  • What we will be concerned with is, first, the question of the condition about $\mathcal{L}$ that gives Alg$\mathcal{L}$ a von Neumann algebra, that is, the question of the condition about $\mathcal{L}$ that will give Alg$\mathcal{L}$ a self-adjoint algebra. Secondly, if Alg$\mathcal{L}$ is a von Neumann algebra, we want to find out what type it is.

  • In this paper, we consider the topological derivative concept for developing a fast imaging algorithm of thin inclusions with dielectric contrast with respect to an embedding homogeneous domain with a smooth boundary. The topological derivative is evaluated by applying asymptotic expansion formulas in the presence of small, perfectly conducting cracks. Through the careful derivation, we can design a one-iteration imaging algorithm by solving an adjoint problem. Numerical experiments verify that this algorithm is fast, effective, and stable.

  • Identifying the stability of rotor systems is prerequisite for clear determination of the parameter identification and safety, through which operating conditions may be rationally ascertained. For this purpose, the complex modal analysis of periodically time-varying system has been introduced by transforming the relation between periodic eigen-vectors and the corresponding adjoint vectors into the latent value problem. Stability investigation associated with modal features for rotor systems is performed using numerical simulation based upon the analysis model.

  • We obtained sufficient conditions for $\phi$(t)-stability and uniform $\phi$(t)-stability of the trivial solution of comparison differential system. we also investigated the corresponding stability concepts of the trivial solution of the differential system using the thoery of differential inequlities through cones and the method of conevalued Lyapunov functions.

  • The design of multi-domain that considers all components of the electromagnetic systems such as air, iron, magnet, and coil is investigated using the topology optimization, interpolation method, and FEM. The design sensitivity equation for the topology optimization is derived using the adjoint variable method and the continuum approach. The proposed method is applied to the topology optimization of C-core actuator.

  • This paper presents design sensitivity analysis for the electromagnetic force and torque obtained from Coulomb's virtual work method using the adjoint variable method. And virtual displacement field is calculated from a static structural analysis. Derived equations are verified by comparison with finite different method. And topology optimization for a c-core is given as a verification example.

  • This research presents a 3D multi-objective approach regarding both magnetic and thermal characteristics associated with design of C-core actuator. The adjoint variable topology sensitivity equations are derived using the continuum method for three dimension. The sensitivity is verified using the Finite Difference Method(FDM). Convection interpolation function is proposed for density method of topologies such that convection term can be taken into consideration for practical design in the process of the optimization.

  • Continuum element sensitivity analysis (CONTESA) and system optimization (SYSOPT) for Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) have been developed and applied to automobile structures for sizing, topology, and configuration design using Mindlin plate and Timoshenko beam theories. The topology optimization has been developed using the density approach, sequential linear programming, and the adjoint variable method. CONTESA has been tested using various vehicle models. Optimized vehicles using CONTESA and SYSOPT are manufactured to validate the simulation-based design methodology.
