The purpose of this study were to identify the importance of father’s roles on children. A survey was carried out on 458(227 boys and 231 girls) 6th-graders at randomly chosen 4 elementary schools in Kwangju. Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation and Pearson’s coefficient were checked and one-way ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple range test and multiple regression analysis were also carried out on the collected data. The results were as follows; 1. Evaluation of fathers’role performance depending on background variables ranged from 46.17 to 58.51 points(equivalent to 61.56∼78.01 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant difference were children’s sex, fathers’religion (whether they had one or not) fathers’education, monthly family income and decision-makers at home. The degrees of fathers’role performance were higher when the answerers were girls, when fathers had religions, when fathers educational level was higher, when the family income was higher, and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 2. Evaluation of children’s achievement motivation depending on background variables ranged from 77.17 to 84.34 points( equivalent to 68.90∼75.35 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant differences were children∼s sex and decision-makers at home. Children∼s achievement motivation were higher in the case of girls and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 3. When it comes to the children’s achievement motivation in relation to father’s role performance, 1)The overall aspect of fathers’ role performance caused significant differences in children’s achievement motivation. 2) The influence of fathers’role performance on children’s achievement motivation was highest in the investigation-faciliator role (${\beta}$=2.5) and then the economic role (${\beta}$=.14) and the valuetransmitter role (${\beta}$=.14). The explanative power of these variables was 22%.

The study aimed to elucidate how to design a learning environment on the premise of micro-learning (ML) and investigate its impact on website designing skills and achievement motivation among secondary school students. Adopting the experimental approach, data were collected through an achievement test, a product evaluation form, and a test to gauge motivation for achievement. The sample was divided into two experimental groups. Results revealed statistically significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the two groups that experienced ML, irrespective of the two modes of presenting the video in the pre-test and post-test, as for the test of websites design skills, product evaluation form, and achievement motivation test. Besides, there have been statistically significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the first experimental group that had exposure to ML using the split-video presentation style and the scores of the second experimental group that underwent ML using continuous video presentation style in the post cognitive test of website design and management skills in favor of the group that had segmented-video-presentation ML. Another salient finding is the nonexistence of significant differences at 0.05≥α between the mean scores of the first experimental group that underwent segmented-video-presentation ML and the grades of the second experimental group that received ML with continuous video presentation style in the post-application of the product scorecard of websites designing skills and the motivation test. In light of these salient findings, the study recommended using ML in teaching computer courses at different educational stages in Saudi Arabia, training computer and information technology teachers to harness ML in their teaching and using ML in designing courses at all levels of education.
The purpose of this study is to explore which performance verbs are used in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum and how to improve them. So, first, we analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum achievement standards by school level. In addition, it was analyzed whether there were differences in the performance verbs included in the mathematics curriculum in Korea and foreign countries. As a result of the analysis, both the frequency and the type of performance verbs included in the achievement standards of the Korean mathematics curriculum decreased as the school level increased. Also, performative verbs such as 'understand' and 'know' were excessively used. Similar tendencies were seen in foreign mathematics curricula, but the frequency and the type of performance verbs were higher than those in Korea, and various performance verbs were used. As a result of the study, it is suggested that performance verbs included in achievement standards need to be improved to improve middle and high school mathematics classes.

