Equine motor neuron disease (EMND) is a spontaneous neurologic disorder of horses, which results from the degeneration of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brain stem. An 8-year-old Jeju pony gelding presented with weight loss, muscle tremors, frequent recumbence, low head carriage, sweating, and standing with four limbs close together. The gelding has been on the same stable and limited access to pasture for several years. The gelding has been fed with dried hays and commercial concentrated feeds. Laboratory test revealed very low serum vitamin E level (0.14 ${\mu}g/mL$; reference range > 1.5 ${\mu}g/mL$), mildly elevated creatine kinase (402 IU/L; reference range 119-287 IU/L) and aspartate aminotransferase (876 IU/L; reference range 226-336 IU/L). Oral glucose absorption test showed decreased glucose absorption. Histopathologic examination using a biopsy specimen from sacrocaudalis dorsalis medialis muscle revealed atrophic and hypertrophic muscle fiber, centralization of nucleus, degenerating and necrotic muscle fibers. Taken together, the gelding was diagnosed as EMND. After oral vitamin E administrated for 5 weeks, the gelding showed normally improved stance, decreased periods of recumbency, improved head carriage and weight gain except consistent tremors. This is the first report that successfully treated EMND case occurred in a Jeju pony in Korea.

In this study, the properties of no-fines polymer concrete with different polymer binder contents were evaluated. The polymer concrete was formulated using a polymeric binder (unsaturated polyester resin), fly ash, and recycled coarse aggregate (60%) and crushed coarse aggregate (40%). The polymeric binder content (4.0-6.0wt.%) was used as an experimental variable because it dramatically affects both the cost-effectiveness and material properties. The results showed that the density, compressive strength, flexural strength both before and after exposure to freezing and thawing increased as the polymer binder content increased, while the absorption, void ratio, permeable voids, coefficient of permeability, and acid resistance (mass loss by acid attack) decreased as the polymeric binder content increased. In particular, even though the void ratio was 18.4% and the water permeability coefficient was 7.3mm/sec, the compressive strength and flexural strength were as high as 38.0MPa and 10.0MPa, respectively, much more significant than those of previous studies. Other properties such as absorption and acid resistance were also found to be excellent. The results appear to be rooted in the increased adhesion of the binder by adding a cross-linking agent and the surface hydrophobicity of the polymer.

In this study, a triple-band antenna that can be used in WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) at 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and 5G at 3.5 GHz is fabricated. The proposed antenna uses a parasitic element to show the triple band, and the reflector is used at a distance of ${\lambda}/4$ from the antenna to reduce the Specific Absorption Rate(SAR). Its dimensions are $100{\times}75{\times}1.6mm^3$ and each parameter value is optimized for better performance and a lower SAR value. As a result, we obtained a bandwidth of 540 MHz(2.02~2.56 GHz), 390 MHz(3.39~3.78 GHz), and 1,210 MHz(5.56~6.77 GHz) based on the reflection loss factor of -10 dB. In addition, the SAR values of the antenna with reflector are observed to reduce below the SAR value of international standard.
The pertinent Korean Industrial Standard (KS F) requires that rocks dried at 105 ± 5℃ be taken out of the oven into air and weighed on a scale. However, when rocks are exposed to air after the drying process, they absorb moisture, meaning that their weight will increase. In this study, eight cubic samples of Hwangdeung granite of different sizes were used to measure and compare the dry weight. The dry singularity weight measured in air was smaller than that measured in the drying oven. The difference in dry weight showed a positive correlation with sample size. Conversely, the difference in dry weight per unit weight of rock showed a negative correlation with sample size. The weight of a rock sample exposed to air is determined by the magnitude of the influence of convection currents occurring around the heated rock and the influence of moisture absorption in air. A singularity occurs when the magnitudes of these two effects are equal. The larger the rock sample, the longer the time taken for the singularity to occur, the greater the weight loss of the sample, and the longer the time taken for the sample to return to the initially measured weight on account of the greater moisture absorption for larger samples than smaller samples. In the future, research into the singularity and dry weights measured inside the drying oven will help to identify and address the limitations of the current KS F testing regulations.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of ash contents of bread flour on the rheology of frozen dough In making frozen dough by measuring amylograph, flrinograph and extensograph. The quality of frozen-stored dough under freezing condition ($-20^{\circ}C$, 12 weeks) was evaluated by measuring final proof time, moisture content, baking loss, loaf volume and hardness of bread with storage time. In bread flour with high ash content farinogram showed that water absorption, degree of softening increased but valorimeter value decreased. In bread flour with low ash content amylogram showed that gelatinization temperature and maximum viscosity increased and extensogram showed that the area and resistance of the bread flour increased. As the proof time increased the extensibility decreased. Final proof time of frozen dough was shortened at the bread flour with low ash content with storage time. In bread using the flour with high ash content, moisture content, increased but baking loss rate decreased while the hardness of product increased slowly with time. But in bread using the flour with low ash content, the loaf volume of baking increased but the hardness of product decreased. As the frozen storage time was shortened, the product was more stable and better in quality.
Convective heat transfer is the main component of greenhouse energy loss because the energy loss by this mechanism is greater than those of the other two components (radiative and conductive). Previous studies have examined the convective heat transfer coefficients under natural conditions, but they are not applicable to symmetric thermal screens with zero porosity, and such screens are largely produced and used in Korea. However, the properties of these materials have not been reported in the literature, which causes selectivity issues for users. Therefore, in this study, three screens having similar color and zero porosity were selected, and a mathematical procedure based on radiation balance equations was developed to determine their convective heat transfer coefficients. To conduct the experiment, a hollow wooden structure was built and the thermal screen was tacked over this frame; the theoretical model was applied underneath and over the screen. Input parameters included three components: 1) solar and thermal fluxes; 2) temperature of the screen, black cloth, and ambient air; and 3) wind velocity. The convective heat transfer coefficients were determined as functions of the air-screen temperature difference under open-air environmental conditions. It was observed from the outcomes that the heat transfer coefficients decreased with the increase of the air-screen temperature difference provided that the wind velocity was nearly zero.

