The structrue of hydroxy-bisbenzoyloxy-allyloxycalix[4]arene (C45H36O6) has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21, unit cell constants a=11.045(3), b=33.545(2) c=10.319(4)Å, β=113.86(2)˚, Z=4, V=3496.0(1.8) Å3, DC=1.28 gcm-3. The intensity data were collected on an Enraf-Noninus CAD-4 Diffractometer with a graphite monochromated Mo-Kα radiation. The structure was solved by direct method and refined by full-matrix least-squares calculations to a final R value of 0.076 for 2945 observed reflections. Two independent enantiomeric molecules are crystallized in a 1:1 racemate mixture. They have the flattened cone conformation with the flattening hydroxy1 pheny1 rings. There is an intramolecular hydrogen bond in both molecules.

We report the synthesis of Ni-doped $BaFe_2Se_3$ single crystals by using a flux method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) of $Ba(Fe_{1-x}Ni_x)_2Se_3$ shows a gradual peak shift with an increase in the nominal Ni-doping rate, x = 0, 0.05, and 0.10, due to a decrease in unit-cell volume. All samples show a spin glass transition, and temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility shows a negligible change in the spin-glass transition temperature ($T_g$) with Ni concentration x. The temperature dependence of electrical resistivity for $BaFe_2Se_3$ shows an insulating behavior, and the resistivity value at 295 K and the activation energy ($E_a$) obtained from the Arrhenius plot decrease with increasing x. These results suggest that the Ni doping can be effectively worked as a dopant for electron charge carriers, but is less efficient in controlling the magnetic property, such as spin glass transition, in the $BaFe_2Se_3$ compound.
[ $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_4F:Eu_x^{3+}$ ](A = Ca, Sr, Ba, x = -0.15, z = 0, 0.1) oxyfluoride phosphors were simply prepared by the solid-state method at $1050^{\circ}C$ in air. The phosphors had the bright red photoluminescence (PL) spectra of an $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_4F$ for $Eu^{3+}$ activator. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the obtained red phosphors were exhibited for indexing peak positions and calculating unit-cell parameters. Dynamic excitation and emission spectra of $Eu^{3+}$ activated red oxyfluoride phosphors were clearly monitored. Red and blue shifts gradually occurred in the emission spectra of $Eu^{3+}$ activated $A_3AlO_4F$ oxyfluoride phosphors when $Sr^{2+}$ by $Ca^{2+}$ and $Ba^{2+}$ ions were substituted, respectively. The concentration quenching as a function of $Eu^{3+}$ contents in $A_{3-2x/3}AlO_4F:Eu^{3+}$ (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) was measured. The interesting behaviors of defect-induced $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_{4-{\alpha}}F_{1-{\delta}}$ phosphors with $Eu^{3+}$ activator are discussed based on PL spectra and CIE coordinates. Substituting $In^{3+}$ into the $Al^{3+}$ position in the $A_{3-2x/3}AlO_4F:Eu^{3+}$ oxyfluorides resulted in the relative intensity of the red emitted phosphors noticeably increasing by seven times.
New cathode materials $LaNi_{1-x}{Cu_x}{O_3}$ (typically $LaNi_{0.8}Cu_{0.2}O_3$) were synthesized using a co-precipitation method. The structure and morphology of the powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The composite material [$Ce_{0.8}Sm_{0.2}O_{2-\ddot{a}}$(SDC) and carbonate (${Na_2}{CO_3},{Li_2}{CO_3}$)], NiO and $LaNi_{1-x}{Cu_x}{O_3}$ were used as the electrolyte, anode and cathode, respectively. The electrochemical performance of La-Ni-Cu-O perovskite oxide at low temperatures ($400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$) was studied. The results showed that $LaNi_{0.8}Cu_{0.2}O_3$ precursor powder prepared through a co-precipitation method and calcined at $860^{\circ}C$ for 2 h formed uniform grains with diameters in the range of $400{\sim}500\;nm$. The maximum power density and the short circuit current density of the single cell unit at $550^{\circ}C$ were found to be $390\;mW/cm^2$ and $968\;mA/cm^2$, respectively.
