Information technology's potential for changing processes is widely acknowledged and various information technologies exist as a tool making business reengineering possible. Groupware is one of information technology that typically work in concert to bring out change in processes. This paper attempts to explain the importance of groupware as a critical information technology for business reengineering by developing a methodology of applying groupware to business reengineering. In order to understand the applicability of groupware to business reengineering, this paper has the following objectives. 1) Examines how the capability of groupware can play as a chang lever or enabler of process innovation explicitly. 2) Propose a integrated business reengineering methodology that incorporates process, process environment and information technologies specifically. A case study was used to provide the insight how groupware can play as a enabler of process innovation. The case was analyzed according to the reengineering methodology we proposed.

In the last ten years, manufacturing companies like GE, IBM, Motorola and service companies like GE Capital and CITIBANK have realized that Six Sigma has standed for quality reform movemant. Six Sigma management which makes the critic effects on the quality management have enlarged and applied office indirect work process and service department as well beyond question manufacturing process. Then Can Six Sigma application methodology from manufacturing industry be applied to service industry without transformation? Can Six Sigma be applied on improvement of Information system quality which is the critic key figure of current successful companies? These questions would be resolved by conducting researches about application and evaluation of Six Sigma on manufacturing industry and service industry. This paper will furnish information of Six Sigma's new function for future business situation through comparing those researches

Project delays, cost overruns, and disputes are becoming a norm for the construction industry in Hong Kong. Researchers argue that the inability of traditional contracts to manage risk and associated changes are perhaps the main points of contention. The Institution of Civil Engineers published a new engineering contract (NEC), NEC4 Suite of Contracts in this to facilitate better risk management through collaborative culture in construction projects. NEC aims to increase the chances of project success thought its flexible nature of contracts, 'simple' and 'clearly written' documents and provision for the incentive by adopting a better management approach. This paper focuses on traditional and NEC contracts to compare risk management and change management aspects. Through literature review and preliminary interviews with three industry professionals, the paper is exploring how a change in traditional contracts can recuperate from disaster. Our interviewees in this work have extensive experience in traditional as well as in NEC contracts. The results suggest a proactive risk management provisions in NEC contracts does make a difference to avoid later escalation of issues. Whereas, management of change helps streamline all identified issues through a structured process without going in mediation or litigation. NEC, with its new approach to collaborative working, allows partners to be vigilant, yet gratifying in the project process.

최근 건설 프로젝트가 대형화, 복잡화, 전문화되면서 다양한 참여자들 사이에서 발생하는 방대한 양의 정보 활용이 중요해 지고 있다. 발생되는 다양한 정보 중 일정정보는 건설프로젝트의 중심적인 정보이다. 건설현장 관련 참여자간 일정정보교환 미흡은 공기지연, 품질하자와 같은 건설생산성 저해 요인을 유발한다. 현재, 건설 산업에서는 건축물의 전 생애 주기 동안 필요한 데이터를 생산하고 관리하는 BIM(Building Information Modeling)에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구는 BIM을 기반으로 건설공사의 일정정보를 체계적으로 관리 할 수 있는 일정관리 정보 체계를 구축하는 것이다. 이를 위해 BIM적용 일정관리 업무 프로세스를 구축하였으며, 일정정보를 구축하기 위한 작업분류체계를 도출 하였다. 또한 일정정보 구축에 필요한 속성 중 BIM모델에서 추출 할 수 있는 정보를 도출하고, 일정관리에 필요한 속성정보와 연계하여 일정을 생성 하고 공사 진행 시점별 일정관리를 위한 필요 정보를 제시한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the effect of human capital supply chain on the firm performance mediated by innovation culture and innovation process on small- and medium-sized construction enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. A survey has been distributed to all construction SMEs that have direct involvement in construction work (contractors and subcontractors). The construction SMEs including medium- and small-scale construction services in three Provinces, namely, the special region of Yogyakarta, East Java, and Central Java. Through purposive sampling technique, primary data is collected by giving a questionnaire to the owner/manager of construction SMEs. The target sample in this study was 200 respondents who have been operating for a minimum of two years. 154 valid questionnaires could be processed. Data analysis uses structural equation modeling with AMOS 24. The results of the study conclude that there is a positive effect on human capital supply chain on firm performance mediated by innovation culture and innovation process, while innovation culture does not affect firm performance. In sum, the innovation culture mediates the relationship between human capital supply chain and firm performance, and the innovation process mediates the relationship between human capital supply chain and firm performance.

