Implanted telemetry systems provide the ability to monitor different species of animals while they move within their cages. Species monitored include mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, pigs, primates, sheep, horses, cattle, and others. A miniature transmitter implanted in each animal measures one or more parameters. Parameters measured include arterial pressure, intra-pleural pressure, left ventricular pressure, intra-ocular pressure, bladder pressure, ECG, EMG, EEG, EOG, temperature, activity, and other parameters and transmits the data via radio frequency signals to a nearby receiver. Every conventional dedicated transmitter contains one or more sensors, cpu and battery. Due to the expected life of the battery, the measuring time is limited. To overcome these problems, electromagnetic inductive coupling based wireless power transmission technology using multiple transmit coils were proposed, with each coil having a different active area driven by the coil driver. In this research, a parallel resonance based coil driver and serial resonance based coil driver are proposed. From the experiments we see that the parallel coil driver shows better performance under a low impedance and multiple coils configuration. However, the serial coil driver is more efficient for high impedance transmit coils.

This paper considers an application of distributed antenna system (DAS) to a system of intra-vehicle wireless energy transfer (WET). The intra-vehicle WET system has features such as limited mobility of energy receiver, static channel environment and short distance between transmitter and human body. Under these conditions, location of transmitter highly affects the amount of energy received by human body and the energy received by energy receiving devices. We compare centralized antenna system (CAS) and the DAS in intra-vehicle WET system by simulation. The results show the DAS has superior performance to the CAS.

In wireless communications such as Bluetooth, Baseband should be able to minimize the DC bias of the data which passed the modem interface of either transmitter or receiver for the reliability of the circuit and the integrity of the data. The transmitter scrambles the data to send randomly to the error correction block and the receiver recovers the randomly spread data as they have been. To design the whitening block, it is important to select the prime polynomial for the filtering. In this paper, we designed a optimal whitening block using the prime polynomial $g(D)=D^7+D^4+1$ for hardware and area efficiency. The proposed hardware whitening block was described and verified using Verilog HDL and later to be automatically synthesized. The synthesized whitening block operated at 40Mhz normal clock speed of the target baseband microcontroller.

This paper describe a design of 5GHz OFDM baseband chip for IEEE 802.11a wireless LAN. The proposed device is consists of transmitter and receiver within a single FPGA chip. We applied single tap equalizer that use Normalized LMS algorithm to remove ISI that happen at high speed data transmission. And also, we used carrier wave frequency offset algorithm that use training symbol to remove ICI. The simulation results show the correct transmission without errors the between transmitter and receiver And we can remarkably reduce the number of register through the synthesized circuits by using DSP block and EMB(Embedded Memory Block). The target device for implementation of the synthesized circuits is Altera Stratix EPIS25FC672 FPGA and design platform is VHDL.

In this paper, a microstrip bandpass filter(BPF) with 3 dB bandwidth of more than 50 % at center frequency of 30 GHz was implemented. The implemented BPF is to be used as ASK(Amplitude Shift Keying) transmission and reception filters in IF band for THz transmitter and receiver capable of 10 Gb/s wireless data transmission. The microstrip BPF with ultra-wideband characteristics was implemented using a stepped-impedance lowpass filter(LPF) and a composite quarter-wave short stubs where the LPF is functioning as attenuating the upper stopband and quarter-wave short stubs is functioning as attenuating the lower stopband. The measured results are as follows; the insertion loss is 0.65 dB at 30 GHz, the stopband characteristics are -10 dB and -16 dB at 10 GHz and 50 GHz, respectively, and the passband flatness is ${\pm}0.5$ dB at 20~40 GHz.

Next generation wireless communication systems require RF transceivers that enable multiband/multimode operations. Polar transmitters are known as good candidates for high data rate systems such as EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) because they can obtain high efficiency by using efficient switched-mode RF power amplifiers. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a simple peak windowing scheme for the OFDM (Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing) polar transmitter, which requires no change of a receiver structure or no additional information transmission. The approach we employed is to apply the peak windowing scheme to the amplitude modulated signals of the polar transmitter to reduce the PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio). The BER (Bit Error Rate) and EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) performances are measured for various window types and lengths. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm mitigates out-of-band distortion introduced by clipping along with PAPR reduction.
Previous studies have selected wireless power transmission system using 2.45 GHz of ISM band, but the researches for 5.8 GHz microwave wireless power transmission have been relatively rare. The 5.8 GHz has some advantages compared with 2.45 GHz. Those are smaller antenna and smaller integrated system for RFIC. In this paper, the 5.8 GHz wireless power transmission system was developed and transmission efficiency was measured according to the distance. A transmitter sent the amplified microwaves through an antenna amplified by a power amplifier of 1W for 5.8 GHz, and a receiver was converted to DC from RF through a RF-DC Converter. In the 1W 5.8GHz wireless power transmission system, the converted currents and voltages were measured to evaluate transmission efficiency at each distance where LED lights up to 1m. The RF-DC Converter is designed and fabricated by impedance matching using full-wave rectifier circuit. The transmission-efficiency of the system shows from 1.05% at 0cm to 0.095% at 100cm by distance.

Advent of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has provided potentials to a variety of construction applications. It is well appreciated that WSNs have advantages over traditional wired system, such as ease of installation and maintenance with increased cost savings and efficiencies. However, the obstruction of wireless signal from physical objects in the heterogeneous construction environment often brings challenges to WSN measurement system. This paper analyzed the obstruction characteristic of construction environment where construction materials, equipment, and built structures obstruct the wireless signal yielding negative effect of measurement system. By adopting evaluation criteria, such as packet reception rate, field experiments have been implemented to quantitatively identify the interference of wireless signal from penetration, reflection, and network traffic under the construction environment. The results show that reliable performance of wireless sensor in construction environment depends on the optimal separation distance between a receiver and a transmitter, obstruction types, obstruction thickness, and transmission interval. In addition, the methodology and experimental results of this paper could be used in the practical design of network topology when hundreds of sensor nodes form a mesh network in the large scale construction applications.
OFDM Transmission system can effectively reduce ISI(Inter Symbol Interference) caused by multipath fading, especially in the case of broad band data transmission. Nevertheless, the delayed waves existing in a symbol degrade the transmission Performance at the receiver. Therefore when OFDM transmission system applies to mobile radio communication system, we have to remove the influence without intricacy. This paper proposes and design a new scheme in order to estimate propagation characteristics using the characteristics of distinctive OFDM signal which is inserted pilot signal periodically in frequency axis before IFFT at the transmitter Moreover, we introduce a cancellation scheme of delayed signal on the basis of the proposed estimation technique. Using these schemes, it is possible to estimate and cancel the Interference of the delayed signal before FFT at the receiver.
A 1.485-Gbit/s video signal transmission system at carrier frequencies of 240 GHz and 300 GHz was implemented and demonstrated. The radio frequency front-ends are composed of Schottky barrier diode subharmonic mixers (SHMs), frequency triplers, and diagonal horn antennas for the transmitter and receiver. Amplitude shift keying with an intermediate frequency of 5.94 GHz was utilized as the modulation scheme. A 1.485-Gbit/s video signal with a high-definition serial digital interface format was successfully transmitted over a wireless link distance of 4.2 m and displayed on an HDTV with a transmitted average output power of 20 ${\mu}W$ at a 300-GHz system.
