Let A be an abelian variety defined over a number field K and p be a prime. Define ${\varphi}_i=(x^{p^i}-1)/(x^{p^{i-1}}-1)$. Let $A_{{\varphi}i}$ be the abelian variety defined over K associated to the polynomial ${\varphi}i$ and let Ш($A_{{\varphi}i}$) denote the Tate-Shafarevich groups of $A_{{\varphi}i}$ over K. In this paper assuming Ш(A/F) is finite, we compute [Ш($A_{{\varphi}1}$)][Ш($A_{{\varphi}2}$)]/[Ш($A_{{\varphi}1{\varphi}2}$)] in terms of K-rational points of $A_{{\varphi}i}$, $A_{{\varphi}1{\varphi}2}$ and their dual varieties, where [X] is the order of a finite abelian group X.

본 연구에서는, 굴착 공사로 인한 주변 건물 손상 평가의 일환으로 지표 변위유형의 효과적인 예측 방안을 제시하였다. 먼저 검증된 유한요소 모델을 국내에서 행해지는 다양한 경우의 굴착특성으로 해석한 결과를 통해 인접 지반의 거동에 대한 매개 변수 연구를 수행하였고, 인공신경망 엔진의 학습을 위한 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 최적의 구조로 학습된 신경망 엔진은 간단한 굴착 특성으로 다양하게 나타나는 지표 변위 유형 예측에 효율적임을 검증하였다.

Compact binaries are important sources of gravitational waves. They are also prime targets for long baseline laser interferometers. In this talk, we present latest progresses made in the Galactic merger rate calculations for compact binaries in the Galactic disk, with an emphasis on NS-NS binaries. For the first time, the non-recycled pulsar found in the Double Pulsar system (PSR J0737-3039B) is included in the rate calculation. We then discuss the prospects of detecting gravitational waves for Earth-based detectors such as advanced LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory) in US and advanced Virgo in Europe, extrapolating the Galactic rate estimates up to the detection volume of the advanced LIGO-Virgo network, Our results support the expectation that gravitational waves emitted from compact binary mergers will be detected within a decade. However, the detection rate of gravitational waves associated with NS-NS mergers is most likely to be several per year that is much smaller than what has been previously known.

This paper presents the prediction of deep excavation-induced ground surface movements using artificial neural network, which is of prime importance in the perspective of damage assessment of adjacent buildings. A finite element model, which can realistically replicate deep-excavation-induced ground movements was employed and validated against available large-scale model test results. The validated model was then used to perform a parametric study on deep excavations with emphasis on ground movements. Using the result of the finite element analysis, Artificial Neural Network(ANN) system is formed, which can be used in the prediction of deep exacavation-induced ground surface displacements. The developed ANN system can be effecting used for a first-order prediction of ground movements associated with deep-excavation.

The present work aims to analyzed the transient thermoelastic stress analysis of a thin circular plate with uniform internal heat generation. Initially, the plate is characterized by a parabolic temperature distribution along the z-direction given by T = T₀(r, z) and perfectly insulated at the ends z = 0 and z = h. For times t > 0, the surface r = a is subjected to convection heat transfer with convection coefficient h_c and fluid temperature T_∞. The integral transform method used to obtain the analytical solution for temperature, displacement, and thermal stresses. The associated thermoelastic field is analyzed by making use of the temperature and thermoelastic displacement potential function. Numerical results are carried out with the help of computational software PTC Mathcad Prime-3.1 and shown in figures.

Let $M^{2n+1}$, $n{\geq}1$, be a smooth manifold with a pseudoconvex integrable CR structure of hypersurface type. We consider a sequence of CR invariant subsets $M={\mathcal{S}}_0{\supset}{\mathcal{S}}_1{\supset}{\cdots}{\supset}{\mathcal{S}}_n$, where $S_q$ is the set of points where the Levi-form has nullity ${\geq}q$. We prove that ${\mathcal{S}}{_q}^{\prime}s$ are locally given as common zero sets of the coefficients $A_j$, $j=0,1,{\ldots},q-1$, of the characteristic polynomial of the Levi-form. Some sufficient conditions for local existence of complex submanifolds are presented in terms of the coefficients $A_j$.

In this paper we investigate a subclass 𝓜(α) of the class of starlike functions in the unit disk |z| < 1. 𝓜(α), π/2 ≤ α < π, is the set of all analytic functions f in the unit disk |z| < 1 with the normalization f(0) = f'(0) - 1 = 0 that satisfy the condition $$1+\frac{{\alpha}-{\pi}}{2\;sin\;{\alpha}}. The class 𝓜(α) was introduced by Kargar et al. [Complex Anal. Oper. Theory 11: 1639-1649, 2017]. In this paper some basic geometric properties of the class 𝓜(α) are investigated. Among others things, coefficients estimates and bound are given for the Fekete-Szegö functional associated with the k-th root transform [f(z^k)]^1/k. Also a certain subclass of bi-starlike functions is introduced and the bounds for the initial coefficients are obtained.

Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP) is a rare benign lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by diffuse infiltration of the pulmonary parenchymal interstitium by polyclonal lymphocytes and plasma cells. LIP has been associated with a variety of clinical conditions; such as connective tissue disorders and other immune system abnormalities. Treatment usually involves administration of corticosteroids and other immunosuppressants. We report on a 38-year-old female patient who complained of shortness of breath, dry mouth, and dry eyes for more than 1 month, and was positive for Raynaud's phenomenon. Based on surgical biopsy, she was diagnosed as having LIP accompanied by $Sj{\ddot{o}}gren^{\prime}s$ syndrome. The patient was treated with high-dose steroids followed by maintenance therapy for approximately 2 years, and her condition improved.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are synthetic organic compounds with two benzene rings and well known environmental pollutants. This study examined the effect of persistent exposure to 2,$3^{\prime}$,4,$4^{\prime}$,5-pentachlorobiphenyl (PCB118) on the proinflammatory and proapoptotic factors in male rats. Male Sprague Dawley rats were administered weekly intraperitoneal injections of either PCB118 (20 mg/kg) dissolved in corn oil or corn oil alone. One week after 2 and 5 administrations, the rats were sacrificed by a pentobarbital injection. The effect of PCB118 on the expression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2), cytosolic phospholipase A2 (cPLA2), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma, Bcl and Bcl-2-associated X protein (BAX) was investigated. The level of COX-2 and cPLA2 expression was higher in the PCB118-treated rats than the control. These results suggest that PCB118 has a proinflammatory effect in rats.

This study examined the short-term variability of $CO_2$ concentrations measured at the Gosan site ($33^{\circ}17^{\prime}N$, $126^{\circ}10^{\prime}E$) in Jeju, Korea for the last 9 years from 2002 to 2010. The weekly distribution shows higher $CO_2$ concentrations during weekends than weekdays which implies the impact of local emissions because Jeju Island is one of the top tourist attraction in Korea. In diurnal variation, $CO_2$ concentration reached the maximum at 6 am and the minimum at 1 pm. The high $CO_2$ concentrations were mostly associated with lower wind speed (below 4 m/s) and easterlies, which was typical of summer night. In other seasons, however, the high concentrations were encountered under strong westerlies (8~16 m/s), which implies the influence of Chinese outflows. $CO_2$ concentrations were found to be highly correlated with meteorological parameters including wind speed, temperature, humidity, and solar radiation except for winter.
