  • This study explored, through informal, conversation-type interviews, how college students relate to science in general as well as to two specific socioscientific issues: human cloning and animal dissection/experimentation. How students "relate" includes what kinds of attitudes they have toward science and socioscientific issues, how seriously they consider and want to engage with these issues, and how they express their opinions or make a decision. The sample (16 college students) was heterogeneous in terms of academic background, ethnicity, and school year. Each interview lasted for about one hour with audiotaping. Results indicated that most participants immediately brought in their own values and feelings in implicit or explicit ways. However, the depth of their personal engagements varied. Most of the participants either did not take socioscientific issues seriously or merely quoted their own values in resignation, seemingly not able to deal with the issues and overwhelmed by many other aspects of the issues. By reflecting on the participants' reactions, the discussion addresses some of the larger issues for current secondary science teaching that involve raising responsible democratic citizens.

There was a significant difference in ethics of death according to career length (F=3.779, p= .011). Statistically significant differences were shown in ethics for right to life according to the ethical values (F=4.421, p= .005) and attendance of a conference for biomedical ethics (F=4.133, p= .018). The difference of the perception of biomedical ethics was significant in ethical values (F=3.859, p= .010) and attendance of a conference for biomedical ethics (F=3.783, p= .025). • It is significant that students understand why they have to learn mathematics, because such understanding has a powerful impact not only on affective but also on cognitive aspects in mathematics education. However, studies on in what ways students perceive the purpose of mathematics education are not sufficient. Given this background, this study examined 6th grade students' conception on the intention of learning mathematics by survey and Interview in order to raise subtle but important issues to improve mathematics education. Elementary students showed that they didn't perceive the multiple purposes of mathematics education. Their conceptions were focused on practicality, academic values and the preparation for the future of mathematics. Lower achievers had a tendency to relatively more negative responses to the purposes of mathematics education. This study underlines the importance of the purpose of studying mathematics on the part of students.

  • With Seopa Ryu-Hee's Chunqiugwalyebulyu as the main research subject. this paper is to clarify characteristics in classification of the book's introductory remarks and its academic values. This book is a sort of synthetic collection of introductory remarks classification that defines standardized introductory remarks based on fundamental principles of Chunqiu introductory remarks. Seopa presented two fundamental principles for classifying Chunqiu introductory remarks. First, he clearly defined the nature and the system of the book Chunqiu, which was to present the background of classifying Chunqiu introductory remarks. Second, he declared that writing style and righteousness in Chunqiu serves as standard for classifying the introductory remarks. Seopa classified introductory remarks by type in accordance with these fundamental principles of introductory remarks in order to lay the groundwork for right interpretation of Chunqiu. Further, he was convinced that this classification of introductory remarks would block any chance of the book's wrong interpretation and at the same time, be able to remove the rationale behind distorted theories. This book can be appraised to have significant academic values in that it attempted standardization in classifying Chunqiu introductory remarks through systematic and synthetic analysis on various introductory remarks.

We focused on consumer innovation, price sensitivity, conformity, and consumer values as factors that might influence such attitudes and intentions. A survey was conducted with 228 individuals aged 18 years and older who are aware of or have had experience using crowdfunding. Respondents were asked to answer questions based on the example of actual fashion crowdfunding projects. To analyze the data, reliability tests, the generation of descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and multiple regression were performed using SPSS 25.0. The results revealed that consumer innovativeness, non-conforming tendency, and emotional, quality, social, and ethnical consumer values had a significant influence on attitudes, which in turn affected intentions to participate in crowdfunding. Consumer innovativeness, price sensitivity, emotional value, and social value also had a direct influence on intentions to participate. In addition to its academic contribution, this study has important marketing implications for project initiators striving to identify and understand consumers who are willing to participate in reward-based crowdfunding for fashion products.