Wall and floor tiles were fabricated by a dry pressing method using waste glass and clay. The physical properties of the tiles such as absorption, bulk density, porosity, compressive strength, and abrasion loss are investigated with the firing temperature and glass contents. The physical properties are improved with increasing the firing temperature and glass contents. The composition containing the glass of $70 wt%$ and fired at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2 h has the good properties. The optimal properties obtained in the tiles are the water absorprion of about $0.9\%$, the bulk density of about $2.3\;g/cm^3$, the apparent porosity of about $2.1 \%$, the compressive strength of about 210 MPa, and the abrasion loss of about 0.022 g, when the composition containing the glass of $70\;wt\%$ is fired at $1050^{\circ}C$. The physical proper1ies of tiles fabricated were enhanced compared to the commercial clay tiles, due to easy melting and densification of glassy phase during the firing process.
In this study, the push-pull structure polymer for organic photo voHaics (OPVs) was synthesized and characterized. The poly{4,8-didodecyloxybenzo[1,2-b;3,4-b]dithiophene-alt-5,6-bis(octyloxy)-4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)benzo[c][1,2,5]-thiadiazole} (PDBDT-TBTD) was synthesized by Stille coupling reaction using the benzothiadiazole (BTD) derivative as an electron acceptor and benzodithiophene (BDT) derivative as an electron donor. The structure of monomers and polymers was identified by $^1H-NMR$ and GC-MS. The optical, physical and electrochemical properties of the conjugated polymer were identified by GPC, TGA, UV-Vis and cyclic voltammetry. The number average molecular weight ($M_n$) and initial decomposition temperature (5% weight loss temperature, $T_d$) of PDBDT-TBTD were 6200 and $323^{\circ}C$, respectively. The absorption maxima on the film was about 599 nm and the optical band gap was about 1.70 eV. The structure of device was ITO/PEDOT : PSS/PDBDT-TBTD : $PC_{71}BM/BaF_2/Ba/Al$. PDBDT-TBTD and $PC_{71}BM$ were blended with the weight ratio of 1:2 which were then used as an optical active layer. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of fabricated device was measured by solar simulator and the best PCE was 2.1%.
Basic properties of artificial lightweight aggregate by using waste dusts and strength properties of LWA concrete were studied. Bulk specific gravity and water absorption of artificial lightweight aggregates varied from 1.4 to 1.7 and 13 to 16%, respectively. Crushing ratio of artificial lightweight aggregate was above 10% higher than that of crushed stone or gravel. As a result of TCLP leaching test, the leaching amount of tested heavy metal element was below the leaching standard of hazardous material. Slump, compressive strength and stress-strain properties of LWA concrete made of artificial lightweight aggregate were tested. Concrete samples derived from LWA substitution ratio of 30 vol% and W/C ratio of 45 wt% showed the best properties overall. Thermal insulation and sound insulation characteristics of light weight concrete panel with the optimum concrete proportion were tested. Average overall heat transmission of 3.293W/㎡$^{\circ}C$ was observed. It was higher by about 15% than those of normal concrete made by crushed stone. Sound transmission loss of 50.9 ㏈ in frequency of 500 ㎐ was observed. It was higher by about 13% than standard transmission loss.

Various vehicles have been studied in order to protect skin ageing and sustain constantly moisturization. Recently, in relation to maintain of moisture, absorption and penetration of active materials, there has been introducing many preparing methods such as liposome, liquid crystal and multilamellar emulsion. We developed multilayer lamellar vesicle using cetearyl alcohol/ceteth-20 phosphate/dicetyl phosphate as analogy of phospholipid according to variation of shear rate and pH. These multilayer lamellar vesicles were confirmed by cross polarizing microscope. As results, morphologies of lamellar vesicle were not uniformed at low shear rate and pH. Also, stabilities for encapsulation of retinol were observed at $42^{\circ}C$ during two months. As a result, quantitative content of retinol decreased at low pH. Multilayer lamellar vesicle decreased 14% of transepidermal water loss compared with O/W emulsion. We compared multilayer lamellar sun cream to O/W sun cream using in vitro SPF test of water resistance and concluded that multilayer lamellar sun cream is similar to O/W sun cream in water resistance.
