In esthetic treatment of bimaxillary protrusion, it is important to move backward the anterior teeth segment. For the backward movement of the anterior teeth segment, orthodontic force and segmental osteotomy have been applied on the clinical treatment until recently. These methods caused long treatment time, anchorage loss, the possibility of root resorption and the complication followed by segmental osteotomy. Therefore, corticotomy has become a major concern lately. This research has been conducted to study the efficiency of corticotomy in the treatment of bimaxillary protrusion comparing the profile change, canine retraction velocity and space closing time. The research compared and analyzed space closing time, canine retraction velocity and profile change in two groups of patients. Both groups were formed out of patients over 18 years old who visited the department of dentistry in Hanyang University for treatments. The experimental group who was treated by corticotomy and Skeletal Anchorage System(SAS). The control group who received orthodontic treatment using SAS. The following results are produced after analyzing both groups. The significant statistic difference in space closing time has been observed in the experimental group as compared with the control group(p<0.05). In the experimental group, the significant statistic increase in canine retraction velocity was also observed(p<0.05). There was no significant difference in profile change between the control group and the experimental group(p<0.05). As a result, orthodontic treatment using corticotomy has a reasonable efficiency in space closing time as compared with the existing orthodontic treatment. Therefore, it is concluded that corticotomy with orthodontic treatment can be reasonably applied to dentofacial abnormality.
The purpose of this study is searching for technical merits and demerits of each weight lifting player through qualitative motion analysis system. Moreover, It is also analysis the repeating the establishment of exercise purpose and studying for the effect of the field adaptation. The subject of this study was five male weight lifting players who have been engaged in Korean Delegation Team. The institution of exercise target was made through two times qualitative analysis and the result of studying for the effect of the field adaptation was produced before offering feedback. Moreover, two time analysis added after offering feedback. All analysis was based on 2-D visual analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Maximal barbell moving speed in starting phase was decreased after offering feedback. This result implies advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 2. From starting posture to 앉아받기, forward and backward moving distance of hip joint was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 3. In terms of pull phase, forward and backward moving distance of hip and shoulder joint was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 4. In terms of pull phase, the difference of horizontal value of coordinates was decreased after offering feedback in all subjects. This result represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. 5. In terms of pull phase, the motion range of hip joint was decreased after offering feedback in three of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them were not variable or narrow decreasing. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 6. From apex point of barbell to 앉아받기, the difference of barbell height was decreased after offering feedback in three of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them weren't variable or narrow increasing. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 7. In terms of last-pull phase, the angular velocity of knee joint was increased after offering feedback in four of five subjects and this represents advancement of technical skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them, only one subject, decreased. This result represents that feedback system could not brought tremendous effects. 8. In terms of last-pull, the conversional tendency of maximal extension to flextion came out all but simultaneously without offering feedback in four of five subjects. This is well-performed technique. Only one subject, however, could not use power effectively because the fact that his maximal extension came out in serial, from ankle to knee and waist means dispersion of power. In addition to, after offering feedback, only one subject made increasing the maximal extension of knee in last-pull and this result represents advancement of skills after offering feedback. However, the rest of them could not make meaningful development after offering feedback. 9. It might be assumed that searching for technical merits and demerits of each weight lifting player through qualitative motion analysis system could improve player's skill.

