Hedonic or Utilitarian : Why People Keep Using Social Network Services

  • Social networking services (SNSs) serve to strengthen people's social relationships by providing ways for people to utilize such relationships especially like workplace. With the development of the internet worldwide, the number of SNS users is rapidly growing and a wider range of service types have become available. In this study, we designed a research model with a focus on what makes people use SNSs at workplace and how it is associated with changes in relationship quality and their intention to continue using the services and analyzed data collected for the research model. Theoretically, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was invoked and measured, in terms of hedonic and utilitarian values, and satisfaction and trust were adopted as variables of relationship quality. Data were collected from Facebook users using workplace, and a partial least squares (PLS) analysis was made on 188 data points. The analysis results showed that two forms of motivation-hedonic and utilitarian-are separated from each other in their influence and that utilitarian value is more important than hedonic value, especially when it comes to users' satisfaction. In addition, the analysis found a weak relationship between satisfaction and trust in SNS environments; this was a little different from the results of previous studies.

  • This research focuses on determining the impact of human resource management activities on the compatibility and work results of employees of Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) listed companies. The paper includes five parts: introduction, literature review, research methodology, research results, and conclusion and policy implications. The data are collected from the survey of 350 listed companies in HOSE, in which 315 survey notes filled with sufficient information are used for analysis. The paper employs both qualitative method and quantitative method. Group discussion of 10 experts is for qualitative research. Quantitative method performs analysis of Statistics, Cronbach's Alpha, EFA analysis, CFA analysis and SEM model. The results of the research clearly indicate that human resource management (HRM) activities are measured through improving the ability, improving the motivation and improving the opportunity. While compatibility is measured through suitability, connection and sacrifice; whereby HRM activities of ability improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability and connection; HRM activities of motivation improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability, connection and sacrifice; and HRM activities of opportunity improvement have a positive effect on the job suitability, sacrifice and connection; Finally, the job suitability, sacrifice and connection positively affect the work results of employees.

스타트업 항공사 객실승무원 조직의 안전리더십 구성요인에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Research on Factors Composing the Flight Attendant Organization's Safety Leadership)

  • A startup airline is motivating its flight attendants to do voluntary and effective safety behavior as well as setting up safety culture in its organization at the same time in the early stage of revenue-flight service due to the lack of flight operation experience compared to competing airlines. Based on the sample of flight attendants from a startup airline, this paper tried to perform empirical analysis which focused on relationship among safety leadership, safety motivation and safety behavior. According to empirical analysis, it was proven psychological resources had a significantly positive effect on work engagement. Work engagement is proven to have a significantly positive effect on both flight attendants' safety motivation and their safety work. It was also implied that flight attendants couldn't understand a contradictory attitude of their leaders because leaders had them focus on safety work engagement while not providing enough human resource and capital. In addition, it was found leader's excessive emphasizing safety policy might not result in flight attendants' safety behavior.

광주.전남 지역의 중등학교 기술 담당 교사의 동기-위생요인 간 만족도 및 타 교과 교사와의 비교 연구 (A Comparison Study on Satisfaction with Motivation-Hygiene Factors between Technology and Other Teachers in Gwangju City and Chon-nam Province)

