목초액을 첨가한 하이드로 겔 제제로부터 우르솔릭산의 피부 침적 및 보습에 미치는 영향 (The effect on skin deposition and moisturizing of ursolic acid in hydrogel system containing wood vinegar)

  • Wood vinegar is well known as a softening agent affecting on the stratum corneum that is easy to penetrate into the skin. In this study, we prepared mixed ursolic acid hydrogel with wood vinegar(1, 2, 5%) as a penetration enhancer. The accumulation of ursolic acid in the skin from hydrogels was evaluated in vitro hairless mouse skin and skin moisturizing effect of them was evaluated using the corneometer and the tewermeter. And the role of stratum corneum as a protective barrier was evaluated as well. The hydrogels were retained about 40% of water retention capacity 2hrs and had better effect on the stripped skin than full-thickness skin. The accumulation of ursolic acid through stripped skin from hydrogels with wood vinegar was not change compared to normal skin, which indicated the action site of wood vinegar and the accumulation site of ursolic acid would be stratum corneum. From these result, we could find wood vinegar seems to be a good enhancer for active materials with anti-wrinkle and anti aging effect such as ursolic acid, and can be a developed topical delivery system maintaining excellent water retention capacity.

왕겨초액 제조장치 개발 (Development of Chaff-vinegar Distiller)

  • The concerns of wood vinegar increase with its various applications to food additive, functional drink, and in the sustainable farming. Chaff vinegar, a by-product of chaff charcoal which is produced by distilling smoke and having similar ingredients and efficacy with wood vinegar, contains harmful tar in the acceptable range and can be mass-produced. A chaff vinegar distiller, commercially mass-productive, was developed using a water cooling system. Initially distilled vinegar by the developed system contained little harmful tar in the acceptable range for the agricultural use and its acidity was about pH 3.2. Treatment of the chaff vinegar in the enhancing emergence test showed greater number of emerged seedlings, and vise-versa. Treatment of diluted in 100-holds showed 44.0% of emerged and 8.6% of not-emerged seedlings.

  • Component analysis and physico-chemical properties of wood and rice hull vinegars were conducted in order to promote the utilization of these environment-friendly materials. Results showed that wood vinegar had higher specific gravity (2.5) and tar content (0.3%), but lower acid content (1.0%) than rice hull vinegar (1.7, 0.05% and 4.4%, respectively). GC-MS component analysis revealed that rice vinegar had higher phenol content (34%) than wood vinegar (11.49%). Acetic acid and propionic acid were also higher in rice hull vinegar. On the contrary, wood vinegar had higher Furancarboxyl aldehyde content (41.6%) than rice hull vinegar (0.67%). Thus, different results in DPPH radical electron donating-abilities were obtained due to different percent composition of each vinegar.

목초액을 이용한 산란노계의 육질 개선 연구 (Effects of Wood Vinegar Addition for Meat Quality Improvement of Old Layer)

  • 산란노계를 닭고기로서 자원화하여 농가의 수익과 단백질 공급원으로 활용하기 위한 목적으로, 생산성이 낮고 경제적 가치가 적은 산란노계 사료에 목초액을 첨가${\cdot}$급여하여 육질 개선 효과를 조사하기 위하여 계획하였다. 이사브라운 갈색종 240수를 배치하여 대조구에는 육계용 배합사료, 시험 1구에는 국산 목초액 $0.8\%$, 시험 2구에는 외국산 목초액 $0.4\%$를 첨가하여 급여하였다. 사료 섭취량은 대조구가 시험구보다 3g 정도 적었는데 목초액의 유기산이 사료의 소화에 영향을 준 것으로 사려된다. 사육성적의 차이는 국산과 외국산 목초액의 구성성분의 차이에 기인하며, 외국산 목초액의 첨가는 성페르몬과 성분이 유사한 목초액이 내분비 물질의 분비를 촉진한 결과 산란율이 증가하였고, 목초액의 첨가에 따라 조지방 함유량은 다리 고기가 가슴고기보다 많았으며 육색의 개선 효과도 있었다. 다리고기의 육질과 관능검사는 근섬유의 조직을 가늘게 하고 보습력을 증가시키는 외국산 목초액 첨가구에서 좋은 평가를 받았다.

  • 천연물 신약으로 응용 가능성이 있는 목초액을 산화응집반응과 활성탄 등을 첨가하여 증류하는 방법으로 제조하였으며, 장기보존과 가속 저장 조건에서 목초액의 이화학적 변화(pH, 비중, 굴절률 및 용해 타르), 유해물질(카르보닐기, 벤조피렌 및 잔류용매) 그리고 유기산(개미산, 초산 및 프로피온산)의 변화를 검토하여 안정성을 평가하였다. 또한, 발모 모델로서 C57BL/6 마우스를 이용하여 모발 성장 효과를 살펴보았다. 보관 기간 중에 어떤 화학 결합이 일어나거나 또는 분해반응이 반복적으로 일어나지 않았다. 또한, 유해성분이나 주성분이 일정하게 유지되었고 특히 발암물질인 벤조피렌은 검출되지 않았다. 정제된 목초액 또는 미녹시딜을 2주 동안 등에 도포한 후, 어떤 임상 증상 없이 음성 대조군인 생리식염수보다 모발 성장을 촉진하였다. 따라서 화장품이나 천연물 신약으로 응용가능성이 높은 목초액을 함유한 제품 개발 시 일정한 양으로 유지되는 주성분을 함유하면서 페놀과 같은 유해물질을 줄일 수 있는 방법이 가능할 뿐만 아니라 모발 성장 촉진 효과가 있어 탈모환자에도 유용하게 사용될 것으로 기대되어진다.

