Gateway Architecture for Ubiquitous Access to ZigBee-Based Sensor Networks (ZigBee 기반 센서 네트워크로의 유비쿼터스 접근을 위한 게이트웨이 아키텍처)

  • This paper investigates protocol architecture of a Web-ZigBee gateway for interconnecting TCP/IP-based networks and ZigBee/IEEE802.15.4-based wireless sensor networks. The Web-ZigBee gateway delivers data between the TCP/IP network and the ZigBee network. Since those two networks have different communication protocols, a protocol translation mechanism is needed. Herein, we propose a method to deliver query messages from the Internet to the sensor network and receive data from sensors. The protocol translation is performed in the translation layer that is placed above the two application layers, i.e., the Internet application layer and ZigBee application layer. Among various interfaces, we use CGI programming to take care of translation functions efficiently. The CGI manages query information from a client on the Internet and data from the ZigBee sensor network. Whereas the TCP/IP enabled sensor network overlays two heterogeneous communication protocols, overlaying layers increase the complexity and cost of implementing the sensor network. On the contrary, the sensors in our gateway-based system are not only light (because each communication protocol works independently without overlaying), but also efficient because the translation layer mostly alleviates header overloading.

  • In this paper, the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based on ZigBee technology was devised and developed. Wireless communication was applied to petrochemical domain, like other industries. And sensor network of IEEE 802.15.4 protocol stack diagram was described. Then, by analyzing the protocol, the software systems included the communication Protocol and point-to-point network were implemented with Freescale Semiconductor's product MC13192-SARD DSK board. After that, the performance of this design system was evaluated, and finally, by using PC Graphic User Interface (GUI) and IDE CW08 V3.1 programming tool, the real time communication data and the curve function were displayed.

  • This paper presents the performance of BALUN embedded in the LTCC substrate of ZigBee system which is one of the kind of wireless communication. The BALUN is used to make two signal which have 180$^{\circ}$ phase difference and 3dB power from one input signal. Therefore, this is 3-port network circuit. At the center frequency(915MHz), insertion losses were 3.1dB and 3.4dB, respectively. Also, the phase difference was 182$^{\circ}$. Its size is 2.1$\times$3.6mm. The Used materials were dupont9599 LTCC ceramic and daejuo086 Ag.

  • Polysomonography, a way of diagnosing patients for Sleep Apnea, measures several kinds of bio-signal simultaneously. So it makes patients' behavior restricted and the examination more expensive. In this paper, presents another way of examining patients' ECGs, which are transferred to a computer system through a new wireless communication, Zigbee. This way of using Zigbee has solved restrictions of places and time for Polysomonography; and thus it is possible to reduce the cost, as well as improving patients' liberty.

  • The goal of this study is to develop experiment monitoring system of agriculture fields using ZigBee wireless modules. Soil moisture, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure and intensity of sunlight are the most important factorsto grow a wheat crop and other vegetables. In orderto monitorthe factorssoil moisture (YL69), air pressure (BMP180), temperature (DS18B20), photoresistor were used for sensing environment data. The TI CC2530 RF SoC chip was used in the system. ZigBee modules were connected to star topology. ZigBee modules send data wirelessly to a data center. This data can be displayed and analyzed on the main monitoring program as needed also sent to the client mobile. Characteristics of the sensors were determined by experiment results.

  • ZigBee based on the most vulnerable part of u-Healthcare system that uses the ZigBee communication is the wireless section. ZigBee communication sectors to identify vulnerabilities in this paper, we propose to compensate. ZigBee has been raised from the existing vulnerabilities organize and ZigBee also uses the 64bit address that uniquely identifies a vulnerability that was defined as exposure. And to prevent the exposure of a unique identifying address was used to address a temporary identification. ZigBee security services, the proposed system during the Network Key for encryption only use one mechanism of Residential Mode is used. Residential Mode on all nodes of the entire network because they use a common key, the key is stolen, your network's security system at a time are at risk of collapse. Therefore, in order to guard against these risks to the security policy Network Key updated periodically depending on the method used to. The proposed evaluation and comparative analysis of the system were exposed in the existing system can hide the address that uniquely identifies a public key Network Key also updated periodically, so that leaks can occur due to reduced risk.

  • As the sensors and communication technology get advance, the remote health diagnosis for patients and senior persons at home are possible now without visiting doctors in hospitals. A low-power ubiquitous health check device was developed adapting Real-Time Embedded Linux is developed. This ubiquitous device is consisted of three sensors. The wrist type health checking terminal acquires periodically the health data by using a blood pressure sensor, a pulse sensor and a body temperature sensor. It transmits the health data to the access point located at the home center through the ZigBee wireless communication modem. This health data collector or access point device sends the data again to the main server operated in a hospital or health care organization. The health server control continuously the input data and sends an alarm signal to the assigned. doctor and responsible persons using cellular SMS when any dangerous events occur. This wrist type health check device has an embedded linux OS using Intel PAX255 MPU. The developed U-Health system is applicable for checking patients health in remote at home. And their family or related persons in remote site can check the patients health status at any time. They can be assured by receiving SMS record and alarm of emergency case which is transmitted from the health server.

  • In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is configured for the robot to effectively communicate with the environment platform where sensor nodes are implemented using high performance microcontrollers. The localization and the navigation functions are also required to the robot which performs the given task using various types of sensor information. A new type of ZigBee stack is developed using the RUM(Router Under MAC) of the Atmel Corp. and it is applied to a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller for the high performance sensor data manipulation and transmission. It is verified by experiments that the wireless sensor network consisting of developed high performance sensor nodes can be effectively used for the robot environment platform.

  • This paper describes the implementation of a ZigBee sensor node that can be utilized as a multiband and machine to machine (M2M) communication gateway. The IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard was used as the wireless network frequency band. Ember's Type EM357 SoC was used as the transmission and reception device to perform the communication function, and it was also used for both the main M2M gateway and the sensor node. For the implementation of the operating protocol, EmberZNet Stack 4.5.4 from the Ember Corporation was used. The measurement of the reception sensitivity in the receiving module and the actual output signal from the reference were obtained from the transmission of a packet, and the packet included the M2M gateway within the attached ZigBee sensor. The packet error rate was measured as 0% with a -98 dBm reception sensitivity at the ZigBee frequency. In addition, excellent current characteristics of the ZigBee modules were shown by the implementation of the low-power circuit.

  • Recently, To provide various service for user, there are some trends to construct health care system using bio-sensors and wireless network technologies. Accordingly, An effective middleware is needed to manage and control the various bio-sensors. Also, it is important to extend network and interoperate the various application system in healthcare service. In this paper, we propose to be connected with network based on UPnP by design and implementation of UPnP-ZigBee bridge. The proposed UPnP-ZigBee bridge manage and control ZigBee sensor module effectively. we implemented and tested ECG, PPG, and environment sensor module based on ZigBee wireless network to apply in health care service.
