This paper is an analysis of the domestic game users preference for physical interactive game consol-Nintendo Wii. The on-line game is the biggest share in korean game market and the 20's is the laregest generation in domestic game users. We conducted the surveys and group discussion to find out how the 20's game users prefer the new console and new type games. I hope the result of survey will assist the development of new game console and new game type.
For development of physical interactive game recognized as next generation game, this study examines the present situation of physical interactive games and analyzes the problem that game contents lack development compared to the hardware. This paper firstly divides the problem of physical interactive game contents into three parts: demand of the contents and biased game genre, low level of game difficulty, and limited use and/or misuse of the motion controller. Then, the possible solutions for each part are suggested afterward. As the discussion on the development methods in physical interactive game will also develop and therefore, as the next generation game, physical interactive game will play a positive role in th growth of game industry as well as game culture.
This paper researched the possibility of applying FMEA that estimates and eliminates the failure modes into the measurement of tangible game's safety. Tangible game with actuation makes unexpected accidents for the game users. And this article tried to give risk priority number to 2 categories, game device and physical injuries using FMEA method. The result showed that TV and Hand laceration and/or bruise were revealed as the most risky factors among the others. In conclusion, it is suggested that FMEA can present integrated, quantitative and coherent measurement for the safety of tangible game.

Objectives : This study was to investigate the effects on using Virtual reality exercise program($Wii-Fit^{TM}$) for dynamic balance and walking ability in patients with stroke. Methods : The 22 subjects were randomly selected from the patients of the S hospital who met the study conditions. They were divided into a $Wii-Fit^{TM}$ balance game group of 12 patients and a conventional physical therapy group of 10 patients. The $Wii-Fit^{TM}$ balance game group received $Wii-Fit^{TM}$ balance game group general physiotherapy for 5 days a weeks, 30 minutes a day, for a 4 weeks and the conventional physical therapy group received general physiotherapy for the same period. The subjects were measured and compared for Brunel balance assessment, functional gait assessment, 6 minute walk test, GAITRite system before and after the program. Results : The experimental group tend to improve more than control group in shifting the weight to the affected side(p=0.040) and tap test(p<0.001). The experimental group tend to improve more than control group in FGA(p=0.016). The experimental group improved significantly more than control group in 6MWT(p=0.008). The experimental group improved significantly more than control group in gait speed, cadence, stride length. Conclusions : Virtual Reality program($Wii-Fit^{TM}$) with conventional physical therapy shows the benefits on dynamic balance and gait parameters in patients with stroke.

Purpose: This study evaluated the feasibility of using Nintendo Wii games for improving cognition, balance, function in patients with dementia. Methods: A total 30 dementia patients were randomly assigned into the experimental group(n=15) and control group(n=15). All subjects performed a general therapeutic exercise, and 30-minute sessions of the table tennis and fencing game of Nintendo Wii were conducted with experimental group 3 times a week for 8 weeks. The intervention effects were measured by using MMSE-K, BBS, and FIM. The results were analyzed by using repeated measure ANOVA. Results: The MMSE-K and BBS scores showed significant differences. A significant interaction was observed between the experimental group and the control group in MMSE-K. The final MMSE-K and BBS scores for the experimental group were significantly higher than those for the control group. However, there was no difference in the FIM scores. Conclusion: We suggest that Nintendo Wii games are effective in cognㅇition and balance improvement in dementia patients. Future research on a variety of programs in needed.
While many games have been published that are used with input-devices such as a mouse and keyboard, the number of games that can recognize the behavior of a human utilizing devices such as Kinect and Wii has increased. In this paper, we present the development of a baseball game that utilizes a Leap Motion Controller. A Leap Motion Controller recognizes accurately the movement of a user's fingers. Our implemented game consists of characters, a background and animation. It is a moving animated game in which the users play a game in point of view of a third person. The major feature of our game is that the game players can enjoy the game using a Leap Motion Controller.

Designing a user interface is important because the user interface determines the level of physical and mental engagement of the user resulting in their level of learning. This paper investigated how physical engagement through a different user interfaces is associated with fun and learning and presented a theoretical physical engagement model called, PEM, developed based on an empirical user study. The PEM model describes how a game user interface is associated with the level of fun and learning, particularly in playing a full body engaged game. There are many different types of games but the Wii Tennis, an embodied interactive game, was chosen as an instance of full body engaged game. A user study with 32 participant's age ranged from 21 to 40 years old revealed that there is a positive correlation between both fun and learning and the level of physical engagement through two different user interfaces. The results of the study showed that the extent of fun and learning are associated with the physical engagement of the player through an interface. As an implication from the study, the result recommend that the level of user engagement is realized by an effective user interface, and the level of physical engagement is determined by the level of authenticity bridged by the user interface.

Current Serious games for medical treatment and rehabilitation are not usually suitable for actual patients because of the inconvenient user interfaces. The disabled or rehabilitants have limited ability to control the game contents. Therefore, it is very important to develop proper interfaces for such serious games. In this paper, we propose a serious game that utilizes the Nintendo wiimote controller and pattern recognition techniques. We also show the possibility of such contents for the future application to actual rehabilitation.
As more and more advanced technology implemented in Computer Game, various of technical skill must be applied to satisfy the demand of the users specifically in the immersion and convenience of the games. As a result, The number of interactive games, which are controlled by user's physical action so that make the games more immersible, are increasing. In Addition, as the amount of information that happens in the games increases, many studies are going on to provide efficient user-interface. In this study, we develop an interactive game using a controller designed by us, which consist of Wii controller and an attached secondary display that provides game information to user. In addition, we conduct a survey with questions about immersion and convenience of the game to understand how users feel when doing the suggested game, and to compare our game environment with general FPS game environment that uses mouse and keyboard.
