  • In recent years, there have been many researches about Ad-hoc Networks which is available to communicate freely between mobile devices by using multi-hop without any support of relay base or access point. TCP that used the most widely transport protocol in the Internet repeats packet loss and retransmission because it increases congestion window size by using reactive congestion control until packet loss occurs. As a result of this, energy of mobile device is wasted unnecessarily. In this paper, we propose TCP-New Veno in order to improve the energy efficiency of mobile device. According to the state of network, the scheme adjusts appropriate size of congestion window. Therefore, the energy efficiency of mobile device and utilization of bandwidth are improved by the scheme. From the simulation by using ns-2, we could see more improved energy efficiency with TCP-New Veno than those with TCP in Ad-hoc Networks.

  • This work proposes a new distributed and self-organized authentication scheme for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). Apart from describing all its components, special emphasis is placed on proving that the proposal fulfils most requirements derived from the special characteristics of MANETs, including limited physical protection of broadcast medium, frequent route changes caused by mobility, and lack of structured hierarchy. Interesting conclusions are obtained from an analysis of simulation experiments in different scenarios.

  • Being different from traditional mobile communication networks or wireless LAN with access points, ad hoc network can provide direct communications between homogeneous stations. Thus, it can be considered as a much advanced network. Somehow, many researches have been done to enhance system performance of ad hoc networks up to now, one of which is cooperative communications. In this paper, a cooperative MAC protocol, called CO-MAC protocol, is proposed and its performance is evaluated with a mathematical approach. Numerical results show that this scheme provides more enhanced system throughput especially when frame transmission error probability is high than DCF scheme, which is the key protocol in IEEE 802.11 standard, and rDCF scheme.

  • Until now, much research on cooperative communications to increase system throughput at Ad Hoc networks has been provided. In this paper, in order to enhance system throughput much more at Ad Hoc networks, a network coding-enabled new MAC protocol, called NC-MAC protocol, is proposed and its performance is evaluated with a mathematical approach. Numerical results show that this scheme provides conspicuously enhanced system throughput compared to DCF scheme, and more increased system throughput by 48% than rDCF and CO-MAC schemes.

  • Ad-hoc networks have the dynamic topology characteristics and most of the applications on ad-hoc networks require the group communication capability. Previously proposed multicast mechanisms on mobile ad-hoc networks build multicast-infrastructures like the tree or mesh for the group communication and these infrastructures nay cause significant overhead especially in a highly dynamic mobile ad-hoc network environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new multicast mechanism supporting multicast services based on only the underlying unicast routing tables, hence any multicast-related infrastructures like trees and meshes are not required to be constructed.

  • Wireless devices can communicate between each other without existing infrastructure in mobile Ad-hod network. Ad hoc networks can be used under difficult conditions, where it is difficult to construct infrastructures, such as shadowing areas, disaster areas, war area, and so on. In order to support to considerable and various wireless services, more spectrum resources are needed. However, efficient utilization of the frequency resource is difficult because of spectrum scarcity and the conventional frequency regulation. Ad-hoc networks employing cognitive radio (CR) system that guarantee high spectrum utilization provide effective way to increase the network capacity. In this paper, we simulate and compare the performance of conventional single and cooperative spectrum sensing with CR system using ad-hoc networks in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh channel model. And we demonstrate performance improvement by analyzing the system performance.

  • Many routing protocols have been proposed for low-power and ad-hoc networks where energy awareness and reliability are essential design issues. This paper proposes a dynamic routing protocol for low-power and ad-hoc networks. A dynamic path cost function is defined considering the constraints and characteristics of low-power and ad-hoc networks. The cost function can be applied flexibly depending on the characteristics of the networks. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using a QualNet network simulator.

  • In mobile ad hoc networks where the communication nodes are moving around, one may perform dynamic routing that can increase the total communication throughput of the network, by determining the ranks of pairs of nodes according to their communication throughput. The balanced Howell rotation is a tournament design scheme for bridge games. This paper explains that the balanced Howell rotation can be applied to enhance the overall communication throughput of mobile ad hoc networks, and proposes and proves the condition under which the balanced Howell rotations may exist.

  • A mobile ad-hoc network is composed of only mobile nodes, which are distributed dynamically, without any wired backbone or centralized entities. Since the existing works on ad-hoc routing protocol are mostly biased toward a military application, we need a new routing scheme for a support of multimedia services in mobile ad-hoc networks. Therefore, we propose a novel scheme that can support a variety of traffic attributes and can be applicable to high-speed and multimedia data services in mobile ad-hoc networks by using adaptive transmission power level. As a result of simulation, the proposed scheme has better performance than conventional method, which is performed with uniform transmission power level, in view of route query delay time.

  • In this paper, we propose the enhanced CSMA/CA MAC protocol fir mobile multi-hop wireless Ad-hoc networks. In the conventional wireless Ad-hoc network such as WLAN using CSMA/CA MAC protocol, communications between terminals that fn connected within multi-hop node may degrade the transmission efficiencies as increasing the multi-hop nodes because of RTS-CTS-DATA-ACK message exchange between terminals. In this raper, we apply the ACK/RTS control message into multi-hop transmission between terminals for wireless ad-hoc networks and improve the data traffic transmission efficiencies compared with conventional CSMA/CA MAC protocol used in WLAN.