Two crystal structures of dehydrated $Sr^{2+}\;and\;Tl^+$ exchanged zeolite A, $Sr_xTl_{12-2x}-A$ (x = 1.6 and 5.45), have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Their structures were solved and refined in the cubic space group Pm3m at $21(1)^{\circ}C.$ Both crystals were ion exchanged in flowing streams of mixed $Sr(NO_3)_2\;and\;TlNO_3$ aqueous solution, followed by dehydration at $360^{\circ}C\; and\; 2${\times}$10^{-6}$ Torr for 2 days. Full-matrix least-squares refinements of the dehydrated $Sr_{1.6}Tl_{8.8}-A (a = 12.214(2){\AA})\; and\;Sr_{5.45}Tl{1.1}-A (a=12.291(2){\AA})$ have converged to final error indices, $R_1=0.055\; and\;R_2=0.061$ with 286 reflections, and R1 = 0.072 and R2 = 0.090 with 217 reflections, respectively, for which$\;I\;{>}\;3{\sigma}(I)$. In both structures, all Sr(II) ions are coordinated by three framework oxygens; Sr(II) to O(3) distances are $2.21(2){\AA}\;for\;Sr_{1.6}Tl_{8.8}-A \;and\;2.31(1){\AA} \;for\;Sr_{5.45}Tl_{1.1}-A,$and Tl(I) to O(3) distances are $2.657(6){\AA}\;for\;Sr_{1.6}Tl_{8.8}-A\;and\;2.845(8){\AA}\;for\;Sr_{5.45}Tl_{1.1}-A,$ respectively. In each structure, the angle subtended at Sr(II), O(3)-Sr(II)-O(3) is $118.7(4)^{\circ}\;for\; Sr_{1.6}Tl_{8.8}-A \;and\;120.0(4)^{\circ}\;for\;Sr_{5.45}Tl_{1.1}-A.\;Sr^{2+}$ ions prefer to 6-ring sites and $Tl^+$ ions to 8-ring sites when total number of ions per unit cell is more than 8.

Spo0F is a response regulator that modulates sporulation, undergoes phosphorylation for phosphorelay signal transduction, and interacts with various regulatory proteins; however, the mechanisms through which phosphorylation induces structural changes and regulates interactions with binding partners remain unclear. Here, we determined the unphosphorylated crystal structure of Spo0F from the psychrophilic bacterium Paenisporosarcina sp. TG-14 (PaSpo0F) and established a phosphorylation-state structural model. We found that PaSpo0F underwent structural changes (Lys54 and Lys102) by phosphorylation and generated new interactions (Lys102/Gln10 and Lys54/Glu84) to stabilize the ${\beta}4/{\alpha}4$ and ${\beta}1/{\alpha}1$ loop structures, which are important target-protein binding sites. Analysis of Bacillus subtilis Spo0 variants revealed movement by BsSpo0F Thr82 and Tyr84 residues following interaction with BsSpo0B, providing insight into the movement of corresponding residues in PaSpo0F (Thr80 and Tyr82), with further analysis of BsSpo0F/BsRapH interaction revealing alterations in the ${\beta}4/{\alpha}4$ loop region. These results suggest that phosphorylation-induced structural rearrangement might be essential for PaSpo0F activation and expand the understanding of Spo0F-specific activation mechanisms during sporulation.
The crystal structure of partially $Ag^+$-exchanged zeolite A, $Ag_{3.2}Na_{8.8}$-A, vacuum dehydrated at $360^{\circ}C$ and then exposed to 0.1 torr of cesium vapor for 12 hours at $250^{\circ}C$ has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group Pm3m (a = 12.262(2)${\AA})\;at\;21(1)^{\circ}C$. The structure was refined to the final error indexes $R_1=0.068\;and\;R_2=0.072$ by using 338 reflections for which $I_o\;>\;3{\sigma}(I_o)$ and the composition of unit cell is $Ag_{3.2}Cs_{8.8}-A.\;3\;Cs^+$ ions lie on the centers of the 8-rings at sites of D4h symmetry. Two crystallographycally different 6-ring $Cs^+$ ions were found: 1.5 $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(2) are located inside of sodalite cavity and 4.3 $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(3) are located in the large cavity. The fractional occupancies observed at Cs(2) and Cs(3) indicate that the existence of at least three types of unit cells with regard to the 6-ring $Cs^+$ ions. For example, 50% of unit cells may have two $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(2) and 4 $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(3). 30% of unit cells may have one Cs+ ion at Cs(2) and 5 $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(3). The remaining 20% would have one $Cs^+$ ion at Cs(2) and 4 $Cs^+$ ions at Cs(3). On threefold axes of the unit cell two non-equivalent Ag atom positions are found in the large cavity, each containing 0.64 and 1.92 Ag atoms, respectively. A crystallographic analysis may be interpreted to indicate that 0.64 $(Ag_5)^+$ clusters are present in each large cavity. This cluster may be viewed as a tetrasilver molecule $(Ag_4)^0$(bond length, 2.84${\AA}$) stabilized by the coordination of one $Ag^+$ ion.