  • 본 연구는 교사의 직무 및 그에 따른 보상과 관계된 동기-위생요인들에 대한 중 고등학교 기술 담당 교사와 타 교과 담당 교사의 만족도를 조사, 분석하여 그들의 직무동기 유발에 필요한 정보를 제공코자 했다. 광주, 전남도 내 중 고등학교 기술 담당 및 타 교과 담당 교사 216명으로부터 자료를 수집, T 검증으로 p <.05 혹은 그 이상에서 분석했다. 기술 담당 교사들의 동기요인 만족도 평균은 M = 3.85, 위생요인 만족도 평균은 M = 3.38로 동기요인에 대한 만족도가 높았다. 개별 요인별로 보면, 책무성에 대한 만족도가 가장 높았고 그 다음이 일 자체, 성취, 인간관계, 직업안정, 성장 가능성, 인정, 감독 기술 순이었으며, 이들은 모두 중도(그저 그렇다 = 3.00)를 상회하고 있었다. 직무 환경과 보수, 두 위생요인에 대해서는 중도에 가까운 불만족을 나타냈다. 이 두 요인을 개선하면 그들의 만족도는 높아질 것이다. 기술 담당 교사들은 10개의 동기 및 위생 중, 책무성(동기요인)과 인간관계(위생요인)에서 타 교과 교사들보다 더 만족하고 있었다. 그들은 교사로서의 책무성과 학교 구성원 간의 인간관계에 대해서 상대적으로 더 긍정적 이었다. 그러나 나머지 8개 요인에서는 차이가 없었다. 전체적으로 보면, 직무만족 혹은 불만족에 영향을 미치는 동기-위생요인에 대한 이들 두 교사집단 간의 만족도는 비슷하다고 판단된다. 본 연구는 광주, 전라남도 내 기술 담당 교사들과 타 교과 담당 교사들만을 대상으로 연구되었으므로 연구 결과를 전국적으로 일반화하는 데는 제한이 뒤따른다.

어린이집교사의 역할갈등이 일 플로우에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Role Conflicts on the Work-related Flow of Childcare Teachers)

  • 본 연구에서는 Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi가 제시한 인지적, 정의적, 동기적 차원의 플로우 개념을 바탕으로, 어린이집 교사가 직업적 상황에서 경험하는 일 플로우를 측정하였다. 그리고 일 플로우가 어린이집교사의 역할갈등의 다양한 요인들과 어떠한 관계를 가지는지 분석해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 154명의 어린이집 교사들로부터 자료를 수집하였으며, 일 플로우 변수군(몰입, 즐거움, 내재적 동기)과 역할갈등 변수군(교사개인, 유아, 조직구성원, 학부모, 행정 및 업무지원, 장학, 사회적 인식) 간의 관계를 검증하고 각 개별변수들의 상호 영향력을 검증하기 위하여 정준상관분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 어린이집교사의 일 플로우와 역할갈등 변수군 간의 관계는 상호교호적인 한편, 일 플로우의 예측변수로서 역할갈등을 설정하는 인과관계모형의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 어린이집교사의 일 플로우의 변수 중 몰입과 즐거움은 교사개인 및 장학관련 역할갈등과의 상호영향력이 높고, 즐거움은 행정 및 업무지원과 장학관련 역할갈등과의 상호영향력이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 관련 국내 외 연구와의 비교 및 이론적 논의점을 기술하였고, 어린이집교사의 개인적, 조직적 맥락의 다양한 변수를 고려한 플로우 연구의 필요성을 제안하였다.

대학도서관 사서직원의 동기유발에 관한 조사연구 (A study on the motivation level of the university librarians in korea)

  • This study is to identified the motivation level which university librarians in Korea perceived as motivating them, and to examine relationship between those motivation level and the demographic characteristics of university librarians. The results of this study are summarized as follows : (1) The factors that the motivation level is higher than the average (3.000) are shown to be human relation (3.399), working itself (3.198), and supervision (3.050), but the other factors : recognition (2.995), communication (2.985), salary (2.892), job evaluation (2.622), job environment (2.619), and promotion (2.126) are shown to be lower than the average. (2) In the results of X$^{2}$ test about the differences of the motivation level among 6 demographic attributes of the population, the attributes shown a significant difference are as follows : Salary : rank ; working terms ; sex ; national university or private one ; qualification. Promotion : rank ; sex ; national university or private one ; qualification. Recognition : rank. Human relation : no significant differences among 6 attributes. Work itself : rank ; sex. Communication : rank ; working terms ; sex ; education background ; qualification. Job evaluation : sex ; education background ; qualification. Job environment : sex ; national university or private one. Supervision : rank ; working terms ; sex ; education background ; qualification.