Internal erosion is one of the main causes of levee damage and collapse, and representative of this is backward erosion piping. This type of internal erosion accounts for one-third of the damage to levees, meaning it is important to predict and prevent it. In this work, experiments were conducted with the aim of detecting piping in advance by using a tracer. Experiments were undertaken by changing the head difference, soil diameter, and the installation of the cutoff wall. A tracer was injected twice, once at the beginning of the experiment and once after the piping occurred. A key finding was that the piping process significantly affectedthe concentration variation of the tracer in a soil layer. Hence, a tracer concentration curve monitored at downstream could provide information about piping occurrence. It is expected that the results of this study can be used to prevent levee damage and collapse caused by piping.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to find some kinetic variable's relationships between personal records and low records in female high jump. Methods : Collected data of the subjects(N=8, ages: $25.5{\pm}1.85$, height: $173{\pm}5.83$, mass: $54.75{\pm}6.36$ personal record: $1.71{\pm}0.04$, low record: $1.62{\pm}0.03$) were used for the last three strides and take-off phase. Five video cameras set in 30frames/s were used for recording. After digitizing motion, the Direct Linear Transformation(DLT) technique was employed to obtain 3-D position coordinates. The kinematic and kinetic factors of distance, velocity, angle, impulse, jerk variables were calculated. A paired t-test was applied for the difference of variables between personal records and lower records and for correlation with performances and variables. The significance level was accepted at p<.05. Results : There was no relationship between pattern of stride and performance. However, rate of change of velocity was related with cental of mass height(CMH) at peak point(PP). Knee, hip, backward lean, foot plant, approach and take off angle showed no difference between best record and low record. Vertical impulse momentum also showed no difference between performances. Conclusion : According to a t-test result, there were significant differences in CMH at PP and jerk at touch down between best record and low record.

Roll drafting operation causes variations in the linear density of bundles because the bundle flow cannot be controlled completely by roll pairs. Defects occurring in this operation bring about many problems successively in the next processes. In this paper, we attempt to analyze the draft dynamics and the linear density irregularity based on the governing equation of a bundle motion that has been suggested in our previous studies. For analyzing the dynamic characteristics of the roll drafting operation, it is indispensable to investigate a transient state in time domain before the bundle flux reaches a steady state. However, since governing equations of bundle flow consisting of continuity and motion equations turn out to be nonlinear, and coupled between variables, the solutions for a transient state cannot be obtained by an analytical method. Therefore, we use the Finite Difference Method(FDM), particularly, the FTBS(Forward-Time Backward-Space) difference method. Then, the total equations system yields to an algebraic equations system and is solved under given initial and boundary conditions in an iterative fashion. From the simulation results, we confirm that state variables show different behavior in the transient state; e.g., the velocity distribution in the flow field changes more quickly the linear density distribution. During a transient flow in a drafting zone, the output irregularity is influenced differently by the disturbances, e.g., the variation in input bundle thickness, the drafting speed, and the draft ratio.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare differences in thoracolumbar ranges of motions by comparing ratios among 4 type diagnosis for patient with chronic low back pain. Methods : The subjects were 58 chronic low back pain patients. A motion analysis program (Global Postural System) was used after photography for posture measurement. To analyze differences in mobility percentages and ratios of thoracolumbar ranges of motion, one-way ANOVA was used. Results : Regional difference spinal posture and movement were found to diagnosis patients with chronic low back pain. Comparison of thoracolumbar ranges of motion revealed significant differences in the thoracic region during forward-bending of the trunk (p<.05). In the upper thoracic region, the herniated intervertebral lumbar disc (HILD) group was significantly larger than the spinal stenosis/herniated intervertebral lumbar disc (SS/HILD) group (p<.05). In the lower thoracic region, chronic sprains (CS) were significantly greater than in the spinal stenosis (SS) group and in the (SS/HJLD) group (p<.05). Comparative analysis of thoracic/lumbar mobility ratio showed the CS group's ratio during forward bending was largest: 1.66, while the HILD group's ratio was smallest: 84 a significant difference between the two groups (p<.01). Diagnosis was not associated with difference in thoracolumbar backward-bending range of motion (p>.05). Conclusion : Theses results indicate the clinical efficacy of diagnosing for chronic low back pain by evaluating spinal mobility.