Recently, the LCD manufacturing industries try to maximize the productivity of LCD panels due to sharp increase in the market need of LCD display. Usually, the increase in manufacturing speed induces additional vibration of glasses and manufacturing machineries. This kind of vibration can induce bad effects on the manufacturing accuracy, and even can damage the glasses. The vibration signal of glass itself is very useful to predict the allowable maximum level of manufacturing speed. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the vibration of the glass itself and a very thin vibration measurement system attachable on the glass is needed. Since in some processes the glasses need to go through very thin gaps such as 2.5mm, We develop a glass vibration measurement system with the thickness of 1.3mm. The system measures the glass vibration using MEMS type accelerometers and store vibration data in a Nand-Flash memory. The performance of the develop system has been verified on a real LCD manufacturing line and the accuracy of vibration measurement is comparable with that of an accurate commercial vibration measurement system.
As the walking exercise is emphasized in personalized healthcare, numerous services demand walking information. Along with the propagation of smartphones nowadays, many step-counter applications have been released. But these applications are error-prone to abnormal movements such as simple shaking or vibrations; also, different step counts are shown when the phone is positioned in different locations of the body. In this paper, the proposed method accurately counts the steps regardless of the smartphone position by using an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. A threshold is set on each of the six positions to minimize the error of undetection and over-detection, and the cut-off section is set to eliminate any noise. The test results show that the six position type were successfully identified, and through a comparison experiment with the existing application, the proposed technique was verified as superior in terms of accuracy.

This paper proposes a method that automatically sets profile schedule context-based mobile phone by collecting the user's external situation based on the GPS sensor and accelerometer built into the smartphone and interacting with the data in the user's schedule to minimize the user's handset handling. However, real-time data collection in mobile phones causes energy shortage in the device due to battery consumption. In other words, a service control method is explained in a way that can efficiently handle resource consumption because accessing a measurement device such as GPS and other sensors may increase power consumption of the portable device. Therefore, effective data sharing for context awareness to reduce weekly schedules and smartphone mode has improved energy efficiency in sensing for data collection. The user can use the context more effectively by providing environmental adaptability for various situations such as the end user's local context and smartphone force control.
With development of wearable devices, there is an increased interest in bio-signal monitoring techniques that can measure the user's health condition. However, embedding several bio-signal sensors in one wearable device has some inherent problems in terms of limited resources such as its size. Furthermore, such problem also arise when new bio-signal sensors are added. In this paper, we introduced the Bio-Cradle, which is a Plug-in module that can transfer the biological signals in real time from the accelerometer, ECG, or PPG sensor to other wearable devices at the request from the user of wearable devices. When the Bio-Cradle plugged in to the other device, it can transfer several synchronized bio-signals regardless of the type of device.

Third party damage is one of the causes intrimiting the safety of a buried pipelines and it is very important to detect third party damage on pipelines as soon as possible. The purpose of this study is whether third-party damage can be detected by accelerometer sensor and how far the third-party damage signal can propagate. And a pilot experiment was carried out in order to find third-party damage location. As a result, the detected signal's spectum is high frequency at short distances, as the distance is far, the signals in high frequency range are attenuated and those in low frequency range remain. It was also proved that third-party damage within 5.3km distance can be detected by monitoring vibration signals.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) have gained experience with Helicopter Vibration Health Monitoring (VHM) System technology with the help of UK GKN-WHL. GKN-WHL have had many years of experience with the research and development of vibration analysis techniques to improve the health monitoring of helicopter transmissions. This activity was targeted at transmission rig testing at first, but the techniques have been progressively developed where they are now used as a part of integrated Health and Usage Monitoring (HUM) systems on many types of in-service and new helicopters. The technique development process has been considerably aided by an ever expanding database of transmission monitoring experience from both the rig testing and aircraft operations. This experience covers a wide range of failure types from naturally occurring faults to crack propagation studies and covering a wide range of transmission configurations. Primarily based on accelerometer signals GKN-WHL's vibration analysis methods have also been applied to a variety of other sensor types. The transition from an experimental environment to operational VHM systems has been a lengthy process, there being a need to demonstrate technique reliability as well as effectiveness to both regulatory (Airworthiness Authority) and commercial organizations. Another important feature of this process has been the development of close relationships with a number of VHM system hardware and software suppliers. Such an experienced GKN-WHL provides various raw vibration data which was acquired from transmission ground test rig and allow KARI to develop it's own analysis program. KARI made a program and then analyzed the data to coma pre with the results of GKN-WHL. The KARI's results both time domain signals and statistical values show comparable to GKN's.

