Development and Validation of Life Safety Awareness Scale of High School Students and Analysis of Interindividual Differences

  • Life safety awareness level diagnosis is necessary for customized safety education and continuous safety awareness. As the starting stage of safety education for each life cycle, a scale that has verified the reliability and validity of high school students' life safety awareness has not yet been developed. In this context, the purpose of this study is to develop and validate the life safety awareness scale of high school students and to analyze interindividual differences. Questionnaire data was collected from April to June 2022 from 834 students in the first, second, and third grades of high schools in △△ city in Jeollabuk-do. A final 25-item scale was developed using the preliminary survey, preliminary test, the main test, descriptive statistical analysis, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. This scale consists of four sub-factors: 'safety prevention', 'safety knowledge', 'safety preparation', and 'safety protection'. Good reliability and validity were verified by analysis of content validity and construct validity. The generalizability of the scale was verified by crossover validation between the search group and the crossover group. Based on the interindividual differences analysis, although there was a difference between genders in life safety awareness, there was no difference by grade level and academic achievement. This study is significant in developing the first valid scale that can measure high school students' life safety awareness and providing the necessity and rationale for life safety education by life cycle considering individual gender differences.

일부 치과위생사의 생활만족도, 노후에 대한 인식 및 노후준비와의 관련성 (Relationship between life satisfaction, awareness of old age and preparation for old age of dental hygienists)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between life satisfaction, awareness of their old age, and preparation for their old age among dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 258 dental hygienists in Seoul, Gyeonggido, Incheon and Gangwondo from September 30 to October 30, 2016. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics (10 items), life satisfaction (10 items), awareness of old age (13 items) and preparation for old age (23 items). Respondents were asked to choose on the Likert 5-point scale. Results:Significant relationships were found between life satisfaction, awareness about old age and preparation for old age among dental hygienists (p<0.01): physical preparation for old age was related to life satisfaction; economic preparation for old age was related to life satisfaction, awareness for old age, 10 or more years of experience as dental hygienist and having offspring (two or more children). Psycho-emotional preparation for old age was related to life satisfaction and awareness for old age. Conclusions:It is necessary to find ways to increase life satisfaction and awareness of old age for their old age among dental hygienists.

청소년의 심리적 특성이 생활안전의식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Psychological Characteristics of Adolescents on Life Safety Awareness)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how adolescents' psychological characteristics affect their sense of life safety according to gender. To this end, a survey was conducted on male and female high school students in six schools in the C area, and a total of 1,048 data were used for analysis. Differences in major variables according to gender were verified, and the effect of psychological characteristics on living safety awareness was analyzed through hierarchical multiple regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, depression, anxiety, type A characteristics, and the presence or absence of experience in accidents did not significantly affect life safety awareness in the male student group. On the other hand, in the female student group, anxiety and type A characteristics had a significant effect on life safety awareness. Anxiety negatively affects living safety awareness, and type A characteristics have been shown to have a positive effect on living safety awareness. The presence or absence of depression and accident experience did not significantly affect life safety awareness. The results of these studies suggest that gender differences should be considered in education to prevent life safety awareness and that education that reflects the psychological characteristics of adolescents is necessary.

초등학교 고학년 아동의 성격특성과 남녀평등의식 (A Study on the Awareness of Gender Equality and Personality Traits in Students in Upper Grades of Elementary School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relation between personality traits and awareness of gender equality. Method: A descriptive survey design was used and 688 students in fifth and sixth grades in 3 elementary schools were selected as participants. Result: 1. Level of gender equality awareness among the students was 2.82. This is higher than average and was most influenced by awareness of family life, followed by awareness in education, work environment and social-cultural life. 2. Students with higher levels of extraversion-introversion had higher levels of awareness of gender equality in family life, work environment, and education. Students with higher levels of tough-mindedness showed lower levels of gender equality awareness in family life and work environment, while those with higher levels of lying showed lower levels of gender equality awareness in social-cultural life. Conclusion: Personality traits and awareness of gender equality were correlated to some degree. However, in order to understand the characteristics of childhood personality traits and the behaviors of our children though the mediation of the gender equality awareness as society changes, and to let them grow with understanding of gender equality, it is essential to implement various kinds of education in families, schools, and the society.

청소년의 자기인식이 정신건강에 미치는 영향: 삶의 만족, 우울, 불안을 중심으로 (The Effects of Self-Awareness on Mental Health among Adolescents: Focusing on Life Satisfaction, Depression, and Anxiety)

  • 본 연구는 자기인식이 정신건강 지표로서 삶의 만족과 우울, 불안에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 300명의 청소년을 대상으로 자기인식, 삶의 만족, 우울, 불안을 포함한 온라인 설문을 실시하였고, 다중회귀분석을 통해 변인 간 관계를 관찰해보았다. 연구 결과, 청소년의 전반적인 자기인식은 삶의 만족, 우울, 불안에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 또한 자기인식을 내적‧대인관계적‧환경적 자기인식의 세 차원으로 구분하여 정신건강에 미치는 효과를 확인한 결과, 삶의 만족은 대인관계적‧환경적 자기인식으로부터 예측된 반면, 우울과 불안은 내적 자기인식으로부터 예측되었다. 이 결과는 청소년의 자기인식이 전반적으로는 정신건강에 영향을 두루 미치지만, 긍정적‧부정적 정서요인은 자기인식의 유형에 따라 변별적으로 영향을 받는다는 점을 보여주고 있다. 본 연구를 통해 청소년기에 정신건강을 증진하고 삶의 질을 높이는 과정에서 자기인식이 중요하다는 점을 구체적으로 확인할 수 있었다.