There are two methods in evaluation student s achievement. The two evaluation methods are absolute evaluation and relative evaluation. They have much advantages respectively, but also have some limitations such as being too stereotyped or causing overcompetition among learners. This paper suggests a new evaluation method which evaluates student s achievements by considering the score distribution and the frequency The proposed method classifies the scores into several clusters considering the goodness. This approach calculates the goodness by applying the RE(relaxation error), and grades the achievement scores based on the goodness. The suggested method can avoid the problem of grading caused by the narrow gap of scores because it sets a standard for grading by the calculated goodness considering the score distribution and frequency of occurrence. The method can differentiate achievements of a school from those of others, and that it is useful for selecting advanced students and dull ones, and for evaluation of classes based on student s achievement.
This research purports to analyze released items and G4 students' science achievement from TIMSS 2011 according to their academic achievement levels and gender. By doing so, it aims to draw educational implications for Korea from analyses results. Korea showed a lower rate of students at the advanced international benchmark - the highest achievement level - compared to Singapore. The difference was the smallest in Life Science among three content domains and knowing among three cognitive domains. The results of analysis according to gender showed that male students' achievement was significantly higher in Physical Science and Earth Science, and their achievement was also higher in the cognitive domains of Knowing and Applying. From the analysis of the released items, it was revealed that the students' achievement was low in items related to classification of organisms, functions of heart, matters that combust or emit light, and the concept of rotation. Moreover, students drew some illogical conclusions based on their personal experience. Male students were found to show high achievements in items that were not included in curriculum, constructed-response items in the form of short-answer questions, and multiple-choice items in the Knowing domain. Female students were found to show high achievement in items that were included in curriculum, constructed-response items that require reasons and methods, and items that represent experimental situations. Male students showed high achievement in forces concept and movements concept of bodies in the universe, while female students showed high achievement in solubility concept.
A characteristic of the national mathematics curriculum revised in 2007 is to repeal the level-oriented individualized curriculum and choose substance of individualized teaching and learning based on the student's achievement level and quality. To do this we first have to think through how to compare students' achievement and differentiate classes. In this paper, we introduce the (modified) Angoff method as a method for comparing students' achievement and the concept of representative items for each achievement level in the National Assessment of Educational Achievement of Mathematics, and discuss how to use them in individualized teaching and learning, especially comparing students' achievement.

The purpose of this study is to provide a brief overview of the helicopter pilot training system applied to the Army, and to examine what factors positively affect the successful flight training of helicopter pilots. For this purpose, we analyzed the correlations between various factors such as individual characteristics, selection factors, flight aptitude evaluation, theoretical subjects test, and self-life evaluation. As a result, it was found that only the flight experience was influential on the individual characteristics at the beginning of the training course, and the learning achievement represented by the test of theoretical subjects was positively influenced throughout the flight training course. This reaffirms the fact that an individual's high level of motivation or effort influences his flight training performance. These results are expected to be useful indicators for future development of pilot selection system and pilot training system.

In order to help elementary students understand the astronomical unit in depth, this study applied backward design 2.0 to check the effect on students' science academic achievement, performance evaluation, and science class satisfaction. As a result of the study, there was no statistically significant difference in the science achievement test, but the average score of the experimental group has improved. As a result of the performance evaluation test, there was a statistically significant difference because the feedback was well provided through the process-focused assessment and it helped in-depth understanding. As a result of the science class satisfaction test, there was a statistically significant difference in the areas of science curriculum and peer relation except for the science teacher area. This is because a differentiated science curriculum was designed through analysis of achievement standards, and various teaching methods of student-centered were implemented to reach achievement standards. We hope this study will focus on the impact of backward design 2.0 on learners in elementary science classes and help find ways to effectively apply backward design 2.0 in the field.
This study investigated the relationships among middle school students' perceptions on the roles of online tutor, their deep learning, achievement, and overall evaluation of learning experiences in the context of inquiry based online gifted mathematics and science learning. For this purpose, 249 middle school students who took online course were surveyed about their perceptions on the degree to which their tutor performed the roles as an online tutor. The students were also asked about the activities which indicate deep learning approaches and overall course experiences such as the level of satisfaction, understanding and engagement in the course. The regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationships of students' perceptions on the roles of online tutor, deep learning, achievement, and overall course experiences. The results first showed that the roles of online tutor which affects students' deep learning approach such as high-order learning, integrative learning, reflective learning were the role as a subject matter and evaluation expert. Among the sub variables of deep learning approach the variable that was related to students' overall achievement was the use of high-order learning strategy. Second, the achievement in inquiry task was related to the role of tutor as a guide of learning process and method. Third, students' overall course evaluations such as the level of satisfaction, understanding and engagement were not related to any role of tutor.
