To improving the mechanical properties of Mg alloys at high temperature, we investigated the mechanical properties at high temperature and the change of microstructure of Mg-6 wt%Zn-0.4 wt%Mn and Mg-6 wt%Zn-0.4 wt%Mn-1 wt%Ag alloys on age treatment that have a stable MgZn phase at high temperature and $AgMg_4$ improving yield stress. In order to predict thermodynamic data of Mg alloys, a phase diagram and precipitation phase were calculated using a thermodynamic program, and it was confirmed that the MgZn and $AgMg_4$ phase existed as main precipitation in this alloys. The experimental data examined using DSC and XRD were comparable with the calculated data for reliability. In order to analysis the microstructure and precipitate phase during aging treatment, it was measured by SEM/EDS and TEM. Lastly, mechanical properties of the MgZn and $AgMg_4$ phase were measured by a tensile test at high temperature.

The effect of long-term aging degradation on magnetic properties of ferritic 11Cr low-carbon steel was investigated. Coercivity and hysteresis loss measured from the hysteresis loops decreased with long-term aging time and showed that the relation was well fitted by a second order exponential function. Vickers hardness also decreased with aging time and resulted in mechanical softening. In addition, the microstructural evolution was observed by the scanning electron microscopy, backscattered electron image and X-ray diffraction. The $Cr_{23}C_6$ precipitates along grain boundary grew fast and Laves ($Fe_2W$) phase on martensitic lath boundaries in interior grains was developed. The solid solution atoms depleted in matrix and lath subgrains recovered owing to precipitate coarsening with long-term aging degradation. There was a close relation with softening of magnetic and mechanical properties.
In the present investigation, thermal aging behavior of H-NBR/NBR blend with various H-NBR content was investigated. Mixture of dicumyl peroxide and sulfur were used as a curing agent. The influence of the thermal aging of the H-NBR/NBR blends on the solid state properties such as tensile strength, elongation at break, hardness and abrasion resistance was investigated. Tensile strength was increased with increasing H-NBR content, while abrasion resistance was decreased. Both elongation at break and hardness were not affected by the addition of H-NBR. The properties such as hardness, tensile strength and elongation at break of the aged samples were lower than unaged samples. However, the rate of deterioration of those properties was decreased by increasing the H-NBR content, which indicated that improved thermal aging behavior was obtained by the addition of H-NBR. Abrasion loss was increased with increasing aging time, but it became less by the addition of H-NBR addition.
PURPOSE. The aims of this study were to investigate mechanical properties and hydrothermal degradation behaviour of the cubic-containing translucent yttrium oxide stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four groups of Y-TZP (T, ST, XT, and P), containing different amount of cubic crystal, were examined. Specimens were aged by autoclaving at 122℃ under 2 bar pressure for 8 h. Phase transformation was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) to measure phase transformation (t→m). Kruskal-Wallis test was used to determine the difference. Surface hardness, biaxial flexural strength, and fracture toughness in values among the experimental groups and verified with Wilcoxon matched pairs test for hardness values and Mann Whitney U for flexural strength and fracture toughness. RESULTS. XRD analysis showed no monoclinic phase in XT and P after aging. Only Group T showed statistically significant decreases in hardness after aging. Hydrothermal aging showed a significant decrease in flexural strength and fracture toughness in group T and ST, while group XT and P showed no effect of aging on fractural strength and fracture toughness with P<.05. CONCLUSION. Hydrothermal aging caused reduction in mechanical properties such as surface hardness, biaxial flexural strength, and fracture toughness of Y-TZP zirconia. However, cubic-containing zirconia (more than 30% by volume of cubic crystal) was assumed to have high resistance to hydrothermal degradation. Clinical significance: Cubic-containing zirconia could withstand the intraoral aging condition. It could be suggested to use as a material for fabrication of esthetic dental restoration.

