  • When Chinese character used in Korea, so did the characters' pronunciation, so many Korean Chinese characters today have similar pronunciation with Chinese, but since Korean and Chinese pronunciations were preserved and developed in different alphabets, the written letter of the pronunciation also differs. This study on Chinese education, has constructed and implemented an easy way to study Chinese pronunciations by creating conversion rule set between Chinese pronunciation, Chinese Hanyu latin Pinyin and Korean chinese character pronunciation consisting of an initial sound, a medial vowel, and a final consonant. This study has established web version and application version of this conversion rule set education system to enhance Chinese education.

  • This paper describes how to convert the *.mdl design information generated from the UML editor into the corresponding XML data, which is arranged to be saved in the relational database system. Also, various design informations can be referred and modified to make teams collaborate with each other on the web through the web browser. In addition, we provide an environment in which all the project team members can share a lot of source codes and execution files as well as object files produced from a web-based collaborative development environment. This thesis is the study about a navigation tool system that aids software developers in managing their web-based searches for relationships of design information.

  • Experimental and numerical studies of a newly developed Reduced Beam Section (RBS) connection, called Tubular Web RBS connection (TW-RBS) have been recently conducted. This paper presents experimental and numerical results of extending the plastic hinge length on the beam flange to increase energy dissipation of a proposed version of the TW-RBS connection with two pipes, (TW-RBS(II)), made by replacing a part of flat web with two steel tubular web at the desirable location of the beam plastic hinge. Two deep-beam specimens with two pipes are prepared and tested under cyclic loads. Obtained results reveal that the TW-RBS(II) like its type I, increases story drift capacity up to 6% in deep beam much more than that stipulated by the current seismic codes. Based on test results, the proposed TW-RBS(II) helps to dissipate imposed energy up to 30% more than that of the TW-RBS(I) specimens at the same story drift and also reduces demands at the beam-to-column connection up to 30% by increasing plastic hinge length on the beam flange. The TW-RBS(II) specimens are finally simulated using finite element method showing good agreement with experimental results.

  • The objective of this research is to analyze which functions make up web-based as well as mobile social media services and messengers. Services are clustered by their functionality. A total of 640 individual functions were identified, while investigating altogether 44 selected services in their web and mobile versions. Applying content analysis, functions were assigned to the services. The services were ranked by the number of implemented functions, and the functions were ranked by their occurrence in the services. Cluster analysis was applied to classify the services according to their functionality. Facebook and VKontakte were found to be the ones with the most functions; the most frequently implemented functions are support, profile, and account-related. Cluster analysis revealed six classes for mobile and seven classes for web applications. There is a noteworthy difference regarding the functionality scope between web and mobile applications of the same services. An example for this is Mendeley with 38 functions in the mobile and 91 functions in the web version. This is the first empirical attempt at clustering social media services based on their functionality.

  • Eclipse is an open integrated environment for software development, rapidly emerging as the de facto standard for developing java applications. Also, it is easily extensible since new functions for the environment can be added through the installation of various plug-in modules. WebDAV is an IETF standard protocol, which is an extended version of HTTP 1.1, supporting asynchronous collaborative authoring of various contents on the web. In this paper, we describe the development of the DAVSpace plug-in which enables programmers to use remote workspaces offered by WebDAV servers as project workspaces for software development in Eclipse. Based on the WebDAV protocol, DAVSpace supports the management of resources on the remote workspaces associated with projects in Eclipse. Using DAVSpace, we can create a project in Eclipse on a designated remote workspace in addition to the default local workspace. Whenever an event for storing a resource is generated, DAVSpace stores the resource into both workspaces. Thanks to DAVSpace, developers can effectively proceed their projects regardless of where they are located.

  • As Web services cover more and more IT area and the number of their implementation cases increase rapidly, most associates have begun to consider the quality of Web services. They require the framework that helps to evaluate and measure the quality of Web services. OASIS WSQM(Web Services Quality Model) technical committee already published Web Services Quality Model specification version 2.0 in 2006. However, it has been described in conceptually. That is, it contains the model view, classification of quality factors, some activities and associates. So, we need Web services quality description language (WSQDL) shaped in XML. To describe WSQDL schema, we need a new paradigm to represent the Web services quality factors consistently and interoperably. For this we provide the new concept of quality chain in this paper.

  • The popularity of web services within the IT industry continues to grow as the next generation web technologies. Web services are self-contained, self-describing, modular applications that can be published, located, and invoked across the Web. Web services will be core technology for e-business in the Web. IPv6 is sometimes also called the Next Generation Internet Protocol and is a new version of IP which is designed to be an evolutionary step from IPv4. In this paper, we define problems for adapting web services to IPv6 Environment. This paper survey and explain consideration issues that include standards, components, coexistence of IPv6 and IPv4, etc.

  • To support business service interoperability, it is necessary to extend WSDL and develop Business Service Document(BSD) to contain various business service informations. W3C delegates extension of WSDL to the user groups for their usages and objectives. Therefore this article defines BSD, which is extended version of WSDL. This article also presents Business Web Service Framework(BWSF), which supports business service interoperability and uses BSD. BSD Creator is developed to create correct, valid and well-formed BSD which is core component of BWSF. This article is expected to be used as base concepts for industrial adoption of business service interoperability architecture, and it is also expected to contribute for revitalize business service interoperability.

  • We have developed an information management tool for the EDISON (EDucation-research Integration through Simulation On the Net) open platform. EDISON is, at present, a web-based simulation service for education and research in five computational areas, namely, nanophysics, fluid dynamics, chemistry, structural dynamics, and computer aided optimal design. The EDISON open platform consists of three tiers: EDISON application framework, EDISON middleware, and EDISON infra-resources. The platform provides web portals for education and research in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, computational chemistry, computational nanophysics, computational structural dynamics, and computer aided optimal design along with user service. The main purpose of this research is to test the behavior of the release version of the EDISON Open-Platform under normal operating conditions. This management tool has been implemented using the RESTful API designed in EDISON middleware. The intention is to check co-operation between the middleware and the infrastructure. Suggested tools include User management, Simulation and Job management, and Simulation software (i.e., solver) testing. Finally, it is considered meaningful to develop a management tool that is not supported in other web-based online simulation services.

  • We present a new, year 2011 version of the Yonsei Evolutionary Population Synthesis (YEPS 2011) model for simple stellar populations. The standard YEPS employs the most up-to-date Yonsei-Yale stellar evolutionary tracks and the BaSeL flux libraries. The spectro-photometric model data of the entire parameter space are available at http://web.yonsei.ac.kr/cosmic/data/YESP.htm.
