art. Second, on the effect of STEAM, most respondents had positive awareness on the all categories. Third, on the purpose of science education, also had positive awareness on the all categories of the purpose of science education. On the awareness and demand for blending ways of STEAM and improvements, first, on the blending ways of STEAM, topic centered blending related to real life had a majority. Second, on the improvements, to improve the STEAM education, many respondents pointed out the development of teaching and learning STEAM program and dissemination of related resources.

In Vitro 분해가 PLA/PEG 용융블렌드 섬유의 무게감량률 및 인장강도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of In Vitro Degradation on the Weight Loss and Tensile Strength of PLA/PEG Melt Blend Fiber)

  • PLA와 PEG를 사용하여 용융블렌드 방법으로 PLA/PEG 블렌드 섬유를 제조한 후 in vitro 환경조건인 pH7.4, 온도 $37\;^{\circ}C$의 완충용액에서 1~8주 동안 가수분해한 다음 무게감량률 및 인장강도 등에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 가수분해 시간이 1주에서 8주까지 증가함에 따라 블렌드 시간은 10~30분으로, PEG 함량은 5~30 wt%로 증가할수록 PLA/PEG 블렌드 섬유의 무게감량률은 증가하는 경향이, 인장강도 및 인장탄성률은 감소하는 경향이 현저하게 나타남을 확인하였다. 결론적으로 가수분해 시간 2주까지는 PLA/PEG 블렌드 섬유의 무게 감량률은 약 0.9% 이내이고 강도유지율은 약 90% 이상을 나타냄으로써 임계상처치유기간 중 양호한 강도가 유지될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
