  • The purpose of this study were to analyze work function and labor productivity in school foodservice systems through work sampling methodology. Conventional foodservice were classified into 5 group depending on the number of meals served. Commissary school foodservices were also classified into 5 group by cluster analysis using the number of meals served, the number of satellite schools, and the duration of time for delivery of food. Work measurement through work sampling methodology was conducted in at 5 conventional and 21 commissary food -services during 3 consecutive days from September to October in 1995. Results from work measurement through work sampling methodology were as followed : The most prevalent work functions was cleaning (26.5%) and then processing (25.1%) in conventional while it was processing (30.9%) and then cleaning(25.2%) in commissary school foodservice. Delay was 22.9% and 19.7% respectively. Mean labor minutes per meal of conventional and commissary foodservics were 4.57 and 4.09 minutes, respectively : no significant difference in labor minutes per meal existed between the two systems. but mean labor minutes per meal of commissary foodsevices(1.79min) was significantly lower than that of conventional foodservice(2.33min) during work time before service (p<0.05). Productivity was significantly lower in foodservices which served less than 400 servings ; n significant differences existed among 401-70, 701-1,100 and 1,101-1,500 meals. The highest productivity was in conventional school foodservices which served 1,501-1,900meals. Labor minutes per meal of commissary school foodservice which served less than 400meals per day was significantly lower than those of foodservice which served 401-1,900meals (p<0.05). Labor minutes per meal, preparation and cleaning were positively correlation in two school foodservice systems.

  • Let p be a prime and $f(z)=\Sigma_{n}a(n)q^n$ be a weakly holomorphic modular function for ${\Gamma}^*_0(p)$ with a(0) = 0. We use Bruinier and Funke's work to find the generating series of modular traces of f(z) as Jacobi forms.

  • Background: Occupational pesticide exposure is a potential risk for respiratory health effects. Most clinical studies on pesticide exposure were related to acute exposure, and only a few studies on chronic exposure have been conducted. This study investigated the chronic respiratory health status and the chronic effects of occupational pesticide exposures of farmers in Gyeonggi-do. Methods: Surveys and pulmonary function tests were conducted on 1,697 farmers in 16 regions of Gyeonggi-do. The structured questionnaire included demographic characteristics, medical history, recent respiratory symptoms and diseases, and work-related conditions, and was conducted through one-on-one interviews. The prevalence of respiratory diseases was compared by the odds ratios (ORs) at 95% confidence intervals (CIs) estimated by logistic regression analysis. Additional multivariate logistic regression analysis was also conducted. Results: Pesticide work groups showed significant association with an obstructive pattern in the lung function test (unadjusted OR, 2.38; 95% CI, 1.17-5.52). Selected work-related variables of pesticide exposure were 'start age,' 'cumulative duration,' 'mixing pesticides,' and 'protection(goggle).' The obstructive pattern of lung function test showed significant associations with mixing pesticides (OR, 2.30; 95% CI,1.07-5.46), and protection (goggle) use (OR, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.12-0.79). Conclusions: Mixing two or more pesticides showed a significant association. Wearing goggles can be seen as an indicator of awareness of the protective equipment and proper wearing of protective equipment, and loss of pulmonary function can be prevented when appropriate protection is worn.

  • The importance of design value engineering in construction projects recently is rising, which deal about in reduction of cost and improvement of quality. Especially, From half of this year 2005, It is predicted that the value engineering is necessary to be carried out in the projects having project cost more than 10 billion won. In increasing importance of value engineering, we require a way by which we accomplish value engineering systemically and effectively though it is not common in domestic situation. So, this case study shows a way in carrying out value engineering effectively. As the way is to apply QFD(Quality Function Deployment) in pre-study work of design value engineering, this is expected to contribute as function analysis and reflect the requirement of users or owners.

  • This paper presents a revised procedure for computation of double-K fracture parameters of concrete split-tension cube specimen using weight function of the centrally cracked plate of finite strip with a finite width. This is an improvement over the previous work of the authors in which the determination of double-K fracture parameters of concrete for split-tension cube test using weight function of the centrally cracked plate of infinite strip with a finite width was presented. In a recent research, it was pointed out that there are great differences between a finite strip and an infinite strip regarding their weight function and the solution of infinite strip can be utilized in the split-tension specimens when the notch size is very small. In the present work, improved version of LEFM formulas for stress intensity factor, crack mouth opening displacement and crack opening displacement profile presented in the recent research work are incorporated. The results of the double-K fracture parameters obtained using revised procedure and the previous work of the authors is compared. The double-K fracture parameters of split-tension cube specimen are also compared with those obtained for standard three point bend test specimen. The input data required for determining double-K fracture parameters for both the specimen geometries for laboratory size specimens are obtained using well known version of the Fictitious Crack Model.

  • One dimensional (1-D) structures of ZnO nanorods are promising elements for future optoelectronic devices. However there are still many obstacles in fabricating high-quality p-type ZnO up to now. In addition, it is limited to measure the degree of the doping concentration and carrier transport of the doped 1-D ZnO with conventional methods such as Hall measurement. Here we demonstrate the measurement of the electronic properties of p- and n-doped ZnO nanorods by the Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM). Vertically aligned ZnO nanorods with intrinsic n-doped, As-doped p-type, and p-n junction were grown by vapor phase epitaxy (VPE). Individual nanowires were then transferred onto Au films deposited on Si substrates. The morphology and surface potentials were measured simultaneously by the KPFM. The work function of the individual nanorods was estimated by comparing with that of gold film as a reference, and the doping concentration of each ZnO nanorods was deduced. Our KPFM results show that the average work function difference between the p-type and n-type regions of p-n junction ZnO nanorod is about ~85meV. This value is in good agreement with the difference in the work function between As-doped p- and n-type ZnO nanorods (96meV) measured with the same conditions. This value is smaller than the expected values estimated from the energy band diagram. However it is explained in terms of surface state and surface band bending.

  • The aim of this study were to evaluate the effect of kinesio taping on isokinetic muscular function and pain of knee joint. The subjects for this study were twelve elderly women($65{\sim}70$years) suffered by knee joint pain over more than three years. The taping methods performed on 3 times a week for 8 weeks for improvement of isokinetic muscular function. Also, the change of visual analogue scale(VSA) and varval rating scale(VRA) has been measured before and post taping 8 weeks. Paired t-test was performed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance. After 8 weeks, the results of the study are as follow; First, peak torque, peak torque % BW, total work and ipsilateral balance ratio were significantly improved. And, work fatigue, visual analogue scale and verval rating scale were decreased significantly after 8 weeks taping. The results suggest that applying kinesio taping on knee joint may improve isokinetic muscular function of elderly women. Therefore kinesio taping method was effective for pain relief and prevention of knee joint pain in the elderly women.

  • We consider an estimation of discontinuous variance function in nonparametric heteroscedastic random design regression model. We first propose estimators of a change point and jump size in variance function and then construct an estimator of entire variance function. We examine the rates of convergence of these estimators and give results on their asymptotics. Numerical work reveals that the effectiveness of change point analysis in variance function estimation is quite significant.
