Up to date, in many application fields of GSIS, we usually have used vector-based spatial overlay or grid-based spatial algebra for extraction and analysis of spatial data. But, because these methods are based on traditional crisp set, concept which is used these methods. shows that many kinds of spatial data are partitioned with sharp boundary. That is not agree with spatial distribution pattern of data in the real world. Therefore, it has a error that a region or object is restricted within only one attribution (One-Entity-one-value). In this study, for improving previous methods that deal with spatial data based on crisp set, we are suggested to apply into spatial overlay process the concept of fuzzy set which is good for expressing the boundary vagueness or ambiguity of spatial data. two methods be given. First method is a fuzzy interval partition by fuzzy subsets in case of spatially continuous data, and second method is fuzzy boundary set applied on categorical data. with a case study to get a land suitability map for the development site selection of new town, we compared results between Boolean analysis method and fuzzy spatial overlay method. And as a result, we could find out that suitability map using fuzzy spatial overlay method provide more reasonable information about development site of new town, and is more adequate type in the aspect of presentation.

After the housing shortage problem for the youths has invoked substantial social attention recently, Seoul's 2030 Youth Housing Program has been timely improvised and successfully providing the decent rental housing packages for the deprived youths of the City. Its housing supply rate, nevertheless, did not sufficiently catch up with the actual need of the youth group so that the program goal is seen by many to be difficult to readily achieve. In an effort to counteract such adversities, it is seen, in this study, that the clarification of the criteria that judges adjacency condition for up-zoning when a candidate housing site is adjoining to a denser land-use classes could be one effective method to augment its supply rate. This study, in this context, has performed spatial structure analyses via space syntax method against: 1) the conceptual diagram in the City's official manual that renders the acceptable adjacency conditions, and; 2) numerous real-world 2030 Youth Housing cases enlisted in the City's public notices that permit their construction. The consequences are that the axial map is not applicable whereas the convex map is adequate for the purpose at hand, and, among all the cases, those spaces that are adjacent with its Depth of less than 2 are seen to successfully satisfy the official adjacency condition for the up-zoning.
Forest canopy height can be used for estimate of above-ground forest biomass (AGB) by means of the allometric equation. The remote locations and harsh conditions of mangrove forests limit the number of field inventory data stations needed for large-scale modeling of carbon and biomass dynamics. Although active and passive spaceborne sensors have proven successful in mapping mangroves globally, the sensors generally have coarse spatial resolution and overlook small-scale features. Here we generate a 12 m spatial resolution mangrove canopy height map from TanDEM-X data acquired over the world largest intact mangrove forest located in the Sundarbans. With single-pol. TanDEM-X data from 2011 to 2013, the proposed technique makes use of the fact that the double-bounce scattering that occurs between the water and mangrove trees yields water surface level elevation over mangrove forest areas, thus allowing us to estimate forest height with the assumption of an underlying flat topography. Our observations have led to a large-scale mangrove canopy height map over the entire Sundarbans region at a 12 m spatial resolution. Our canopy height estimates were validated with ground measurements acquired in 2015, a correlation coefficient of 0.83 and a RMSE of 0.84 m. With globally available TanDEM-X data, the technique described here will potentially provide accurate global maps of mangrove canopy height at 12 m spatial resolution and provide crucial information for understanding biomass and carbon dynamics in the mangrove ecosystems.
High dynamic range (HDR) images represent a far wider numerical range of exposures than common digital images. Thus it can accurately store intensity levels of light found in the specific scenes generated by light sources in the real world. Although a kind of professional HDR cameras which support fast accurate capturing has been developed, high costs prevent from employing those in general working environments. The common method to produce a HDR image with lower cost is to take a set of photos of the target scene with a range of exposures by general purpose cameras, and then to transform them into a HDR image by commercial softwares. However, the method needs complicate and accurate camera calibration processes. Furthermore, creating HDR environment maps which are used to produce high quality imaging contents includes delicate time-consuming manual processes. In this paper, we present an automatic HDR panorama environment map generating system which was constructed to make the complicated jobs of taking pictures easier. And we show that our system can be effectively applicable to photo-realistic compositing tasks which combine 3D graphic models with a 2D background scene using image-based lighting techniques.

