  • Inverter module, which feeds the converted power to the traction motor for EMU. Consists of the power semiconductors with their gate drive unit(GDU)s and the control computer for driving, voltage, current and speed controls. Electrolytic condenser, connected to the gate drive unit and a core component to drive the power semiconductor, has problems such as reduction in lifetime and malfunction caused by electrical and mechanical characteristic changes from heat generation during high speed switching for generation of stable power. In this study, To check the service life of electrolytic condenser, the test was carried out in two ways. First, In the case of accelerated life testing of condenser, the Arrhenius model is a way of life testing. Another way is to analyze the reliability of the failure data by the method of parametric data analysis. Eventually, life time by accelerated life test than a method of failure data analysis(Weibull distribution) was found to be slightly larger output.

  • An ALT(accelerated life testing) method is to test a product in over-stressed conditions, and then the test result is extrapolated to an usual (normal stressed) condition. It is the major disadvantage of ALT method that the more extrapolation to an usual condition applies the bigger error is indispensable. Therefore a reliability model combining field failure data and laboratory test data is required in pratice. We propose several methods of estimating the failure rate of a product life which is assumed to follow an exponential distribution. Structural similarity and technological advances are also cosidered. Finally, We derive the acceleratio factor which can be used to predict the failure rate for a new product.

  • Accelerated degradation test (ADT) can be a useful tool for assessing the reliability when few or even no failure are expected in an accelerated life test. In this paper, MLCC (Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors), a sort of passive components which have large capacitance(X7R -55$^{\circ}C$~1$25^{\circ}C$) have been tested, and least-square analyses are used to illustrate our approach in which amount of degradation of a DUT following log-normal distribution. We assumed a simple and useful linear model to describe the amount of degradation over time subjected to different voltage levels applied. Tests for linearity of the performance-time relationship, and provide tests for how well the assumptions hold. Also, by using Eyring Model, MLCC's mean life time is assessed.

  • This paper presents optimum simple step-stress accelerated life test plans for the case where the test process is observed periodically at intervals of the same length. Two types of failure data, periodically observed complete data and periodically observed censored data, are considered. An exponential life distribution with a mean that is a log-linear function of stress, and a cumulative exposure model for the effect of changing stress are assumed. For each type of data, the optimum test plan which minimizes the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimator of the mean life at a design stress is obtained and its behaviors are studied.

  • In this paper, Weibull distribution is applied to the lifetme distribution of a device. The method of Bayesian estimate used to estimate requiring parameter in order to predict lifetime of device using accelerated lifetime test data, namely failure time of device. The method of Bayesian estimate needs prior information in order to estimate parameter. But this paper proposed the method of parameter estimate without prior information. As stress is temperature, Arrhenius model is applied and the method of linear estimate is applied to predict lifetime of device at the state of normal operation.

  • Accelerated life tests (ALTs) are frequently used in manufacturing industries to evaluate the reliability of products within a reasonable amount of time and cost. Test units are subjected to elevated stresses which yield quick failures. Most of the previous works on designing ALT plans are focused on tests that involve a single stress. Many times more than one stress factor influence the product's functioning. This paper deals with the design of optimum modified ramp-stress ALT plan for Burr type XII distribution with Type-I censoring under two stress factors, viz., voltage and switching rate each at two levels- low and high. It is assumed that usage time to failure is power law function of switching rate, and voltage increases linearly with time according to modified ramp-stress scheme. The cumulative exposure model is used to incorporate the effect of changing stresses. The optimum plan is devised using D-optimality criterion wherein the ${\log}_{10}$ of the determinant of Fisher information matrix is maximized. The method developed has been explained using a numerical example and sensitivity carried out.

  • In order to estimate the life of 2,5 inch HDD which is adopted by PC environment, make the test plan which reflect the failure mode of market, make the test model of accelerated life test which reflect the stress of temperature. after an analysis of the environment of PC using, test procedure was decided that operation was write 50 % and read 50 %, and then access method was sequential 50 % and random 50%. The acceleration life test was executed on condition that temperature was $50^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, performance was 95 % in max performance, test time was 1000 hours. by the test of goodness of fit of anderson-darling of the failure data during test, it was confirmed that the distribution of failure fellow weibull. test for shape and scale was equal, and shape parameter was 0.7177, characteristic life was 429434 hours at normal user condition($30^{\circ}C$) by the analysis of weibull-arrhenius modeling. It made no difference about the statistics when equality test was executed. The activation energy was 0.2775eV. In analyzing between the failure samples of acceleration test and the samples of market return even though there is detail difference about the share of failure mode, the rank of share was almost same. This study suggest the test procedure of acceleration test of 2.5 inch HDD in PC using environment, and help the life estimation at manufacture and user.

  • This paper deals with an economic design of acelerated life test under constant stresses where failure times are exponentially distributed. In this case the optimization criterion is the information amount per unit cost. Fisher's information matrix of exponential distribution's parameters and expected cost considering fixed and variable costs are obtained. The decision variable is the censoring time in the model. In the 2-level constant stress case, it is proved that the optimal solution exists and is unique under some condition. Numerical examples are also included.

  • Wall thinning defect due to flow accelerated corrosion is one of major aging phenomena in most power plant industries, and it results in reducing load carrying capacity of the piping systems. A failure testing system was set up for real scale elbows containing various simulated wall thinning defects, and monotonic in-plane bending tests were performed under internal pressure to find out the failure behavior of thinned elbows. Various finite element models were generated and analysed to figure out and simulate the behavior for other thinning shapes and loading conditions. This paper presents the decreasing trends of load carrying capacity according to the thinning dimensions which were revealed from the investigation of finite element analysis results. A mechanical integrity evaluation model for thinned elbows was proposed, also. This model can be used to calculate the TES plastic load of thinned elbows for general internal pressure, thinning location, and in-plane bending direction.