프로젝트 수행시 명확한 업무 프로세스를 정립하고 이의 운영을 평가해 보는 것은 조직의 업무 효율성 향상을 위해 필요하다. 설계사무소 역시 프로젝트 규모의 대형화에 따라 효율적인 프로세스를 적용하여 높은 품질의 성과물을 산출하고 생산성 향상을 추구하는 것이 필요하게 되었다. 이를 위한 한 방안으로 본 논문에서는 설계업무 프로세스 성숙도 평가 체계를 제안한다. SW 개발업체의 역량 성숙도를 평가하기 위해 개발된 CMMI의 프로세스 평가체계를 벤치마킹하여, 설계 프로젝트에 있어서 업무 프로세스 성숙도 평가 체계 구축 방안을 제시하였다. 향후 설계 업무 수행 프로세스 성숙도 평가 체계가 확립된다면, 설계프로젝트의 역량을 높여 설계사무소에는 업무 효율성을, 발주자에게는 만족할만한 품질의 설계 성과물을 가져다 줄 수 있을 것이다.

Refinery plant producing petroleum products from crude oil has significantly contributed to the creation of the national interests as a leading engineering industries. However, domestic Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) companies are facing heavy competition for orders. Domestic EPC companies as EPC contractors are faced with some problems such as undertaking responsibility for FEED packages produced by other FEED companies. But domestic EPC contractors are unfamiliar to development and validation of FEED packages. It causes poor profitability and lower competitiveness of domestic companies. It is necessary for domestic companies to have capability to perform FEED activities in order to overcome these limitations instead of focusing on EPC phase after FEED phase. The systematic procedure is needed to perform the FEED activities, however, there are present difficulties on it due to the lack of experience in FEED packages development which require various engineering knowledge of chemical process, mechanics, electrics, instrumentation, civil engineering. This study has applied systems engineering method which is multi-disciplinary approach to derive and verify the solution to meet the customer's needs when the complex system is developed to task execution process development of FEED activities for refinery plant. The problems that may occur in the future were identified in advance by taking into account the various stakeholders and system context through the application of systems engineering. It helps to develop the task execution process systematically. The developed task execution process of FEED activities is planned to make effectiveness verified by engineering professionals experienced in FEED and continually enhance this process by field application.

최근 도심지 고층건축공사가 증가하면서 건설자원의 효율적인 관리가 중요시되고 있으나 현재 국내 건설현장에서 건설자재의 공급에 대한 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다. 공정과 연계되지 못한 자재의 조달 및 양중은 현장 내 재고 증가 및 작업지연을 유발하면, 복잡한 정보전달 체계는 관련 작업의 의사결정의 지연의 원인으로 작용하여 결과적으로 공사기간에 절대적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서 공정진행을 고려한 조달 및 양중작업에서 각 공사담당자간의 효율적인 정좌전달 체계의 구축은 효과적인 공사수행을 위해 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 사례조사를 통해 건설자재의 조달 및 양중작업의 문제점을 분석하여 가치흐름분석을 통해 구체적인 낭비요소를 추출한 뒤, 공사참여자간의 의사소통 체계를 구축 및 양중계획 업무흐름 개선방안을 제시하였다. 개선방안은 web을 기반으로 한 조달 및 양중시스템의 전반적인 체계로서 활용될 것이다.

The general contractor business in South Korea settled in the railway construction during the Daehan Empire, but depending on the construction intention and circumstances of the railroad, relationship among employer-contractor-subcontractor and their roles under the system of the construction process had changed. At the time of laying the Gyeongin and Gyeongbu-rail, the Empire, which had no capital and technology, passed all the power and responsibility of the rail laying to the contractor, who was involved in most of the process. After this, the empire tried to lay Gyeongui-railroad without the help of other countries. Japan prepared for the Russo-Japanese War and decided to construct the railway rapidly, and completed the railway in parallel with direct management work and contract work. From that time on, the general contractor would only do the work. During the construction of railroad in Daehan empire, the general contract business system was established. The ambiguous process was sorted out and divided. At this time, subjects in charge of design and construction has been divided. The internal organization of the project owner and the contractor were organaized and specialized.

The information generated in large-scale and complex construction projects are transferred continuously and transformed into project products on the long span life cycle. Therefore, information flow management is related with the success of project directly. However, certain characteristics of large-scale and complex construction projects make the solving the problem more difficultly. Although several information retrieval systems support the information management system, it is not suitable to grasp information flows. Hence, we developed an information retrieval system specialized with the information flow based on a preceding research. The system consists of a relation-based database and the process information transferring relation inference application module. The system enables project managers to manage the entire project process more efficiently and each project member to work their own task being served the information flow retrieval results.