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of clubhead velocity through regression analysis on the magnitude and time difference of the forward-backward, mediolateral, and vertical ground reaction peak forces generated by force plate during golf swing. Method: 16 subjects (age: 20.5±4.2 yrs, height: 176.0±5.4 cm, weight: 77.8±5.9 kg, handy: 2.4±1.7) who is elite golf player in high school and university, participated in this study. The study method adopted three-dimensional analysis with 8 cameras and ground reaction force measurement with two force plate. The analysis variables were clubhead velocity, and ground reaction analysis variables set four events in each graph based on the peak forces commonly generated in Fx, Fy, and Fz graphs of the ground reaction data during the golf swing. Results: As a result of analyzing the influence of ground reaction magnitude difference on clubhead velocity, the influence on clubhead velocity was ym4, zm1, xm4, zm2. The larger ym4, xm4, zm1, the fasterthe clubhead velocity, but the smallerthe zm2, the faster the clubhead velocity. And in time difference, the influence on the clubhead velocity was in the order of xt4, zt1, zt3. The shorter xt4, zt1, zt3 showed faster clubhead velocity. Conclusion: The leftfoot played a leading role in increasing the velocity of the clubhead. Although the result was caused by the interaction of the right foot and the left foot during the swing, the role of the left foot is relatively large.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the stability of bimaxillary surgery involving bilateral intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy performed with or without presurgical miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) in adult patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion. Methods: A total of 40 adult patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion were retrospectively divided into two groups (n = 20 each) according to the use of MARPE for the correction of transverse maxillomandibular discrepancy during presurgical orthodontic treatment. Serial lateral cephalograms and dental casts were analyzed until 6 months after surgery. Results: Before presurgical orthodontic treatment, there was no significant differences in terms of sex and age between groups. However, the difference of approximately 3.1 mm in the maxillomandibular intermolar width was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Two days after surgery, the mandible had moved backward and upward without any significant intergroup difference. Six months after surgery, the maxillary intercanine (2.7 ± 2.1 mm), interpremolar (3.6 ± 2.4 mm), and intermolar (2.0 ± 1.3 mm) arch widths were significantly increased (p < 0.001) relative to the values before presurgical orthodontic treatment in the MARPE group; these widths were maintained or decreased in the control group. However, there was no significant difference in surgical changes and the postsurgical stability between the two groups. No significant correlations existed between the amount of maxillary expansion and postsurgical mandibular movement. Conclusions: MARPE is useful for stable and nonsurgical expansion of the maxilla in adult patients with skeletal Class III malocclusion who are scheduled for bimaxillary surgery.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of efficient problem-solving teams and inefficient problem-solving teams using SYMLOG. In this study, 35 college students majoring in engineering education at C university were organized into 7 teams and carried out technological problem solving projects over one semester. Based on the results of the team project, the top 2 teams were defined as efficient problem solving teams and the bottom 2 teams were defined as inefficient problem solving team, and analyzed the characteristics of the team using SYMLOG. The main results are as follows: First, an analysis of SYMLOG from efficient problem solving teams and inefficient problem solving teams showed that there was a difference between self-awareness and others' perception in terms of U(Upward)-D(Downward) dimension. Second, in the inefficient problem solving teams, there was a significant difference between self-awareness and others' in the F(Forward)-B(Backward) dimension. Third, there was no difference between self-awareness and others' in both efficient and inefficient teams at the P (Positive)-N(Negative) dimension. Fourth, an efficient problem-solving team had a clear leader, and there was a team member who supported the leader. On the other hand, the inefficient problem-solving team did not have a clear leader, or one person played the role of leader and there were no team members supporting the leader.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of abdominal-compression belt in one leg standing on balance in normal adult. Background: With the effects of increased intra-abdominal pressure, the abdominal-compression belt is contributing to a static balance control. However, specific study is still insufficient. Method: Forty subjects were randomly allocated to two groups: control(n=20) and experimental group(n=20), respectively. The experimental group used an abdominal-compression belt, whereas the control group did not that. All subjects were educated using pressure biofeedback unit and ultrasound imaging for exact application by abdominal-compression belt. Main outcome measurement was used a general stability index, fourier harmony index, weight distribution index, and fall index in tetrax balance system. Results: Experimental group improved significantly on general stability, only 2 factors(eyes closed with head turned forward and eyes closed with head turned backward) among fourier harmony index, and fall index, However, weight distribution index did not revealed significant difference. Conclusion: The findings suggest that application of abdominal-compression belt could be effective on improving balance ability in one leg standing of normal adults. Application: The results of the abdominal-compression belt might help to control balance in workers.