Effects of Awareness of Good Death and End-of-Life Care Attitudes on End-of-Life Care Performance in Long-Term Care Hospital Nurses

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of awareness of good death and end-of-life care attitudes on end-of-life care performance in long-term care hospital nurses. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design. The participants were 147 nurses working at six long-term care hospitals with more than 200 beds in B city, South Korea. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires, and analyzed with descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple stepwise regression analysis using IBM/SPSS 26.0 for Windows. Results: The participants' awareness of good death, end-of-life care attitudes, and end-of-life care performance were positively correlated. The factors affecting end-of-life care performance were age, education level, awareness of good death, and end-of-life care attitudes; these variables explained 19.0% of end-of-life care performance. Conclusion: In order to improve long term care hospital nurses' end-of-life care performance, continuing education and training should be provided regarding awareness of good death and end-of-life care attitudes.

응급구조학과 학생의 건강행위와 생명윤리의식의 관계에서 생활스트레스의 매개효과 (The mediating effect of life stress on the relationship between paramedic student's health behavior and bioethics awareness)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the role of life stress in the relation between health behaviors and bioethics awareness among paramedic students. Methods: This study recruited 238 paramedic students in F and R areas as participants. Multiple regression analysis was performed using Baron and Kenny's three-step procedure. Results: In the first stage, health behaviors had a significant effect on life stress (β=-.202, p<.01). In the second stage, health behaviors had a significant effect on bioethics awareness (β=.240, p<.001). In the third stage, life stress had a significant influence on bioethics awareness (β=-.167, p<.01). In the fourth stage, the regression coefficient of the third stage (β=.137) was less than that of the second stage (β=.159). In addition, when controlling for life stress, health behavior was shown to affect bioethics awareness (β=.206, p<.01). The mediating effect of life stress was found to be significant in the relation between health behavior and bioethics awareness (Z=2.04, p<.05). Conclusion: As health behavior is a factor that affects bioethics awareness through the mediation of living stress, universities should prepare training programs to improve the health behavior and reduce the life stress among students.

일부 치위생과 학생의 자기인식 및 타인인식이 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Self-Awareness and Other-Awareness on College Life adjustment in Dental Hygiene Students)

  • 연구배경: 치위생과 학생들의 자아인식과 타인인식, 대학생활 적응 정도를 알아보고 대학생활 적응에 미치는 요인을 파악하고자 한다. 연구방법: 치위생과 재학생 191명을 대상으로 설문조사에 동의를 구하고 G*power 3.1.9.4 program으로 효과 크기를 산출하였다. 일반적 특성에 따른 자기인식, 타인인식, 대학생활적응의 차이와 상관관계 및 대학생활 적응에 영향요인을 알아보기 위해 독립 표본 t-test 및 일원 배치 분산분석, 사후분석 scheffe, 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 대학생활 적응은 자기인식(r=.301)에서 유의한 정(+)의 상관관계가 나타났고, 하위 요인과의 관련성은 사회적 적응과 사적 자기인식(r=.340), 공적 자기인식(r=.331)에서 가장 높은 정(+)의 상관관계가 나타났다(p<0.01). 타인인식(r=-.051)은 대학생활 적응과 부(-)의 관련성을 보였으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 대학생활 적응 요인으로는 사적 자기인식(β=.232)과 공적 자기인식(β=.254)이 정(+)의 영향을 주었고, 내적 타인인식(β=-.205)이 부(-)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.01) 결론: 치위생과 학생들의 자기인식과 타인인식은 원만한 대학생활 적응에 영향요인으로 대학 생활의 적응력과 전공 직무와 연계한 핵심 역량 배양을 위해 향상 방안이 고려되어야 할 것이다.

유학생의 한국어 수준이 안전의식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect on Safety Awareness of Korean Language Level of International Students)

  • 이 연구는 국내에 거주하는 유학생들의 한국어 수준이 안전의식에 미치는 영향 간에 인과관계를 밝히는 데 그 목적이 있다. 한국어 표현과 이해능력이 안전의식에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석할 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국어 표현능력은 생활안전의식에 정(+)의 영향을 미치나 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 이해능력은 생활안전의식에 부(-)의 영향을 미치나 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한국어 표현능력은 소방안전의식에 유의미한 영향을 미치고, 정(+)의 영향 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 한국어 표현능력은 재난안전의식에 유의미한 영향을 미치고, 정(+)의 영향 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유학생들이 한국에 체류하여 생활하면서 한국 생활에 맞는 안전의식을 준수하도록 강화할 필요가 있으며, 한국어 교육 시 생활 한국어뿐만 아니라 안전과 관련된 주제로 한 한국어 이해 교육도 반드시 강화되어야 할 것이다.

간호사가 지각하는 죽음에 대한 인식과 삶의 의미 (Nurses' Awareness of Death and Meaning of Life)

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate nurses' awareness of death and the meaning of life and identify factors influencing the meaning of life. Methods: Participants were 198 women nurses who had experienced the death of patients. They answered a self-administered questionnaire including demographics, awareness of death scale and meaning in life II scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, and multiple regression (enter method). Results: The average score for awareness of death was $127.3{\pm}10.14$. This score is moderate not biased toward positive or negative. The average score for meaning of life was $130.3{\pm}9.42$ with 51% for loss steps, 45.5% for pursuit steps and 3.5% for discovery steps to the meaning of life. Factors affecting the meaning of life were religion, Buddhism (${\beta}=6.25$, p=.015) or Atheist (${\beta}=5.91$, p=.017), educational level, Master's or higher (${\beta}=16.22$, p=.003), work department, special department (${\beta}=3.49$, p=.017). Conclusions: Results of the study indicate a need to provide nursing programs that will promote nurses' spiritual and inner maturity.
