Performance Evaluation of the Small Automatic Line Marking Equipment (소형 차선도색 자동화 장비의 성능 평가에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the nighttime visibility of the lane, the need for the development of the automated line marking equipment is on the rise. The purpose of this study is to suggest performance assessment methodology that can be assessed from various aspects such as productivity, safety and quality performance of line marking equipment and to comprehensively analyze the performance of hand-operated and automated equipment based on field test. The following shows the results. It suggested a methodology capable of analyzing the performance of the line marking equipment in terms of productivity, safety and quality. Automated equipment for line marking was analyzed that can be obtained productivity achievement rate of 156.3% as compared with hand-operated equipment. On the basis of the expert advise and literature review, we derived twelve safety factors and ten quality factors of unit work in line marking. By utilizing the AHP technique, we estimated the importance of safety and quality factors. Automated equipment for line marking was analyzed to have been able to expect safety improvement rate of 49.8% and quality improvement rate of 47.2%. It is expected that the performance assessment methodology suggested in this study will be useful in analyzing objective and quantitative validity and expected effectiveness of the line marking equipment.

  • The most important thing in acontainer terminal is to handle the cargo effectively in the limited time available. To achieve this objective, many strategies have been introduced and applied. To create an automated container terminal, it is necessary for the cargo handling equipment to be equipped with more intelligent control systems. From the middle of the 1990's, automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGC) and rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTG) have been widely used to handle containers in yards. Recently, many pieces of equipment, like CCD cameras and sensors, have beenmounted in these cranes to cope with the automated terminal environment. In this paper, we try to support the development of more intelligent automated cranes, which allow for more effective cargo handling in yards. For this purpose, the modeling, tracking control, anti-sway system design, skew motion suppressing, and complicated motion control and suppressing problems must be considered. Especially, in this paper, the system modeling and a new tracking control approach are discussed, and an experimental study is performed based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) servosystem design.

From the simulation results, the good control performance of the designed control system is evaluated.

  • In this study, to prevent accidents in underground facilities during excavation, we developed a Lv.3 automated control system that can be configured as an electronic control system without changing the existing hydraulic system in a general excavator and utilized digital map information of underground facilities. We aimed to develop a strategy to prevent accidents caused by operator error. To implement this, a real-time excavator bucket end position recognition and control system was developed through angle measurement of the boom, arm, and bucket using an electronic joystick, RTK-GPS, and angle sensors. In addition, excavators are large, machine-based equipment, and it is difficult to control overshoot due to inertia with feedback control using position recognition information of the bucket tip. Therefore, feed-forward control is used to calculate the moving speed of the bucket tip in real-time to determine the target position. We developed a technology that can converge and verified the performance of the developed system through actual vehicle installation and field tests.

  • The objective of the research is to develop the automated vertical controllable pilot-type equipment for PHC piles. The motivation for the research is that inherent problems related to vertical control during pile driving. The paper explains the current vertical control methods and problems, design and manufacturing of the pilot-type automated equipment and its testing and discussions of the results.

  • The automated construction machines have been recently developed to help solve the construction industry problems that significantly affect labour, productivity, quality, and profit. Despite the importance of performance analysis to commercialize the automated construction machines, previous studies have mainly concentrated on developing hardware and software of automated construction machines. This research now focuses on two objectives: (1) to propose an analysis model which can measure productivity, quality, and safety improvement rate of automated construction machines based on research and development (R&D); and (2) to develop a performance analysis system which will aid the evaluator in analysing the performance of automated construction machines. Finally, it is anticipated that the effective use of the performance analysis model and computerized system will ably develop the high-performance, automated construction machines and establish the marketing strategy to increase not only the commercial value but also the upkeep and development of construction machines.

  • In this study, we introduce a 3D simulation model to support the design on ACT(Automated Container Terminal) using 3D animation. The developed simulation model simulate virtual operations of ACT and animate the simulated results with real time. We provide several validation points for the design of ACT. And the developed system applied an object-oriented design and C++ programming to increase the reusability and extensibility. We can perform the various simulation experiment and analyze performances to estimate the required number of equipment using developed simulation model.

  • The thesis is automated traffic control equipment system aims to improve. Areas where improvement is needed about the existing automated traffic control equipment by applying the latest technology and to improve the things that can be derived. Reflecting the derived improvements, we intend to present a plan for the design and implementation of a new unmanned traffic control device. The main improvements were designed to change the housing material of the unmanned traffic control equipment, simplify the configuration of the equipment, reduce the weight of the equipment, and change the purpose of the software. In order to evaluate the objective performance of the improved unmanned traffic control equipment through this study, it was requested to a public certification authority. The reliability of the equipment was secured through KC certification and durability test. It is intended to present the feasibility of securing the marketability of the unmanned traffic control equipment by comparing and evaluating the construction period and installation cost with the existing unmanned traffic control equipment.

  • Automated container terminals have been developed over the world years and many countries are interested in them because the amount of containers exported or imported is rapidly increasing. The conventional container terminals were not designed to handle this kind of heavily many containers. They would face many structural problems soon or later, although they have been managed to do well so far. One of the most important things in automated container terminal is the handing equipments able to transfer many containers efficiently. Those are maybe automated transfer cranes, automatic guided vehicles and automated quay-side cranes. The word 'automated' means the equipment is operated without drivers and those equipments are able to work without any interruption in working schedule. Through the researches on the conventional transfer cranes, we decided that the structure of conventional transfer cranes is not proper in automated container terminal and it is not possible to handle so many container in limited time. Therefore we have been studying on the proper structure of the automated container for past several years and a new type of transfer cranes has been developed. Design concept and control method of the new crane are introduced and experimental results are presented in this paper.his paper.

  • Demands for higher productivity in container terminal environments continues to escalate consideration of equipment upgrades. And then transportation of containers using the automated container crane becomes more and more important for productivity enhancements. Introducing a hybrid control architecture to the container crane, it provides a effective means to the automated operation of the container crane. This paper addresses the methodology for automation of container cranes. In addition, this paper proposes a new control architecture for the automated container crane and explains each component of that architecture. The control architecture is composed of a deliberative control layer, a sequencing layer, and a reactive control layer. The proposed architecture is applied to a dual-hoist double-trolley container crane.