Tensile and LCF(low cycle fatigue) tests were carried out in air at wide temperature range 20$^{\circ}C$-750$^{\circ}C$ and strain rates of 1${\times}$10$\^$-4//s-1${\times}$10$\^$-2/ to ascertain the influence of strain rate on tensile and LCF properties of prior cold worked 316L stainless steel, especially focused on the DSA(dynamic strain aging) regime. Dynamic strain aging induced the change of tensile properties such as strength and ductility in the temperature region 250$^{\circ}C$-600$^{\circ}C$ and this temperature region well coincided with the negative strain rate sensitivity regime. Cyclic stress response at all test conditions was characterized by the initial hardening during a few cycles, followed by gradual softening until final failure. Temperature and strain rate dependence on cyclic softening behavior appears to result from the change of the cyclic plastic deformation mechanism and DSA effect. The DSA regimes between tensile and LCF loading conditions in terms of the negative strain rate sensitivity were well consistent with each other. The drastic reduction in fatigue resistance at elevated temperature was observed, and it was attributed to the effects of oxidation, creep and dynamic strain aging or interactions among them. Especially, in the DSA regime, dynamic strain aging accelerated the reduction of fatigue resistance by enhancing crack initiation and propagation.
Mechanical properties of in-service facilities are required to evaluate the integrity of power plants and chemical plants. Non-destructive technique can be used to evaluate the mechanical properties. To investigate the mechanical properties using ultrasonic technique, the four classes of thermally aged specimens were prepared using an artificially accelerated aging method. Ultrasonic tests, tensile tests, fracture toughness tests, and hardness tests were performed for the specimens. Then the mechanical properties were compared with ultrasonic parameters such as attenuation and non-linear parameter. From the investigation, we confirm that the ultrasonic parameter can be used to evaluate the mechanical properties.

Quick aging of catalysts has done with IAE(Institute for advanced engineering) AGING MODE suggested by IAE. To estimate the effects of number of aging cycle, temperature and $H_2O$, characteristics of surfaces, mechanical properties and weibull modulus were estimated. Also, the conversion efficiency of aged catalysts was evaluated with model gas bench test. The area of surface and pore volume were decreased according to the number of aging cycle. The precious metal which is well dispersed in fresh state was sintered and agglomerated with aging. The mechanical of deactivation and sintering of catalysts are discussed on the basis of mechanical tests. The conversion efficiency was decreased with the repeats of aging. Especially, the existence of $H_2O$ in supply gas had a main role in catalyst deactivation withy high temperature.

This study describes the aging behavior of soils and its mechanism, which have been reported in the literatures mainly by Mitchell(1986) and Schmertmann(1991). It could be known that aging of soils has both positive and negative effects on mechanical properties of soils. In order to show aging effects on dam behavior, a parametric study was carried out based considering the presence of a weak area within clay core zone of the fill dam. From the comparison of results obtained from numerical analysis and filed investigation, age-softening phenomena occurred within core zone during about 30 years after its completion.
Pre-aging heat treatment after solution heat treatment (SHT) of Al-0.4 wt%Mg-1.2 wt%Si-0.1 wt%Mn alloy sheets for auto-bodies was carried out to investigate the effect of pre-aging and its conditions on the bake-hardening response. Mechanical properties were evaluated by a tensile and Vickers hardness test. Microstructural observation was also performed using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). It was revealed that pre-aging treatments play a great role in the bake-hardening response. In addition, it was found that the sphere-shaped nanosized clusters that can directly transit to the needle-shaped ${\beta}$" phase during the paint-bake process, not being dissolved into the matrix, are formed at 343 K. The result, reveals that the dominant factor of the bake-hardening response is the pre-aging temperature rather than the pre-aging time.

Gene expression is regulated by a wide range of mechanisms at the DNA sequence level. In addition, gene expression is also regulated by epigenetic mechanisms through DNA methylation, histone modification, and ncRNA. To understand the regulation of gene expression at the epigenetic level, we constructed aging related gene database and analyzed epigenetic properties that are focused on DNA methylation. The DNA methylation of promoter or upstream region of the genes induces to repress the gene expression. We compared and analyzed distribution between whole human genes and aging related genes in the epigenetic properties such as CGI distribution, methylation motif pattern, and TFBS (transcription factor binding site) distribution. In contrast to methylation motif pattern, CGI and TFBS distributions are positively correlated with epigenetic regulation of aging related gene expression. In this study, the epigenetic data about DNA methylation of the aging genes will provide us to understand phenomena of the aging and epigenetic mechanism for regulation of aging related genes.
