  • A fast multiplier and ADC are essential to process the analog signals in real time. The double-base number system(DBNS) is known as an efficient method for this purpose. The DBNS uses the numbers 2 and 3 as the base numbers simultaneously. The system has an advantage of fast multiplication, less chip area, and low power consumption compared to the binary multiplier. However, the inherent errors of the log number's intrinsic tolerance in DBNS are accumulated in a FIR digital filter, so the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) has a tendency to be degraded. In this paper, the nonlinear encoder of ADC is designed to compensate the accumulated errors of DBNS by analysing the error distributions of various filter coefficients. The new ADC does not sacrifice its own advantages because the encoder circuits are modified only. The experiments were done with an FIR filters those were designed to have -70dB of SNR in stop band. The proposed nonlinear ADC encoder could drop the SNR to -45dB in stop band, in contrast to -35dB with the linear encoder.

  • A tobacco ripeness grading meter was designed and constructed using the color sensor, its performance was evaluated. A degree of ripeness grading of a leaf is very closely related to the measured tobacco leaf color. Measuring the small amount of the reflectance precisely depends on the apparatus including color sensor, light source, detector sensitivity, and geometric characteristics of appratus. To analyze and minimize the variational effects, experiments to select the proper condition were performed. Because of the combined effect mentioned above, the system has some variation on its response. Basis on the results of the experiments, prototype was developed and interfaced to a computer system. The main components of prototype included a tungsten lamp as a light source, Amorphous full color sensor with three filters, regulated D.C. power supply, OP - AMP(741 TC) for amplification, AR - B3001 board for interfacing to a computer with analog to digital conversion, and a compatible IBM PC XT computer. The experimental results of the developed ripeness tobacco leaf measurement system are summarized as following: [1] The output readings of ripeness grade meter for tobacco leaf, which is based on harvesting time, showed the apparent difference in variety of different quality. It was considered suitable that three filters(red, green, blue) in Amorphous full color sensor could be used in four different ripeness degree measurement of tobacco leaf. [2] The output readings of ripeness grade meter for tobacco leaf, which is based on government procurement, showed apparent difference in variety of different quality. Tobacco leaf varieties to stalk position are divided into tips, leaf, cutters, and primings, It is considered suitable that only red filter in the sensor could be used to classify the grade of tobacco leaf within the same kind tobacco stalk. However, the ripeness grade meter was not adequate to classify all the tobacco grades in the four different tobacco leaves.

  • This paper presents a novel method for detecting a ghost key at the membrane type keyboard, which has additional resistive coating to the membrane film. Also, the optimal ratio of resistances for detecting a ghost key was designed based on the characteristics of the membrane film. The optimal ratio of resistances was considered to be able to detect the worst case (i.e., difference voltage between normal key and ghost key is minimum). The ability of the proposed methods are evaluated by simulation studies in this paper. In order to verify the proposed method, the experiment was carried out with a designed circuit and A/D (analog to digital) in MCU (micro controller unit). The proposed method is implemented into the membrane type keyboard and is verified by experimental results.

  • This paper proposes a low-power range-scaled 14b 30 MS/s pipeline-SAR composite ADC for high-performance CIS applications. The SAR ADC is employed in the first stage to alleviate a sampling-time mismatch as observed in the conventional SHA-free architecture. A range-scaling technique processes a wide input range of 3.0VP-P without thick-gate-oxide transistors under a 1.8 V supply voltage. The first- and second-stage MDACs share a single amplifier to reduce power consumption and chip area. Moreover, two separate reference voltage drivers for the first-stage SAR ADC and the remaining pipeline stages reduce a reference voltage disturbance caused by the high-speed switching noise from the SAR ADC. The measured DNL and INL of the prototype ADC in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS are within 0.88 LSB and 3.28 LSB, respectively. The ADC shows a maximum SNDR of 65.4 dB and SFDR of 78.9 dB at 30 MS/s, respectively. The ADC with an active die area of $1.43mm^2$ consumes 20.5 mW at a 1.8 V supply voltage and 30 MS/s, which corresponds to a figure-of-merit (FOM) of 0.45 pJ/conversion-step.

  • The multi-channel analog signal to digital signal conversion is increasing in the field of IoT and medical measurement equipments. It has chip area and power consumption constraints to use a few single or 2_channel ADC for multi_channel application. This paper described to design and implement a proposed comb filter for multi-channel, 24bit ADC. The function of proposed comb filter is verified by matlab simulation and the FPGA test board. It was fabricated using SK Hynix 0.35㎛ CMOS standard process. The performance and chip size is compared with the existing design method that uses integrator/differentiator and FIR construction. The proposed comb filter is expected to use the IoT product and medical measurement equipments that require multi-channel, low power consumption and small hardware size.

  • In this study, we will develop the sea surface interpretation system that can aware the target in the bottom of the sea. we will setup the database whose records would be the signal patterns of formation about mud, sand, rock and sea shell achieved by using supersonic. then we will convert analog signal received in fish detector to digital one using A/D converter So we can process and analyze this signal pattern then compare it to the one in our Database at the real time to identify the target in the bottom of the sea. After enough times of experiments from the background of the results that have been achieved from many studies(including a water tank experiment and a field investigation), we can aware the exact information of the sediment and the sand in the sea. By analyzing the first, second and third signal of the supersonic characters reflected from the body of a fish categorized by its family and from the body of shellfish, muddy sand, sand and rocks, We will develop the sea surface decipherment system which abstracts the first signal that shows the target in the bottom of the sea and makes the second and third signals filtering.

  • Records have temporal characteristics, including the past and present; linguistic characteristics not limited to a specific language; and various types categorized in a complex way. Processing records such as text, video, and audio in the life cycle of records' creation, preservation, and utilization entails exhaustive effort and cost. Primary natural language processing (NLP) technologies, such as machine translation, document summarization, named-entity recognition, and image recognition, can be widely applied to electronic records and analog digitization. In particular, Korean deep learning-based NLP technologies effectively recognize various record types and generate record management metadata. This paper provides an overview of Korean NLP technologies and discusses considerations for applying NLP technology in records management. The process of using NLP technologies, such as machine translation and optical character recognition for digital conversion of records, is introduced as an example implemented in the Python environment. In contrast, a plan to improve environmental factors and record digitization guidelines for applying NLP technology in the records management field is proposed for utilizing NLP technology.

  • Nowadays, digital Radiography (DR) systems are widely used in clinical sites and substitute the analog-film x-ray imaging systems. The resolution of DR images depends on several factors such as characteristic contrast and motion of the object, the focal spot size and the quality of x-ray beam, x-ray scattering, the performance of the DR detector (x-ray conversion efficiency, the intrinsic resolution). The DR detector is composed of an x-ray capturing element, a coupling element and a collecting element, which systematically affect the system resolution. Generally speaking, the resolution of a medical imaging system is the discrimination ability of anatomical structures. Modulation transfer function (MTF) is widely used for the quantification of the resolution performance for an imaging system. MTF is defined as the frequency response of the imaging system to the input of a point spread function and can be obtained by doing Fourier transform of a line spread function, which is extracted from a test image. In clinic, radiologic technologists, who are in charge of system maintenance and quality control, have to evaluate or make routine check on their imaging system. However, it is not an easy task for the radiologic technologists to measure MTF accurately due to lack of their engineering and mathematical backgrounds. The objective of this study is to develop and provide for radiologic technologists a medical system imaging evaluation tool, so that they can measure and quantify system performance easily.