The Impact of Robotics on Employment and Motivation of Employees in the Service Sector, with Special Reference to Health Care

  • Background: The economy is being lifted by the new concept of robotics, but we cannot be sure of all the possible benefits. At this early stage, it therefore becomes important to find out the possible benefits/limitations associated with robotics, so that the positives can be capitalized, established, and developed further for the employment and motivation of employees in the health care sector, for overall economic development. The negatives should also be further studied and mitigated. Methods: This study is an exploratory research, based on secondary data, such as books on topics related to robotics, websites, public websites of concerned departments for data and statistics, journals, newspapers and magazines, websites of health care providers, and different printed materials (brochures, etc). Results: The impact of robotics has both positive and negative impacts on the employment and motivation of employees in the retail sector. So far, there has been no substantial research done into robotics, especially in the health care sector. Conclusion: Replacing employees with robots is an inevitable choice for organizations in the service sector, more so in the health care sector because of the challenging and sometimes unhealthy working environments, but, at the same time, the researchers propose that it should be done in a manner that helps in improving the employment and motivation of employees in this sector.

  • "I think security is only trying to make it uncomfortable." "10% of my work is entering IDs and passwords, such as boot passwords, mobile phone authentication numbers, etc." As reflected in the complaint above, stress caused by information security among organizations' members is increasing. In order to strengthen information security, practical solutions to reduce stress are needed because the motivation of the members is needed in order for organizations to function properly. Therefore, this study attempts to suggest key factors that can enhance security while reducing information security stress among members of organizations. To this end, based on the theory of protection motivation, trust and security stress from information security policies are set as mediating factors to explain changes in security reinforcement behavior. Furthermore, risk, efficacy, and reaction costs of cyberattacks are considered as prerequisites. Our study suggests a solution to the security reinforcement problem by analyzing the factors that influence the behavior of members of organizations. In turn, this can raise protection motivation among members.

The Impact of Workplace Culture on Employee Retention: An Empirical Study from Lebanon

  • One of the most important aspects of any firm is to motivate its employees to go the extra mile. In order to do work properly, people must be motivated. The total effectiveness and efficiency of workers, as well as a company's performance, is directly related to the degree of motivation of those who work there. On the other hand, demotivated personnel do not put much effort and, when they get a better opportunity, leave their places of employment. For Survey, this study used online Google forms to collect data from September 2021 to October 2021. The target demographic for the research was those who worked for Lebanon's private businesses. The poll was conducted in English, the second language of Lebanon. Furthermore, 179 workers (N = 179) were utilized for this research. The research suggests that fun events and support for fun managers enable workers to connect informally and help people know each other better, creating an environment that promotes friendship building. Based on these connected reasons, fun activities and the support of managers for fun are considerably linked to turnover.

전공선택동기와 학업성취도가 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Major Choice Motivation and Academic Achievement on Career Maturity)

  • 이 연구는 대학생의 전공선택 동기(개인적 동기, 사회적 동기), 학업성취도, 진로성숙도의 상관관계를 파악하고 진로성숙도의 영향요인을 확인하여 진로성숙도 향상을 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 시도되었다. C도 소재 대학생 199명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료 수집하였다. 전공선택 개인적동기 사회적동기, 학업성취도와 진로성숙도의 상관관계를 살펴본 결과 진로성숙도는 전공선택 개인적동기(r=.417, p=.00)와 유의한 양의 상관관계를 나타냈으며 전공선택 사회적동기, 학업성취도와는 유의한 상관관계가 없었다. 진로성숙도의 영향요인은 전공선택 개인적 동기, 경제활동, 전공계열 순이었으며 설명력은 24%이었다. 따라서 전공과 관련있는 분야에서 경제활동을 할 수 있도록 대학차원의 지원이 필요 할 것으로 보여지며 전공선택시 개인적동기가 중요한 만큼 고등학생을 대상으로 한 진로체험이나 미래 직장체험등의 기회를 폭넓게 제공하여 전공선택시 개인적 동기를 높이는데 주력해야 할 것이다.
