  • KARI is developing Image Data Acquisition and Control System (IDACS) for pre-processing meteorological and ocean data acquired on geostationary orbit. This paper describes the functions and architecture of IDACS and gives its operation policy including backup operation to overcome limitation of single-configured antenna system. The COMS IDACS provides the capability to receive the raw sensor data and disseminate processed MI data to users via a satellite. From the processed image data, users can produce a set of meteorological and ocean products for a wide range of applications. Most of IDACS subsystems are being developed by Korean technologies and experience acquired from previous projects. In case of COMS geometric correction software module, as it is closely dependent on the characteristics of imagers and spacecraft bus system, it is being co-developed with overseas prime contractor who develops spacecraft bus system.

  • The objective of this study is to develope a satellite dynamic simulator, which can test and analyze the performance of spacecraft attitude control, antenna pointing instruments, communication equipments and spacecraft components under the space environment. The satellite simulator can be used to predict the events such as malfunction and failure of satellites in space during operation and can be used to protect against emergencies. At first, the performance test system of attitude control is investigated which can simulate motion and verify stability of spacecraft. Our system consists of an attitude control main processor and a sub-processor including some real hardwares such as attitude sensors and actuators. In this paper, we describe the procedure of designing and manufacturing the dynamic simulator hardware, which consists of the central processor board, the sub-processor board and the sun sensor, and also communication between the components.

A Space-Tapering Approach for a Rectangular Array (직사각형 어레이를 위한 공간체감 방법)

  • It is practical to taper the element (e.g., antenna or sensor) spacing with uniform weight rather than to taper the weights with uniform spacing. In a rectangular array, a triangular grid geometry of elements is more economical than a rectangular grid geometry in terms of reducing the number of elements. A space-tapering approach is proposed to improve the performance of a rectangular phased array with a triangular grid geometry of elements above a ground plane. The effects of space tapering on the main beam width and sidelobe level are discussed. It is shown that the proposed approach improves the sidelobe performance while the main beam width becomes a little broader.

  • Stabilized tracking platform in a missile consisting of a flat planar antenna, pitch/yaw gimbals, gear trains, and current controlled DC drive motors for pitch and yaw gimbal must have a capability to track a target as an inertial sensor in the presence of missile body motion such as maneuvering and vibration.   • If broadband interference signals are incident at an array of sensor/antenna elements, it is desirable to form a set of bnoadband nulls around the directions of the interference signals to improve the array performance. An efficient way of generating a broadband null is to synthesize a derivative null. The performance of a derivative null in a constrained linear array which is subjected to random variations with respect to array weight and element Position is discussed. Computer simulation results are presented.

In this study, we experiment about deburring of edge and surface of nitinol work piece with micro electrolytic-deburring. We made an observation in case electric currents are $1A{\sim}4A$, above 5A and each machining times.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량충돌방지 센서용 24GHz 대역 마이크로스트립 구형패치 배열 안테나의 설계 방법을 제안하였다. 안테나는 송신안테나 $1{\times}2$배열, 수신안테나 $1{\times}2$배열로 각각 구성 하였다. 안테나는 충돌방지용 센서회로 뒷면에 설치될 것이며 RO-4003 기판(h=0.5mm, ${\varepsilon}_r$=3.38)을 사용하여 설계하였다. 안테나 이득은 8.5dBi 이상으로 설계 되었다.

Omni Scanning DPCA using Two Passive Antennas with Vertical Separation

  • In tactical theater, it is crucial to detect ground moving targets and to locate them precisely. This problem can be resolved by using SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) sensors providing GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indication) capability. In general, to implement a robust GMTI sensor is not simple because of the strong competitions between target signals and clutter signals from the ground, and low speed of moving targets. Contrary to the case that a delay canceller is mostly suitable for ground surveillance radars, DPCA (Displaced Phase Centered Antenna) or STAP (Space Time Adaptive Processing) techniques have been widely adapted for GMTI function of modern airborne radars. In this paper, a new scheme of DPCA using two passive antennas with vertical separation is proposed, which also provides good clutter cancellation performance. The proposed scheme realizes full azimuth coverage for DPCA operation on an airborne platform, which is impossible with classical DPCA configuration. Simulations using various conditions have been performed to validate the proposed scheme, and the results are acceptable.

  • A full-polarimetric scatterometer(HPS: Hongik Polarimetric Scatterometer) for X-band is designed, fabricated, and verified using the theoretically well-known point-targets in this paper. The X-band full-polarimetric scatterometer consists of an OMT(Orthogonal-Mode Transducer)+horn antenna, the angle control part for the OMT+horn antenna, a transmitter/receiver with a network analyzer and a frequency-conversion circuitry, and a movable support of these parts. We use an inclinometer sensor to control the vertical and horizontal incidence angles. The full polarimetric data can be obtained because of the polarization switches and the OMT. The accuracy of the scatterometer system is verified by measuring the polarimetric RCS(Radar Cross Section) of one of the theoretically well-known point-targets, i.e., a corner reflector.

  • Autonomous mobile robot has ability to move itself so it can access to danger area or narrow place, and send acquired data by sensors at the same time. In order to drive to directed place, it should progress to the destination without any collision to other robot. In this study, we built and realized the collision avoidance system for autonomous mobile robot. By using antenna, IR and ultrasonic Sensors for collision avoidance, we made it possible to sense the attached and long-distance obstacle, and can avoid. Also, we used wired and wireless network to send the data after the mission.
