『상한론(傷寒論)』 변병진단체계(辨病診斷體系)에 근거하여 소음병(少陰病) 오수유탕(吳茱萸湯)을 투여한 후 호전된 구진성·결절성 여드름 증례 1례 (A Case Report of a papule and nodule acne patient Treated with Osuyu-tang Based on Shanghanlun Provisions)

  • Objective: In this study, we aimed to inform people that acne can be improved with Osuyu-tang (OSYT) based on the Shanghanlun disease pattern identification diagnostic system (DPIDS). Methods: We evaluated the progress of symptoms, patient compliance, and presence of side effects after the patient took OSYT. The progress of acne treatment was evaluated using the Korean Acne Grading System (KAGS), visual findings, and patient statements. Results: According to the DPIDS, the patient was diagnosed with provision 309 of soyinbing. After administration of OSYTfor 50 days, KAGS decreased from grade 3 to grade 1. Cold hands and feet improved significantly. Conclusions: Through this case study, we showed the possibility of the clinical interpretation and application of OSYT and suggested further case studies in the future.

흉터재생침과 미세피부침을 이용한 여드름 흉터의 치험례 (Case Study of Treating Acne Scar Using Scar Regeneration Acupuncture Therapy and Micro-needle Therapy)

  • Objectives : There are numerous methods in treating acne scar. On the contrary there are hardly any cases on treating acne scars through Korean medicine. By observing we compared how much acne scar was treated by scar regeneration acupuncture therapy and micro-needle therapy treatment through observing pre and post case photos, KAGS, KCADI and patient satisfaction. Results : By comparing pre and post procedure through acne scar grade criteria, total of 5 patients showed improvement and could see distinct change in skin comparing case photos. After comparing pre and post procedures, total of 5 patients showed improvements in figures of Korean acne index. 4 patients replied very satisfied and 1 replies satisfied on patient satisfaction survey. Conclusions : After observing patients satisfaction, and comparing case photos, acne scar grade criteria, korean acne index, it can be considered that scar regeneration acupuncture therapy and micro-needle therapy done in our clinic to be valid treatment.

  • Objectives This study is report the effect of Asian Medical treatments for acne. Methods 25 years old mixed Hispanic female in California resident patient who was suffering from acne was treated with the Chung-We mix Extract powder, Houttuyniae Herba Extract and comedone extractor. She was taken a picture to compare with before and after treatments. Results Her acne was decreased and global acne grading system by 35 points to 7point improvement on the after treatments. Conclusion This case has the effectiveness with Herbs. According to Asian medicine, the caused of acne is internal problems and the acne is diagnosed as several kind of heats in the internal organ. Further clinical case of acne is needed for better results and to develop the ways of accurate diagnosis.

  • Objective : This study aims to explain the effect of Osuyu-tang on an acne vulgaris which a Soeumbyeong patient has. Methods : This is a case report on a female patient who has been suffering from acne vulgaris which is not controlled by normal dermatological treatments. According to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions, Osuyu-tang was provided for fifty days. Results : After a series of Osuyu-tang treatments, the patient's symptoms and result of KAGS improved. Conclusions : This case study showed an effectiveness of using Osuyu-tang according to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions on acne.

여드름을 중심으로 한 피부질환 환자의 삶의 질 (The Quality of Life of Skin Disease Patients, Particularly Acne Patients)

  • Background : Quality of life(Qol) is a broad concept that incorporates all aspects of an individual's existence. There is many study about Qol of the patient with dermatic disease in the west, but in korea there is few study, particularly for oriental medical academic world. Objective : The purpose of this study is to Investigate the influence of dermatic disease, particularly acne on the Qol by using the korean version of skindex-29. Method : We measured the Qol of Kyungwon university student participating in Dongseo health examination by using the Korean version of Skindex-29. A total of 535 students were enrolled In this study. Results are reported as 3 scales scores (functions, emotions, and symptoms) and a composite score (average scale score). Result : 1) There were no statistically significant gender-related differences in Qol scores in patient group with acne. 2) There were no significant correlation between Age Duration and Qol socres in patient group with acne. 3) Acne group marked higher Qol scores than contact dermatitis and normal group (lower than Acne with atopic dermatitis group) within emotional scales. 4) Acne group marked higher Qol scores than scar, tinea cruris, and normal group (lower than Acne with atopic dermatitis group) within functional and total scales. 5) Acne group marked higher Qol scores than tinea cruris and normal group (lower than Atopic dermatitis group) within symptom scales. 6) In acne group that feel the necessity of medical treatment, group that be treated by occidental medical method marked lower Qol scores than group that don't be treated within functional, symptom, and total scales. 7) In acne group that don't be treated, group that feel the necessity of medical treatment marked higher Qol scores than group that don't feel within emotional, functional, and total scales. 8) Acne group that don't fee the necessity of medical treatment and be treated marked high scores than normal group within all scales. Conclusion : Acne is sometimes thought of as unimportant, but Acne significantly affects patient's Qol. Occidental medical treatment can help Acne patients to improve Qol. Even if someone who suffering from acne feel that he don't need to be treated, he had lower Qol than healthy controls. And we can expect that proper occidental medical treatment help him. But few study have discuss whether oriental medical method can improve Qol of acne patients. From now on we expect interesting study that measure effect of oriental medical therapy on Qol of Acne patients and compare with occidental medical therapy by using Qol mesure instrument.

