액체급냉법에 의해 제조한 비정질 Co-Nb-B 합금의 전기화학적 부식 특성 (Electrochemical Corrosion Properties of Amorphous Co-Nb-B Alloys Prepared by Melt-Spinning Method)

  • This study was undertaken to examine the electrochemical corrosion properties of an $Co_{80}Nb_{10}B_{10}$ and $Co_{82}Nb_8B_{10}$ amorphous alloys prepared by melt-spinning method under various conditions. The potentiodynamic polarization responses at various levels of pH (pH 2, pH 7, pH 12) showed that the corrosion current rate of $Co_{80}Nb_{10}B_{10}$ alloy is lower than that of $Co_{82}Nb_8B_{10}$ alloy in all levels of pH, implying the general corrosion resistance of the alloy with higher Nb content is better than that with higher Co content. The pitting potential of $Co_{80}Nb_{10}B_{10}$ alloy was also better than that of $Co_{82}Nb_8B_{10}$, evidenced by the higher pitting potential. Nb is thought to be effective in increasing the protectiveness of the passive film and hence to improve the corrosion resistance of Co-Nb-B alloys.

  • The hydrogen sorption speed of $Zr_{57}V_{36}Fe_7$ nanocrystalline and amorphous alloys was evaluated at room temperature. Nanocrystalline alloys of $Zr_{57}V_{36}Fe_7$ were prepared by planetary ball milling. The hydrogen sorption speed of nanocrystalline alloys was higher than that of the amorphous alloy. The enhanced sorption speed of nanocrystalline alloys was explained in terms of surface oxygen stability which has been known to retard the activation of amorphous alloys. The retardation can be reduced by formation of nanocrystals, which results in the observed increase in sorption properties.

  • The melt-spun amorphous $Fe_{77-X}P_{13}C_4B_4Al_2Mo_X$(x=4~10) and $Fe_{82-X}P_XC_4B_4Al_2Mo_8$(x=9~15) alloys were found to exhibit a large supercooled liquid region(${\Delta}T_x$) exceeding 40 K before crystallization. The largest ${\Delta}T_x$ for the glassy alloys containing Mo reaches as large as 65 K for the $Fe_{69}P_{13}C_4B_4Al_2Mo_8$ alloy. The corrosion behavior of the amorphous $Fe_{77-X}P_{13}C_4B_4Al_2Mo_X$(x=4~15) and $Fe_(82-X)P_XC_4B_4Al_2Mo_8$ (x=9~17) alloys were examined by electrochemical measurements in 9M $H_2SO_4$ solution at 303 K. The addition of Mo(or P) for replacing some portion of Fe is effective in improving the corrosion resistance of the investigated Fe-based glassy alloys. They are spontaneously passivated and have a wide passive region with low passive current density.

  • 큰 비정질 형성능을 가지는 FeSiBNb 비정질 리본 합금의 열적 및 자기적 특성에 미치는 Co의 첨가 효과에 대하여 연구되었다. 두께 $40\;{\mu}m$의 비정질$(Fe_{1-X}Co_X)_{72}Si_4B_{20}Nb_4(x=0{\sim}0.5)$ 합금에 대한 열분석 결과, Fe에 대한 Co의 치환량이 증가할수록 과냉각 액상의 존재 온도 범위가 넓어져 비정질 형성능이 증가하는 것으로 평가되었다. 또 Co 농도의 증가에 따라 약간의 $B_8$(800A/m에서의 유도 자속밀도)의 감소가 얻어지나, 투자율이 현저하게 증가하고 철손이 크게 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 한편 두께가 두꺼운 상기 비정질 합금의 교류 투자율의 주파수 특성은 와전류에 의한 표피 효과의 증대 때문에 $20\;{\mu}m$ 정도의 두께를 가지는 통상의 비정질 리본 합금에 비해 열화되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The main purpose of this paper was to investigate the change of rapidly solidified microstructures and dispersoid behavior according to heat-treatment in the Al-Fe-V-Si-(Mn) alloys. It was found that (111) preferred orientation identified by X-ray diffraction and fine subgrain/large grain were observed in the rapidly solidified Al-Fe-V-Si-(Mn) alloys. Cell boundary of the zone A was composed of the microcrystalline, whereas that of the zone B was amorphous. Decomposition of the Al-Fe-V-Si-(Mn) alloys occurred at about $300^{\circ}C$. These alloys exhibited excellent thermal stability at the elevated temperature. Microstructure of the zone B was more stable than that of the zone A. The spherical dispersoid and 5-fold symmetry phase was also more thermally stable than the amorphous structure of cell boundary.

