Due to the increasing use of the internet, various social problems have been emerging, and one of them is internet gaming disorder (IGD). The purpose of this study was to investigate whether low internal motivation was present in IGD and basic psychological needs affected internal motivation. Twenty-one individuals with IGD and 21 healthy controls performed a 'motivation task' in which the avatar in virtual reality asked whether they would accept an activity in two conditions stimulating intrinsic or extrinsic motivation. The task performance was compared between the two groups, and was correlated with the Basic Psychological Needs Scale scores. Patients had a significantly lower acceptance rate of the proposal in the intrinsic motivation condition than controls, and this intrinsic motivated tendency was correlated with the satisfaction in their basic psychological needs. As with other substance use disorders, IGD was associated with a lower level of internal motivation, which was related to the dissatisfaction of basic psychological needs such as autonomy, competence, and relationship.

After gathering study subjects (exercise participants) and deciding the population in 2014 in Jeonbuk city area, convenience sampling method was used to analyze the date from 278 subjects. The retrieved questionnaire in the research was analyzed in Window SPSS version 21 statistical program. Frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis were used to find correlations between test values. Multiple regression analysis was used to find the effects of the test values. The study results are as follows. First, the exercise participants' positive self-esteem exhibited a positive relationship with competence, relatedness, and autonomy, which are sub factors of basic psychological needs satisfaction. Also, negative self-esteem had a negative relationship with competence, relatedness, and autonomy. Second, exercise participants' self-esteem had a positive effect on competence and autonomy in positive self-esteem and a negative effect on negative self-esteem. Relatedness had a positive effect in positive self-esteem but not in negative self-esteem. Recently, there have been calls for approaching from the irrationality point of view to better explain the privacy paradox phenomenon. This study is a kind of response to them. The aim of the study is to investigate how satisfying competence needs, one of basic psychological needs suggested in self-determination theory, affects irrational information disclosure decision (i.e., risk-benefit assessment). To do this, the study builds an irrationality-based model in which competence needs satisfaction affects both perceived risks negatively and perceived benefits (i.e., relationship building and maintenance), which in turn determine a level of self-disclosure. Based on the data from Facebook users which is collected by a large sample survey (N=1050), the study analyzes it using Mplus, a powerful structure equation modeling tool. The study results reveal that while the relationship between competence needs satisfaction and perceived relationship building and maintenance is statistically significant, the relationship between competence needs satisfaction and perceived risks insignificant. These findings imply that people who is in a high level of competence needs satisfaction is more likely to respond to some opportunities for social benefits and in turn disclose more information about self.
Gamers switch their games to a new when get bored or encounter more attractive ones. Switching cost varies by gamers and depends on how they are satisfied with their current game. This study evaluates the satisfaction with current games as the miltiple basic psychological need in the self-determination theory and suggests 'needs-costs' causality research model that explain the variety of gamer's switching behavior. As the empirical test to domestic mobile gamers, the autonomy fulfillment to current game affect reversely with those of autonomy and relatedness. Those relationships between need satisfaction and perceptual switching cost vary according to their age and game genre preference. The results would be applied to understand gamers' switching behavior.
In the post-pandemic era, colleges and students keep passion for learning online sine its unique advantages. This study explores how students' basic psychological needs drawn from self-determination theory, connect to interaction, and learning engagement in the context of online learning. While prior research explored students' intentions, digital interactions, and engagement in online learning, this study aims to come up with a united conceptual model drawing the three basic psychological needs and interaction and their effects on learning engagement. 178 response data collected through a questionnaire survey, were analyzed using PLS-SEM. Findings indicate that online learning interaction enhances intrinsic motivation, leading to higher learning engagement. Autonomy emerges as the most influential psychological need on learning engagement. This study integrates self-determination theory with online learning interactions and engagement and offers practical insights. Future research should examine long-term outcomes and diverse student populations.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of innovation-oriented organizational culture on organizational members' innovation behavior, and to confirm the sequential mediating effect of the boss's coaching leadership and the basic psychological needs of organizational members. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted targeting 377 office workers who had been working with the same boss for more than 6 months. The collected data was analyzed using Hayes' SPSS PROCESS Macro. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was confirmed that the relationship between organizational culture and innovative behavior was statically significant. Second, it was confirmed that coaching leadership and basic psychological needs sequentially mediate in the relationship between organizational culture and innovative behavior. In other words, the innovation-oriented organizational culture does not directly affect innovative behavior, but rather leads to the exertion of coaching leadership by boss, and coaching leadership promotes more innovative behavior by influencing the satisfaction of members' basic psychological needs. This is meaningful as a basic study on how environmental variables, such as organizational culture and superior leadership, affect individual motivational variables, desire, and thus affect individual behavioral variables. In addition, based on the results of this study, academic and practical implications were discussed, and limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up studies were discussed.
Purpose: This study aimed to provide the basic data for improving patient satisfaction and dental services by examining the satisfaction of implant patients who have become important customers of dental treatment due to the increased demand for implants and identifying the factors affecting satisfaction. Methods: Out of 145 questionnaires, excluding 15 questionnaires that were unfaithfully responded to or difficult to analyze, 130 questionnaires were used for the analysis of the satisfaction of the dental patients with implant treatment in 19 dental hospitals and clinics in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Results: Implant satisfaction was as high as 3.20 (±0.56) for masticatory function satisfaction, 3.19 for psychological function satisfaction (±0.59), and 3.01 (±0.58) for social function satisfaction. Conclusion: Consistent patient care is important because an implant is not a one-shot cure but ends over a period of several months to several years. It is meaningful in that this study measured the satisfaction of implant prostheses evaluated from a patient's point of view and examined various factors and needs affecting patient satisfaction to provide the basic data for research that can contribute to improving the satisfaction of implant patients.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify effects of Medicaid Case Manager's communication competence and stress on their job satisfaction. Methods: The current work is descriptive research, and the participants were 154 medicaid case managers. Data were collected between May and July, 2017 through Embrain, a specialized research organization. The data were analyzed using independent t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The mean communication competence of the medicaid case managers was 3.61, stress 1.76, and their job satisfaction 2.74. Age and average monthly compensation brought significant differences in their job satisfaction. Their communication competence was correlated with stress (r=-.35, p<.001), but not with their job satisfaction. The stress was the most influential factor in job satisfaction (${\beta}=-.45$). Conclusion: The results of this work show that the medicaid case managers' communication competence was not an influence factor of their job satisfaction, which is different from implications from the previous studies and needs confirmation through future research. In addition the results of this study also suggest that stress management can be a useful approach to the improvement of medicaid case managers' job satisfaction.