In present, physical distribution industry fields are offering more convenient services using RFID, but there is plenty of room for improvement. And then, utilizing advantages of RFID which quick and simple manages goods and GPS which gets information of position at the present, we implemented a physical distribution management system can manages the information for distribution process of goods easier. We can get much information that the number of loaded goods, the data of goods, the state of distribution, whether or not missing, etc. as attached a RFID reader to the truck. and when truck is moving, we can also obtain much information consumer want that the real time data of position, distribution routes, etc. for loaded goods as received a latitude and longitude from GPS. These information have recorded, managed, and linked Google map, we can grasp the distribution information of goods on World Wide Web service. Because this service is focus on the image not the text can give the information required by the consumer on visual, it is different from the existing service. At this point of time that the RFID and GPS have used in overall industry, If these services have researched and developed with transportation, tour, etc. industry as well as physical distribution, it is possible to utilize more widely.

Many classification algorithms for real world data suffer from a data class imbalance problem. To solve this problem, various methods have been proposed such as altering the training balance and designing better sampling strategies. The previous methods are not satisfy in the distribution of the input data and the constraint. In this paper, we propose a focused sampling method which is more superior than previous methods. To solve the problem, we must select some useful data set from all training sets. To get useful data set, the proposed method devide the region according to scores which are computed based on the distribution of SOM over the input data. The scores are sorted in ascending order. They represent the distribution or the input data, which may in turn represent the characteristics or the whole data. A new training dataset is obtained by eliminating unuseful data which are located in the region between an upper bound and a lower bound. The proposed method gives a better or at least similar performance compare to classification accuracy of previous approaches. Besides, it also gives several benefits : ratio reduction of class imbalance; size reduction of training sets; prevention of over-fitting. The proposed method has been tested with kNN classifier. An experimental result in ecoli data set shows that this method achieves the precision up to 2.27 times than the other methods.

In Korean academic societies, old maps has not yet been properly investigated in terms of their genealogy, classification, detailed place names, historical backgrounds and the other aspects. With publication of the bibliographies and papers on old maps reserved in museum and library, the scope of research enlarged gradually its scope from 1970s. In 1980s, with the development of theoretical geography, scientific analysis were applied to investigate the projection method of Daedongyeo-jido. The 1990s proved a prominent decade for researches. The photo-copies of old maps enabled researchers to investigate the in-depth comparative study. The more important thing is that old maps became to be powerful instrument in the research of historical geography, such as territorial disputes and marine name(東海). And county old maps compiled by region became to be regional-cultural contents of local areas. Important issues in old map research in Korean academic societies are about Cheonha-do which is unique old world map in Korea, grid-system projection in old county maps and the genealogy of Daedongyeo-jido(manuscript and block print edition). This study shows that bibliography of all old maps preserved in each library and museum should be standardized. This could enable the exchange of information of old maps between institutes. The more important thing is that conciliation of human, social and natural sciences should be applied in the research of old maps.

Recently, our construction industry is actively participating in numerous city planning projects in the third world countries. Considering the current depression of domestic real estate market, the emerging foreign demands could certainly provide substantial opportunities for the domestic industry to overcome the trough. For the field planners dealing with such foreign projects, though, the immediate problem is the lack of public statistics and geographic information to perform spatial analyses and/or prepare master plans. This study, in this context, tries to simulate a process to construct a digitized basemap of the case area, 'Bab Ezzouar,' in Algeria of Northern Africa. The area is a typical municipality that lacks the IT databases. To overcome the data shortage, the study uses the satellite map tiles so as to digitize the roads and building structures. It then estimates the block-wise populations based on the building image interpolation as well as the supplementary field survey data. The topographic TINs are also built by the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) digital elevation maps so that the three-dimensional configuration of the structures and terrains are rendered to check the urban scenery and skylines.
With the increasing use of high-performance mobile devices such as smartphones, users have been able to connect to the Internet anywhere, anytime, so that Location Based Services(LBSes) have been popular among the users in order to obtain personalized information associated with their locations. The services have advanced to provide the information realistically and intuitively by adopting Augmented Reality(AR) technology, where the technology utilizes various sensors embedded in the mobile devices. However, the services have inherent problems due to the small screen size of the mobile devices and the complexity of the real world environment. Overlapping contents on a small screen and user's possible movement should be taken into consideration in displaying the icons on objects that block user's environment such as trees and buildings. The problems mainly happen when the services use only user's location and sensor data to calculate the position of the displayed information. In order to solve the problems, this paper proposes a method that applies street data extracted from a digital map. The method uses the street data as well as the location and direction data to determine contents that are placed on both sides of a virtual street which augments the real street. With scrolling the virtual street, which means a virtual movement, some information far away from the location of the user can be identified without user's actual movement. Also the proposed method is implemented for region "Aenigol", and the efficiency and usefulness of the method is verified.