넓은 과냉각 액체영역을 가지는 Ni-Nb-Ti-Zr계 비정질 합금의 제조 (Fabrication of Ni-Nb-Ti-Zr Amorphous Alloys with Wide Supercooled Liquid Region)

  • Ni-Nb-Ti-Zr amorphous alloys were manufactured using melt-spinning methods. Amorphous formability, the supercooled liquid region before crystallization and mechanical properties were examined. The value of the reduced glass transition temperature and the supercooled liquid region of $Ni_{62}Nb_{10}Ti_{13}Zr_{15}$ alloy were relatively high and were 0.612 and 76 K respectively. However, amorphous bulk alloy rod was not formed using the Cu-mold die casting. The mechanical properties were in the range of $800{\sim}900DPN$ of hardness and $2.5{\sim}2.8$ GPa of tensile strength in the whole composition range.

아몰퍼스 고온 판재성형시 스프링백 (Spring Back in Amorphous Sheet Forming at High Temperature)

  • This paper is concerned with spring back after sheet forming of bulk amorphous alloys in the super cooled liquid state. The temperature-dependence and strain-rate dependence of Newtonian/non-Newtonian viscosities as well as the stress overshoot/undershoot behavior of amorphous alloys are reflected in the thermo-mechanical Finite Element simulations. Hemispherical deep drawing operations are simulated for various forming conditions such as punch velocity, die comer radius, friction, blank holder force, clearance and initial funning temperature. Here, spring back by an instantaneous elastic unloading was followed by thermal deformation during cooling, and two modes of spring back are examined in detail. It could be concluded that the superior sheet formability of an amorphous alloy can be obtained by taking the proper forming conditions for loading/unloading.

벌크 비정질 합금의 초저온 소성 (Enhanced Plasticity of Bulk Amorphous Alloys at Cryogenic Temperature)

  • We investigated the cryogenic temperature plasticity of a bulk amorphous alloy. Experiments showed that as temperature decreases, the plasticity of the alloy increases, such that the alloy exhibited ~20% of plastic strain when tested at $-196^{\circ}C$. This enhancement in the plasticity at cryogenic temperatures was associated with the formation of abundant shear bands distributed uniformly over the entire surface of the sample. Nonetheless, the serrations, the characteristic feature of the plastic deformation of amorphous alloys, were unclear at $-196^{\circ}C$. In this study, both the enhanced plasticity and the unclear serrations exhibited by the amorphous alloy at cryogenic temperatures were clarified by exploring shear banding behaviors in the context of the velocity and the viscosity of a propagating shear band.

비정질 합금의 부식저항성에 미치는 열처리의 영향 (Effect of Isothermal annealing on the Corrosion Resistance of an Amorphous Alloy)

  • This study examined the role of excess free volume on the corrosion resistance of an amorphous alloy. Corrosion behaviors were monitored on the amorphous alloys, of which amount of free volume was controlled via the isothermal annealing below the glass transition temperature, using immersion tests and potentiodynamic polarization tests in HCl aqueous solutions. It was found that the corrosion resistance of the amorphous alloy is improved by reducing the amount of excess free volume. The possible reason explaining the experimental result was discussed from the viewpoint of the internal energy associated with the annihilation of excess free volume.

  • Amorphous $MgNi_{1-x}Ti_x$ alloys with the composition of x=0.02, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07 were synthesized by mechanical alloying. The synthesized alloys were investigated by electrochemical test, XRD and SEM. As increasing Ti concentration, the initial discharge capacity was raised more than that of nanocrystalline Mg-Ni 289 mAh/g, but the electrodes were degraded faster. Comparing to other synthesized alloys, $MgNi_{0.95}Ti_{0.05}$ alloy showed the highest initial discharged capacity 474 mAh/g and maintained $54\%$ of the initial capacity after 10 cycles.
