  • This study analyzed the qualifications necessary and manpower required in the Jeju nail art and make-up industry. We aimed to investigate the relationship between NCS education and national technical qualifications. For this study, 164 participants were given a questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed via frequency analysis and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Ver. 18.0. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Matching job seekers with available positions was more difficult in nail art businesses than in makeup businesses. The main routes by which practitioners found jobs were Internet job sites and acquaintances. In addition, experience was the first consideration in hiring employees. 2. Those in high positions had less intention of employing students who had received NCS education, than those in lower positions. Intention to employ NCS graduates was high in businesses that found their employees through Internet job sites, vocational training institutes, acquaintances, or colleagues. Nail art workers prioritized NCS educational units in the following order: nail care, nail shop hygiene, gel nails, cosmetic nail removal, and tips/wraps. Makeup workers had the following priorities: basic makeup, wedding makeup, makeup shop safety, and hygiene management. They also mentioned basic occupational skills such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills. Moreover, the new national licensing system was found to reflect competency in the most important skill sets.

  • This study is aimed at suggesting a direction for the development of sensuous and creative art mask design by making art masks rooted in the aesthetic characteristics of psychedelia. The conceptual definition and characteristics of psychedelia were identified on previous studies, specialized books and works of art. The characteristics of psychedelia based on theoretical research were limited to illusionism, abstraction, play, and dynamism, which are often used in researcher's work, and four research works were produced by combining them with art mask design. By trying to diversify works regardless of form or tradition, this study could make the infinite creation of art mask possible and transform that into a new modern beauty. In addition, by expressing internal meaning along with external characteristics in the design of works, it could bring the establishment of a new perception and value of art mask. In the future, it is hoped that this study will be used as basic data for follow-up research related to art mask design and be helpful in the development of art mask design.

  • This study suggests art makeup design by utilizing the characteristics of psychedelic works. The study analyzed the concept of being psychedelic and art makeup based on precedent studies and publications, and classified the psychedelic characteristics as being those of mysterious, optical illusions, and playfulness. After selecting the work featuring the characteristics of being psychedelic, six works were created with this motif, by integrating the airbrush, the pictorial, and the object techniques of the art makeup expression techniques. As a result, it was demonstrated that the design that has utilized the characteristics of psychedelic works could be applicable to art makeup. Next, the confluence of art works and art makeup can serve as an approach to drawing creative designs. Thus, this study suggests a direction for extending the creativity and variety of art makeup design, and a continued development for art makeup design by further confluences with various areas is expected

By following methodologies mentioned above, conclusively the study categorized distinct expressional characteristics appears in contemporary architecture as a result of merging with new media art. The characteristics of the new media art appeared in contemporary architecture are categorized into three groups such as the design controlling external environment, the design utilizing web environment and the design participated by users. These observation could be translated that architects could present interactive design between users and building as a result from architect's capability of designing protocols which generate variable forms, colors and patterns in architecture. In particular, architecture utilizing web environment has characteristic capability of configurating user's program in virtual space. Also it is anticipated to suggest new patterns in generating architectural programs and forms. These patterns would not recognize the city merely as an incident or fragmented image but would configurate forms and images constructed by individual notional character. In conclusion, the architecture itself is expected to perform as media to open up opportunities that enables to contribute in expediting interactions among environment, users, and buildings by deviating from perspectives of representation as an object expressed in modernism architecture or as a classical decoration in post-modernism architecture in the past era.

In Korea it was since 1985 when 'the art to wear' began to gain attention widely. It is urged that the theory of the 'Gesamtkunstwerk' should be also ac-cepted and shared earnestly.

  • Methods for effective musical score recognition and efficient editing of musical scores are demanded because functions of computers for researches on musical activities become more and more important parts in recent days. In the conventional methods for handling musical scores manually, there are weak points such as incorrect score symbols in input process and requirement of much time to adjust the incorrect symbols. And also there is another weak point that the scores edited by each application program can be remodified by a specific application program only. In this paper, we proposed a method for automatic musical score recognition of printed musical scores in order to make up for the weak points. In the proposed method, staffs in a scanned score image are eliminated by horizontal histogram, noises are removed by 4 directional edge tracking algorithm, and then musical score symbols are extracted by using Grassfire algorithm. The extracted symbols are recognized by hierarchical ART2 algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we used 100 musical scores for experiment. In the experiment, we verified that the proposed method using hierarchical ART2 algorithm is efficient.