Synthesis of ZnCo2O3 oxide is performed by sol-gel method via nitrate-citrate route. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) study shows monoclinic unit cell having lattice parameters: a = 5.721(1) Å, b = 8.073(2) Å, c = 5.670(1) Å, β = 93.221(8)°, space group P2/m and Z = 4. Average crystallite sizes determined by Scherrer equation are the range ~14-32 nm, whereas SEM micrographs show nano-micro meter size particles formed in ZnCo2O3. Endothermic peak at ~798 K in the Differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) trace without weight loss could be due to structural transformation and the endothermic peak ~1143 K with weight loss is due to reversible loss of O2 in air atmosphere. Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis profile shows the presence of elements Zn, Co and O which indicates the purity of the sample. Magnetic measurements in the range of +12 kOe to -12 kOe at 10 K, 77 K, 120 K and at 300 K by PPMS-II Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) shows hysteresis loops having very low values of the coercivity and retentivity which indicates the weakly ferromagnetic nature of the oxide. Observed X-band EPR isotropic lineshapes at 300 K and 77 K show positive g-shift at giso ~2.230 and giso ~2.217, respectively which is in agreement with the presence of paramagnetic site Co2+(3d7) in the oxide. DC conductivity value of 2.875 ×10-8 S/cm indicates very weakly semiconducting nature of ZnCo2O3 at 300 K. DRS absorption bands ~357 nm, ~572 nm, ~619 nm and ~654 nm are due to the d-d transitions 4T1g(4F)→2Eg(2G), 4T1g(4F)→4T1g(4P), 4T1g(4F)→4A2g(4F), 4T1g(4F)→4T2g(4F), respectively in octahedral ligand field around Co2+ ions. Direct band gap energy, Eg~ 1.5 eV in the oxide is obtained by extrapolating the linear part of the Tauc plot to the energy axis indicates fairly strong semiconducting nature of ZnCo2O3.
For the sub-65 nm CMOS process, it is necessary to develop a new silicide material and an accompanying process that allows the silicide to maintain a low sheet resistance and to have an enhanced thermal stability, thus providing for a wider process window. In this study, we have evaluated the property and unit process compatibility of newly proposed composite silicides. We fabricated composite silicide layers on single crystal silicon from $10nm-Ni_{1-x}Co_x/single-crystalline-Si(100),\;10nm-Ni_{1-x}Co_x/poly-crystalline-\;Si(100)$ wafers (x=0.2, 0.5, and 0.8) with the purpose of mimicking the silicides on source and drain actives and gates. Both the film structures were prepared by thermal evaporation and silicidized by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) from $700^{\circ}C\;to\;1100^{\circ}C$ for 40 seconds. The sheet resistance, cross-sectional microstructure, surface composition, were investigated using a four-point probe, a field emission scanning probe microscope, a field ion beam, an X-ray diffractometer, and an Auger electron depth profi1ing spectroscopy, respectively. Finally, our newly proposed composite silicides had a stable resistance up to $1100^{\circ}C$ and maintained it below $20{\Omega}/Sg$., while the conventional NiSi was limited to $700^{\circ}C$. All our results imply that the composite silicide made from NiCo alloy films may be a possible candidate for 65 nm-CMOS devices.
A series of liquid crystalline polyesters containing X-shaped mesogenic groups in main chain were synthesized through the solution polymerization of 2,5-di(4-substituted benzoate)hydroquinones and 4,4'-dicarboxy-1,8-diphenoxyoctane. The structures and properties of synthesized polymers were investigated by $^1H$-NMR, FT-IR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and wide angel X-ray diffraction (WXRD). Inherent viscosities (${\eta}_{inh}$) of polymers were measured between 0.35 and 0.66 dL/g in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, and they were easily soluble in most of organic solvents used for this experiment. All polymers revealed relatively low melting transition temperature ($T_m$) and crystallinity, and also showed thermotropic nematic liquid crystallinity when they were heated to their melting temperatures. These properties of polymers were presumably due to the presence of the bulky substituting groups on the hydroquinone unit in mesogenic group.