백인 여성 여드름 환자의 한방치험 1례 (A Clinical report on Acne with Bad Smell Treated By Acupuncture, Cupping and Herbs)

  • The perpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental demonstration treatment for Acne. Acne is an facial skin problems with depress, white head on the facial skin and bad smell. Objectives We experienced one case of Acne through acupuncture, cupping, herbal medication and herbal patch. 24 years old female patient suffered from acne with bad smell and depress. Method She was taken 23 times of acupuncture and cupping treatment, 30days of taking herb medicine and 7days for herbal patch(brand named Lee Myung Lae patch). Results After 23 times treatment her acne symtoms was improved. Conculusion Asian medical treatment could be safe and effective to American patient.

여드름 환자에서 분리된 pseudomonas aeruginosa 38에 대한 삼황사심탕(三黃瀉心湯)의 효과 (The Antimicrobial Activity of Samhwangsasimtang against pseudomonas aeruginosa 38 isolated from an acne patient)

  • Objective : I want to examine the antimicrobial activity of Samhwangsasimtang against pseudomonas aeruginosa 38 isolated from an acne patient. Method : Antimicrobial activity was assayed through the hot water extract from Samhwangsasimtang against pseudomonas aeruginosa 38 isolated from an acne patient. Result : The size of inhibition zone of Samhwangsasimtang extract was $12.6\;{\pm}\;0.04\;mm$. The optimal pH and temperature for the growth of isolated pseudomonas aeruginosa 38 were 6.0 and $37^{\circ}C$, respectively. The minimum inhibitory concentration of Samhwangsasimtang extract was $10\;{\pm}\;0.06\;{\mu\ell}$ and the antimicrobial activity of Samhwangsasimtang extract was not destroyed by the heat ($121^{\circ}C$ for 15 min) and not affected by pH. Conclusion : Reviewing this experimental result, it appeared that Samhwangsasimtang had efficacy against pseudomonas aeruginosa 38 isolated from an acne patient.

  • Objective: Case study on the improvement of acne through application of Ortho-Cellular Nutrition Therapy (OCNT) Method: Implementation of OCNT on a 25-year old Korean male due to severe acne symptoms Results: Symptoms such as skin rash and wounds as well as the overall skin conditions improved following the implementation of OCNT. Conclusion: Application of OCNT can be helpful in alleviation of symptoms in patients suffering from acne.

  • Objectives : Microneedle therapy and Subcision are commonly used for therapeutic modalities of acne scars in Korean medicine. Beevenom could promote the expression of various cytokines, enzymes and receptors related to increasing collagen content of connective tissues. Through this mechanism, we considered that Beevenom pharmacopuncture therapy is applicable to the treatment of acne scars. We investigated twenty-seven patients with acne scars treated by Microneedle therapy and Subcision combined with Beevenom pharmacopuncture therapy and evaluated the clinical effect.Methods : Twenty-seven patients with acne scars were treated by Microneedle therapy and Subcision combined with Beevenom pharmacopuncture therapy and evaluated the clinical effect. for twelve weeks. The severity of acne scars and treatment effect were evaluate by standardized photography, GASC, ECCA scale and patient`s satisfaction. And side effects was also checked.Results : After twelve weeks for treatment, there was an improvement in GASC, ECCA scale. 77.8% of patient replied excellent or good on patient satisfaction survey. One patient sufferied from pruritus, papules and comedones as side effect of treatment.Conclusion : It can be considered that Microneedle, Subcision, Beevenom pharmacopuncture combining therapy are effective method for treating acne scars.

청상방풍탕(淸上防風湯)으로 호전된 성인 여드름 환자 치험 1례 (A Case Report of Acne Vulgaris Patient Treated with Cheongsangbangpung-tang)

  • Purpose: This study aims to explain the effect of Chungsangbangpoong-Tang(as followed CBT) on an adulthoods' acne vulgaris. Methods: This is a case report on a female patient who has been suffering from acne vulgaris since she was 19 years old. To make her acne condition better, we designed to provide a specific combined treatment, mainly drinking CBT 2 or 3 times per a day with taking a herbal, acupuncture therapy and acupuncture once per every week through whole session. Results: After a series of we prescribed CBT treatments, we could find that CBT treatments are effective and available to ameliorate for her symptoms of acne vulgaris within its period. Conclusion: This clinical case study shows us that CBT might have not only a potentiality as a new acne treatment but also an effect as a new available prescription for adulthoods' acne. Hence more specific studies about CBT should be demanded in a treatment fields of adulthoods' acne vulgaris as soon as possible.
