  • EEG-based brain-computer interfaces has focused on explicitly expressed intentions to assist physically impaired patients. For EEG-based-computer interfaces to function effectively, it should be able to understand users' implicit information. Since it is hard to gather EEG signals of human brains, we do not have enough training data which are essential for proper classification performance of implicit intention. In this paper, we improve the subject independent classification of implicit intention through the generation of additional training data. In the first stage, we perform the PCA (principal component analysis) of training data in a bid to remove redundant components in the components within the input data. After the dimension reduction by PCA, we train ICA (independent component analysis) network whose outputs are statistically independent. We can get additional training data by adding Gaussian noises to ICA outputs and projecting them to input data domain. Through simulations with EEG data provided by CNSL, KAIST, we improve the classification performance from 65.05% to 66.69% with Gamma components. The proposed sample generation method can be applied to any machine learning problem with fewer samples.

  • In this paper, a method to decide the number of additional edges to integrate two communities in social network by using modularity is studied. The modularity is a measure to be used to describe the quality of the community. By adding additional edges to the communities, the quality of the communities is enhanced, To integrate two communities, we propose methods to decide the number of additional edges by calculating the modularity. Also, the conditions that the proposed method is valid is investigated in a simple test graph and the efficiency of the proposed method is approved by integrating two communities in Zachary Karate Club network.

  • If additional condition in letter of credit is used in malicious way, it affects the international trade transaction in jeopardy. Therefore, it's significant to identify whether additional conditions are malicious or ordinary in the transaction with letter of credit. In normal cases, thanks to lots of useful features as an international payment method, such as security of payment, legal protection, and versatility, a letter of credit is widely used in international trade. However, even with these advantageous features, a letter of credit is complicate and costly to use, compared to other payment methods. Furthermore, due to its principle of independence from underlying contract, a use of letter of credit creates another type of concern for proper handling and needs significant caution upon field use. At some points, malicious additional conditions are used for buyer's advantage in deal making and fraud instance in worst situation. In addition, some countries request malicious conditions against sellers as a non-tariff barrier. Therefore it's extremely important to recognize whether malicious additional condition exists in letter of credit and, if so, how to deal with it. This study delivers the information to distinguish and categorize the malicious conditions in various cases and to figure out how to deal with them for safer trade with less risk.

  • In general, under interactive broadcasting environment, user finds additional service using top-down menu. However, user can't know that additional service provides information until retrieval has finished and top-down menu requires multi-level retrieval. This paper proposes the new method for additional service providing not using top-down menu but using object selection. For the purpose of this method, the movie of a MPEG should be synchronized with the object information(position, size, shape) and object tracking technique is required. Synchronization technique uses the Directshow provided by the Microsoft. Object tracking techniques use a motion-based tracking and a model-based tracking together. We divide object into two parts. One is face and the other is substance. Face tracking uses model-based tracking and Substance uses motion-based tracking base on the block matching algorithm. To improve precise tracking, motion-based tracking apply the temporal prediction search algorithm and model-based tracking apply the face model which merge ellipse model and color model.

  • In this research, a cockpit display system using 3 dimensional geographic information was developed. A coordinate transformation method from WGS84 to TM was first studied. Octree data structure was used for efficient 2D and 3D graphic display. Also, a 3D graphic engine was developed for fast display with large amount of geographic data which can be practically used in aircraft onboard computer having low performance. This 3D engine contains additional function such as geographic and object information loading, many kinds of camera mode, aircraft position and rotation control function, character strip display. In the future research, actual GPS signal should be used and additional information that can help pilot's decision should be display.

  • Information is an essential factor leading the rapid progress which is one of the distinguished characteristics in modem society. As more information is required and as more is supplied by individuals, governmental units, businesses, and educational institutions, the greater will be the requirement for efficient methods of communication. One possibility for improving the information dissemination process is to use computers. The capabilities of such machine are beginning to be used in the process of Information storage, retrieval and dissemination. An important problems, that must be carefully examined is whether one technique for information retrieval is better for worse than another. This paper examines problem of how to evaluate an information retrieval system. One specific approach is a cost accounting model for use in studying how to minimize the cost of operating a mechanized retrieval system. Through the use of cost analysis, the model provides a method for comparative evaluation between systems. The general cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system being designed by this study are given below. 1. The total cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system. The total cost of the literature retrieval system = (the cost per unit of user time X the amount of user time) + ( the cost per unit of system time X the amount of system time) 2. System cost accounting model system cost = (the pre-search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the post search system cost per unit of time X time) 1) Pre-search system cost per unit of time = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 2) Search system cost per unit of time = comparison cost + document representation cost. 3) Post-search system cost per unit of time. = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 3. User cost accounting model Total user cost = [pre-search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ] + [search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ] + [post-search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ].

  • This paper presents a method of score counting for computer Go that includes the consideration of stability, management of dead stones, and an algorithm for score counting. Thus, method for managing dead stones, filling all dames, and making additional moves is presented, along with a score-counting algorithm, where dames are defined as empty points that are not included in the area of a group, while additional moves are required for life when filling all the dames. In experiments using the final positions of 362 games, a mean error of 8.66, 5.96, and 4.15 was recorded for the score counting produced by the CGoban, HandTalk, and proposed methods, respectively. The proposed method was confirmed by experiments where it was success fully applied to the final positions.

  • This thesis is a study on using of entropy information about the additional words in the after processing step to promote an accuracy in speech recognition system. The exsisting ratio of Woodo detective method changes the efficiency of speech recognition system according to speech data and increases the probability of producing error recognition because of similarity of value of Woodo in the additional words. But we could obtain the accurate speech recognition system which heightens discrimination becoming independent of speech data by using of after processing method refusing a candidate which entropy price is lower among words except words we could recognize than entropy Price of each additional word. As a result of this experiment when the false alarm is 20 percent, we could put out the maximum 3.6 percent efficiency of recognition system through this after processing method by entropy more than the method by ratio of Woods.

  • We propose, for the first time to our knowledge, a novel gain-clamping method for EDFA in WDM add/drop networks by introducing a disturbance observer technique. The control input signal for gain-clamping is composed of a nominal control signal and an additional control signal of compensating the gain fluctuations caused by channel add/drops. Based on disturbance observer technique, we designed the additional control signal such that it has the compensating information of estimated disturbance resulted from channel add/drops. The circuit for generating additional control signal can easily be implemented by using simple electronic devices. We proved the superiority of the new technique over the previous ones by showing simulation results of minimized dips and spikes that appear in power profile of EDFA in the process of channel add/drops.