키토산과 목초액 처리가 가지 및 잎상추의 생육에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Chitosan and Wood Vinegar Treatment on the Growth of Eggplant and Leaf Lettuce)

  • 친환경자재인 키토산과 목초액 처리가 가지 및 잎상추의 생육에 미치는 효과를 검토한 결과 다음과 같은 몇 가지 결론을 얻었다. 1. 키토산과 목초액 처리가 가지의 생육에 미치는 영향 1) 키토산과 목초액 처리 전 후 토양의 성분변화는 큰 차이는 없었으며, 총 미생물 수가 증가한 경향을 보였고, 미생물 종류 중에는 세균수가 많이 증가하였다. 그리고 방선균, 사상균 및 트리코데마수는 처리간 일정한 경향은 없었다. 2) 가지의 생육 및 수량은 대조구에 비해 키토산과 목초액 처리구에서 공히 유의하게 높았으며, 처리간에는 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 가지의 10a당 수량은 키토산과 목초액 처리구 공히 대조구에 비해 수량이 증가하였고, 처리 간에는 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 2. 키토산과 목초액 처리가 잎상추의 생육에 미치는 영향 1) 키토산과 목초액 처리 전 후 토양의 성분변화는 큰 차이는 없었으며, 미생물상에서는 총 미생물수가 증가하였고, 미생물 종류 중에는 세균수가 많이 증가하였다. 그 외 방선균, 사상균 및 트리코데마수는 처리간 일정한 경향은 없었다. 2) 잎상추의 생육은 대조구에 비해 키토산과 목초액 처리 공히 유의적인 차이가 인정되었으며, 처리간에는 유의적인 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 대체적으로 처리농도가 높을수록 생육이 양호한 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Mixed Application of Wood Vinegar and Herbicides on Weed Control, Yield and Quality of Rice(Oryza sativa L.)

  • The effect of mixed treatments of wood vinegar and sulfonylurea-based herbicides on weed control, yield and yield components, and quality of rice was investigated. Two herbicides were tested namely: imazosulfuron-ethyl+thiobencarb[ethyl-1-(2-chloroimidazo[1,2-$\alpha$]pyridin-3-ylsulfonyl)-3-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl) urea+S-4-chlorobenzyl diethyl(thiocarbamate)], and bensulfuronmethyl+butachlor [methyl $\alpha$-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-ylcarbamoyl)sulfamoyl]-o-toluate+N-butoxymethyl-2-chloro-2',6'-diethylacetanilide]. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications and 5 treatments. Treatments used were recommended(RH: 100%) and half-recommended(HRH: 50%) application rates of each herbicide. Half-recommended application rates were combined with 1 mL wood vinegar $500mL\;water^{-1}$(500) and 1 mL wood vinegar $1000mL\;water^{-1}$(1000) wood vinegar. Plots for no herbicide treatments were also prepared and used as control. Results showed that wood vinegar significantly increased efficacy of HRH in bensulfuron-methyl+butachlor while high efficacy was already obtained in HRH treatment of imazosulfuron-ethyl+thiobencarb. Wood vinegar did not improve the efficacy of imazosulfuron-ethyl+thiobencarb but improved rice yield. Significantly similar rice yields were obtained in the HRH+1000 WV and RH treatments of both herbicides. There were no significant variations in the yield components among the treatments; however, differences in yield can be attributed to the variations in the spikelet number and ripening ratio. Data on rice quality analysis did not show clear trend on the effects of the treatments on grain appearance and nutritional quality.

목초액의 향균 및 DPPH 라디칼 소거 활성에 관한 연구 (Study of Antimicrobial and DPPH Radical Scavenger Activity of Wood Vinegar)

  • The antimicrobial and antioxidative activities were investigated to confirm the utility of wood vinegar. Antimicrobial activity was performed by paper disc method and liquid culture. The growth inhibition was observed in all microbial species at a dose of as low as 25 $\mu$m of wood vinegar by paper disc method. Also, in liquid culture, S. cerevisiae and P. aeruginosa were more inhibited the growth than others in the concentration of $2\%$ (v/v). For measuring of antioxidative activity, wood vinegar was fractionated with acidic, phenolic, basic and neutral fraction; and their antioxidant activities were measured by the radical scavenging effect on DPPH radical. In four fractions, phenolic fraction showed high antioxidative activity.

  • This study has been carried out to investigate the preservation characteristics and weathering of larch wood treated with wood tar and wood vinegar, neglected under the circumstance of outdoor exposure, buried under ground, and deposited under water. Earlywood cell wall observed by optical microscope has been collapsed due to the fungi deterioration. This phenomenon occurred more frequently in the case of woods treated with wood tar and buried under ground. Relative crystallinity of woods treated with wood tar, exposed outdoors, and untreated wood buried under ground was highest at 63% while wood tar treated wood buried under ground was lowest at 46%.

Termite Resistance of Impregnated Jabon Wood (Anthocephalus Cadamba Miq.) with Combined Impregnant Agents

  • Jabon (Anthocephalus cadamba Miq.) is a fast-growing species that exhibits a lower natural resistance than that exhibited by the timber sourced from natural forests. Jabon's resistance to termite attack can be improved by impregnating its wood structure with poisonous organic materials. This study examined jabon's resistance to termite attack when impregnated with wood vinegar and an animal adhesive. The wood specimens were impregnated using sengon wood vinegar and an animal adhesive (8% and 10%, respectively) using a vacuum pressure machine. The specimens were tested for their resistance to subterranean and dry-wood termites according to Indonesian National Standard (SNI 7207-2014). The results denoted that jabon impregnated with wood vinegar and an animal adhesive concentration of at least 8% with the addition of 4% borate was effective to resist termite attacks. The impregnated jabon exhibited a lower weight loss and higher termite mortality when compared with those exhibited by the control specimens. Thus, the resistance class improved from class IV to class I.
