  • A bilayer is used as an anode electrode for organic electroluminescent devices. The bilayer consist of an ultrathjn ZnO layer adjacent to an hole-transporting layer and an Indium tin oxide(ITO) outerlayer. We tried to bring low the barrier between the devices as deposited ZnO films on ITO substrates. We fabricated the organic EL structure consisted of Al as cathode, $Al_{2}O_{3}$ as electro transport layer, Alq3 as luminously layer, triphenyl diamine(TPD) as hole transport layer and ZnO(l nm )/ITO(l50 nm) as anode. The result of this experiment was not good compared with the case of using ITO, Nevertheless, at this structure we obtained the lowest turn-on voltage as the value of 19 V and the good brightness (6200 $cd/m^{2}$) of the emission light from the devices. Then the quantum efficiency was to be 1.0%.

  • A simple nonalkoxide sol-gel route for depositing an Al-doped ZnO thin film on a glass substrate was derived in this study. The initial Al dopant concentration in the sol-gel preparation varied and ranged from 0 to 5%. The sol-gel-derived thin films showed c-plane preferred crystallization of their hexagonal phase, with nanosized grain structures. First and second post-heat-treatments were carried out to improve the film’s electrical resistivity. The carrier density and the Hall mobility were measured and discussed to explain the electrical resistivity. The optical transmittance within the visible range showed compatible properties, which indicates the possible use of A1-doped ZnO as a transparent electrode in flat panel displays.

  • AZO(ZnO:Al) thin film were prepared by FTS(Facing Target Sputtering) system. Change the sputtering conditions, AZO thin film deposited the lower resistivity(<$10-4{\Omega}cm$) so it can use to be a display application electrode. In this study, the electrical and crystallographic effects of target type have been investigated. The crystal structure was studied by XRD and the resistivity of AZO thin film was obtained by the four-point probe.

  • A kinetic study on the electrodeposition of Ni-Zn-P ternary alloys onto a steel in chloride solutions was carried out using a rotating disc electrode. The coatings were characterized using SEM/EPMA and A. A. analysis. The results showed that the plating rates of three components were increased with applied potential, disc rotating speed and temperature. The activation energies of Ni, Zn and P of the coatings were 6.1, 5.1 and 8.0 kcal/mole respectively. Therefore, the deposition rates were controlled partly by surface electrochemical reaction and partly by mass transport. As the potential, temperature of bath and rotating speed of cathode disc were raised, the vol. % ratios of Ni and P of coating layer were increased but that of Zn decreased. The effect of coating parameters on the surface morphology was also examined.

  • The electrode reduction velocities of Zn, Ni and Co ions at DME in various supporting electrolytes and temperatures were measured by Randles' method. The values for Zn ions agreed with Randles' values within 20%. As mentioned in the auther's previous paper, the observed values of Ni and Co ions were considered to be reasonable. In the present work the curves log y vs. log z for the various metals in the range of 20~35$^{\circ}C$ were obtained.

  • In this study, oxide/metal/oxide-type transparent electrodes based on Al and ZnO were investigated. Thin films of these materials were sputter-deposited at room temperature. To evaluate the thickness dependence of the oxide layers, the top and bottom ZnO layers were varied in the range of 5~80 nm and 2.5~20 nm, respectively. When the thicknesses of the top and bottom ZnO layers were fixed at 30 nm and 2.5 nm, a maximum transmitance of 66% and sheet resistance of $16.5{\Omega}/{\square}$ were achieved, which is significantly improved compared with the Al layer without top and bottom ZnO layers showing a maximum transmitance of 44.3% and sheet resistance of $44{\Omega}/{\square}$.

  • We study on the optical and electrical properties of indium-free ZTO(ZnSnO)/Ag/ZTO (ZAZ) multilayer electrodes for the low-cost transparent electrode. In the first step, each single layer was deposited using rf magnetron in-line sputter with various working pressure based on $O_2$/$Ar+O_2$ ratio (0~3%) and power at room temperature. Secondly, we studied the optical and electrical properties by analyzing the refractive index, extinction coefficient, transmittance and resistivity of each layer. Finally, we optimized the thickness of each layer using macleod simulation program based on the analyzed optical properties and fabricated the multilayer electrode. As a result, We achieved a low sheet resistance of $11{\Omega}$/sq and anaverage transmittance of 80% in the visible region of light (380~780 nm). This indicates that indium-free ZAZ multilayer electrode is a promising low-cost and low-temperature processing electrode scheme.

  • Dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs) have been recognized as an alternative to the conventional p-n junction solar cells because of their simple fabrication process, low production cost, and transparency. A typical DSSC consists of a transparent conductive oxide (TCO) electrode, a dye-sensitized oxide semiconductor nanoparticle layer, liquid redox electrolyte, and a Pt-counter electrode. In dye-sensitized solar cells, charge recombination processes at interfaces between coducting glass, $TiO_2$, dye, and electrolyte play an important role in limiting the photon-to-electron conversion efficiency. A layer of ZTO thin film less than ~200nm in thickness, as a blocking layer, was deposited by DC magnetron sputtering method directly onto the anode electrode to be isolated from the electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cells(DSCs). This is to prevent the electrons from back-transferring from the electrode to the electrolyte ($I^-/I_3^-$). The presented DSCs were fabricated with working electrode of Ga-doped ZnO glass coated with blocking ZTO layer, dye-attached nanoporous $TiO_2$ layer, gel electrolyte and counter electrode of Pt-deposited GZO glass. The effects of blocking layer were studied with respect to impedance and conversion efficiency of the cells.
