In terms of the distribution of fatigue symptoms according to the type A behavior pattern, the normal group of fatigue symptoms was higher in the type B behavior pattern group, but the high risk group of fatigue symptoms was higher in the type A behavior pattern group. The type A behavior pattern was significant positive correlation with fatigue symptoms. In logistic regression analysis, the adjusted odds ratio of the high risk fatigue symptoms were significantly increased in the group of type A behavior pattern than type B behavior pattern. As a conclusion, fatigue symptoms was higher in the group of type A behavior pattern than the group of type B behavior pattern. Hereafter, the sustainable study would require that the relation between type A behavior pattern and fatigue symptoms to the various study subjects.

This study used the methodological triangulation. In the first, treatment-seeking behavior type and decisional factor were described based on qualitative data collected from in-depth interviews with 29 cancer patients. Next, they were tested using quantitative data collected from a structured questionnaire involving 165 cancer patients with statistical method. As a result, treatment-seeking behavior from detecting symptoms to visiting a doctor categorized into immediate visit and delayed visit. The decisional factors on time interval between detecting symptoms and visiting a doctor was influenced by the perceived seriousness of symptoms, the experiences of visiting a doctor previously with similar symptoms, social-group influences on visiting a doctor, barriers to visiting a doctor, and health concerns. There were significant relationship between treatment-seeking time and these factors, however, there was no statistically significant relationship between treatment-seeking time and the demographic characteristics. It is expected that results of this study can be used for nursing education data of cancer patients for early diagnosis after detecting symptoms

Methods: For the research, this study collected data from July 8 to July 20, in 2019 with 214 nurses who worked at 10 long-term care hospitals in Chungbuk. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, Mann-Whitney U test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS 23.0 program. Results: Factors influencing caring behavior of nurses in long-term care hospital were dementia attitudes (β=.549, p<.001), burden from behavioral psychological symptoms of dementia (β=.242, p<.001) and marital status (β=.134, p=.017). These factors explained 33.9% of caring behavior (F=37.35, p<.001). Conclusion: Dementia attitudes were confirmed to be the main variable influencing nurse's caring behavior. Therefore, to improve the caring behavior of dementia patient, it is considered that the development of programs to improve dementia attitudes and in-depth understanding regarding the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia is necessary.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to assess possible interactive effects of coping styles and psychological stress on depression and anxiety symptoms in Chinese women shortly after diagnosis of breast cancer. Methods: Four hundred and one patients with breast cancer were face-to-face interviewed by trained research staff according to a standardized questionnaire including information on socio-demographic characteristics, psychological stress, coping styles, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. Interactive effects were assessed by hierarchical multiple regression analyses. Results: There were significant associations of the four domains of psychological stress with anxiety and depressive symptoms except for the relationship between "worrying about health being harmed" and depressive symptoms. "Abreaction coping behavior" and "escaping coping behavior" significantly increased the level of both anxiety and depressive symptoms; whereas an "active coping style" reswulted in significant decrease. The interaction of "active coping behavior" with "worrying about health being harmed" significantly increased the risk of the anxiety symptoms, while adopting "self-relaxing coping behavior" was associated with significant decrease. The interaction of "worry about daily life and social relationship being restricted" with "escaping coping behavior" significantly increased the risk of the depressive symptoms. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that certain coping styles might moderate the association of psychological stress with anxiety and depressive symptoms in Chinese women with breast cancer.
