  • This paper describes a multi-level simulation technique and its implementation, which accurately solve voltages and currents of circuits descreibed at mixed levels of abstractions. A metho to form a tightly coupled simulation environment is proposed and, starting from a description of a circuit, simulation set-up and analysis procedure of the multi-level simulator for a transient response are presented. Circuit and behavioral simulation techniques and their implementations composing the multi-level simulation are explained in detail. Most of the algorithms implemented in the simulation are based upon the standard simulation techniques in order to obtain the reliability and accuracy of conventinoal simulators. Simulation examples show that the multi-level simulator can analyze circuits containing highly nonlinear behavioral models without loss of accuracy provided the behavioral models are accurate enough.

  • Behavioral level simulations of LDO voltage regulator and phase locked loop(PLL) are performed with CPPSIM, a behavioral-level simulation tool based on C language. The validity of the simulation tool is examined by modeling analog circuits and simulating the circuits. In addition, the designed PLL adopted digital architecture to possess advantages of digital circuits.

  • High-level design aids are mandatory for design of a continuous-time delta-sigma modulator (CTDSM). This paper proposes a top-down methodology design to generate a noise transfer function (NTF) which is compensated for excess loop delay (ELD). This method is applicable to low pass loop-filter topologies. Non-ideal effects including ELD, integrator scaling issue, finite op-amp performance, clock jitter and DAC inaccuracies are explicitly represented in a behavioral simulation of a CTDSM. Mathematical modeling using MATLAB is supplemented with circuit-level simulation using Verilog-A blocks. Behavioral simulation and circuit-level simulation using Verilog-A blocks are used to validate our approach.

  • This paper suggests the passenger model considered evacuation behavioral characteristics on the passenger ship fire using a rules-based agent technique. The existing evacuation simulation system was modeled only passenger speed. The speed-based model considered passenger's physical characteristics, so it couldn't consider evacuation behavioral characteristics. For solving this problem, we modeled the passenger model using a rule-based agent applied evacuation behavioral characteristics. The rule-based agent consists of knowledge base and inference engine. In knowledge base, we represented evacuation behavioral characteristics, and chose the examples of the evacuation behavioral characteristics to show various patterns of behavior. And we simulated in the IMO MSC/Circ.1238 example 8 and we proved the simulation results could represent variety patterns of human behavior.

  • Near-Field Communication (NFC) is a short-range wireless communication technology evolved from RFID especially for the exchange of data between active and passive devices. This paper presents the mathematical models for the signal path of a NFC transceiver system and a behavioral simulation platform using MATLAB simulink. The approximated mathematical models simplify the simulation complexity of a transceiver and provide a quick evaluation. With this calculation platform, we can evaluate the system performance caused by the noise and the non-linearity of the individual blocks, and caused by system variables such as Effective Number of Bits (ENOB) of ADC and filter cutoff frequency. This platform provides us with a rapid prototyping, a reliable system design, and an efficient risk management during development of the NFC transceiver ICs.

  • The physical OLED analog behavioral model for SPICE simulation has been described using Verilog-A language. The model is based on the carrier-balance between the hole and electron injected through Schottky barrier at anode and cathode. The accuracy of this model was examined by comparing with the results from device simulation.

  • In space syntax, the mathmatical process to get a integration could be restrictive in understanding spatial configuration since it is based on only one behavior model. In this study, As another approach to spatial configuration analysis based on behavioral model, there is the simulation tracking analysis model that simulates the movements of human in the space and analyze them. In this study, the relationship between integration and behavioral model will be defined and the similarities and the differences between space syntax and the simulation tracking analysis model will be demonstrated. Furthermore, these two analysis models will be understood as a variety of tools that can analyze an object in multiple viewpoints.

  • Due to the rapidly aging population, the death rate of elderly people by safety accidents has been increasing. In particular, precautions are needed for falls prevention because they either directly or indirectly cause death. In the case of elderly people, most of the fall accidents occur in dense residential areas, and particularly, the staircase poses a risk of falling. Therefore, a safety assessment should be performed from the design phase. However, in general, staircases are designed using existing stair data or only aims to satisfy the installation criteria. Laws and regulations only define minimum requirements for safety, so it is not possible to prevent fall accidents even if they satisfy the requirements. Therefore, this study proposes a simulation-based method for evaluating the safety of staircases. The behavioral characteristics of the elderly are implemented to an virtual user in a virtual space including staircases, and fall accidents are evaluated by the evaluation logic related to the behavioral characteristics. The result shows that the safety of staircases can be preevaluated and reflected on the design to reduce the possibility of fall accidents of the elderly.

  • In this paper, we explore a behavioral animation of artificial birds that have lived by doing an aggregate motion. We first model individual birds and then propose a behavioral model for an aggregate motion of a flock of birds. In order to represent realistically collision avoidance and flock centering among birds, which are necessary properties in a flock of birds, we consider motive of a flock of birds, and role, velocity, momentum, banking and internal characteristics of each bird. The paper presents the simulation result of the proposed model for a flock of 100 birds.

  • Nowadays various simulation tools are widely used for the design and the analysis of power electronic converters. From the engineering point of view it is rather difficult to parameterize power semiconductor device models without the knowledge of basic physical parameters. In recent years some data sheet driven behavioral models or so called 'wizard' tools have been introduced to solve this problem. In this contribution some experiences with some user-friendly power semiconductor models will be discussed. Using special simulation test circuits it is possible to get information on the static and dynamic behavior of the parameterized models before they are applied in more complex schemes. These results can be compared with data sheets or with measurements. The application of these models for power loss analysis of inverter type arc welding power sources will be described.