Air shipment affords the quickest possible delivery of horticultural products. The price of air shipped horticultural products are relatively high as most of these products are perishable. Usually the temperature in the cargo compartment is not controlled during flight. Thus, special attention should be paid to procooling prior to shipment. The environmental condition during transportation of horticultural products is an essential parameter for maintaining the quality of perishable products. Commonly horticultural products were loaded by ULD(Unit Load Devices) as a container or pallet in the aircraft (except for small aircraft) . Therefore, inside temperature of the container and cargo compartment came into question. Scarce literature on the relationship between environmental condition and quality changes of horticultural products during air shipment can be found. By the stand point of keeping fresh quality, investigations on the actual condition of air shipments were carried out to improve the technique during the distribution process of fresh horticultural products. Temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, carbon dioxide, ethylene, impacts, and changes in quality during the air shipment of snapbeans, okras and chrysanthemums were measured. Temperature was measured by recording thermometers, relative humidity by recording hygrometers, atmospheric pressure by a strain -guage type pressure sensor, carbon dioxide by testing tubes, ethylene by sampling bags and a gaschromatograph, impacts and vibrations by impact recorders and a 3D accelerometer. Relationships between environmental conditions and quality changes during air shipments were clarified. It was expected from investigations into actual shipments that the ventilation and insulation properties of air freight containers were related to the quality of agricultural products. Aircraft can no directly load and unload trucks into them. The transshipment is inclined to cause shocks and vibrations, and to invite damages within a short time.

In order to apply a biped robot in real world, the robot requires a robust walking and a function of localization, path planning and navigation. Recently, localization and path planning using RFID of mobile robot has been studying. However, when the biped robot walks, it has unstability and tends to leave the path. In the paper we propose a method of walking stabilization using FSR(Force Sensing Resistor), Gyro and accelerometer for the real biped robot. Also a path tracking algorithm using RFID sensor attached in robot's foot is proposed based on localization of the robot. The proposed algorithm is verified from walking experiments using real biped robot on uneven terrain and path tracking experiments on the RFID environments.

Car running data collected from the vehicle is a native image data and sensing data of it. Hence, it can be used as a set of objective data based on which events that took place outside the car can be analyzed and determined. In this paper, we designed and implemented a emergency situation detection system to sense, store, and analyze signals related to car movements, driver's various operation states, collision pulse, etc when a car collision accident occurs on the actual road by sensing and analyzing the car movements and driver's operation status. The suggested system provides information on the driver's reaction right before the collision, operation state of the vehicle, and physical movement. The collected and analyzed data on vehicle running can be utilized to clarify the cause of a collision accident and to handle it in a just manner. Besides, it can contribute to grasping and correcting wrong driving habits of the driver and to saving.

In case of massive water leakage, it's crucial for field manager to quickly positioning the problematic valve and related ones. However, it's not easy for the system to find the corresponding valve and even if it's found, it can not respond quickly because it can't know the relevant information immediately. In this paper, we implement the system for identifying sluice valve positions using GPS and AR techniques. The proposed system is composed of hand held android device, remote database server and data acquisition device for DB creation. We utilize the android device's sensors including GPS, gyro, accelerometer, magnetic sensor. The system identifies the valve with matching between the position data from the remote database server, and current GPS locations of device. We use AR techniques to overlay the graphics pattern of valve positions and some additional informations on captured real scene. With this system, it will be fast and accurate for maintenance of sluice valve of municipal water system.
