고해상도 레이더용 다중산란점 발생장치의 설계 및 제작 (A Design and Fabrication of Multiple Scattering Points Generator for High Range Resolution Radar)

  • We designed the multiple scattering points generation system to simulate an actual situation of target signal for high range resolution radar system. This provides replicating the target signals and controlling the status of target signals for radar system. This is composed transmit antenna and multi target generator. Transmit antenna is waveguide array antenna and multi target generator has signal distribution module and control & power module. Multi target generator is able to provide the high isolation and variable output power. Moreover, in order to monitor all output signals of the multi target generator, the flows of signals are programed in control & power module. The performance is demonstrated using experimented results of high range resolution radar.

10-Gbit/s Wireless Communication System at 300 GHz

  • A 10-Gbit/s wireless communication system operating at a carrier frequency of 300 GHz is presented. The modulation scheme is amplitude shift keying in incoherent mode with a high intermediate frequency (IF) of 30 GHz and a bandwidth of 20 GHz for transmitting a 10-Gbit/s baseband (BB) data signal. A single sideband transmission is implemented using a waveguide-tapered 270-GHz high-pass filter with a lower sideband rejection of around 60 dB. This paper presents an all-electronic design of a terahertz communication system, including the major modules of the BB and IF band as well as the RF modules. The wireless link shows that, aided by a clock and data recovery circuit, it can receive $2^7$-1 pseudorandom binary sequence data without error at up to 10 Gbit/s for over 1.2 m using collimating lenses, where the transmitted power is 10 ${\mu}W$.

  • 본 논문에서는 X밴드용 고출력 시스템에 적합한 경사진 원형 도파관 구조를 이용한 소형 T $M_{01}$-T $E_{11}$ 모드 변환기를 제안한다. 제안된 모드 변환기는 마이크로파 에너지가 RBWO 전원으로부터 혼 안테나로 효율적으로 전송되도록 파라미터 연구를 통해 최적화된 구조로 설계되었다. 그리고 반사손실, 각 모드의 전력, 임피던스 대역폭, 그리고 모드 패턴의 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정결과를 제시하였다.다.

A New Expression of Near-Field Gain Correction Using Photonic Sensor and Planar Near-Field Measurements

  • We propose a new expression of the near-field gain correction to calculate the on-axis far-field gain from the onaxis near-field gain for a directive antenna. The new expression is represented by transversal vectorial transmitting characteristics of two antennas that are measured by planar near-field equipment. Due to the advantages of the photonic sensor, the utilization of the new expression realizes the measurements of the on-axis far-field gains for two kinds of double ridged waveguide horn antennas within 0.1 dB deviation from 1 GHz to 6 GHz without calibrating the photonic sensor system.

하지정맥류 치료를 위한 균일한 온도 분포를 갖는 도파관 안테나 설계 (Design of Waveguide Antenna with Uniform thermal Distribution for Remedy of Varicose Veins)

  • 본 논문에서는 전자파를 이용한 하지정맥류 치료를 위하여 균일한 온도 분포를 갖는 도파관 안테나를 제안하였다. 제안된 안테나는 일반 도파관 안테나보다 균일한 전계 분포를 가지므로 보다 균일하고 넓은 온도 분포를 갖는다. 제안된 안테나는 도파관 개구부에 파장의 1/4 길이의 철사를 설치하여 전계가 가운데로 몰리지 않도록 설계하였다. 정맥류 치료를 위해, 제안된 안테나를 이용하여 인체와 비슷한 돼지 피부에 적용하여 실험하였고, 이를 통해 보다 균일하게 피부의 온도를 올릴 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다.

Electro-optic Electric Field Sensor Utilizing Ti:LiNbO3 Symmetric Mach-Zehnder Interferometers

  • The use of a $Ti:LiNbO_3$ symmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometric intensity modulator with a push-pull lumped electrode and a plate-type probe antenna to measure an electric field strength is described. The modulator has a small device size of $46{\times}7{\times}1mm$ and operates at a wavelength of $1.3{\mu}m$. The output characteristic of the interferometer shows the modulation depth of 100% and 75%, and $V_{\pi}$ voltage of 6.6 V, and 6.6 V at the 200 Hz and 1 KHz, respectively. The minimum detectable electric field is ~1.84 V/m, ~3.28 V/m, and ~11.6 V/m, corresponding to a dynamic range of about ~22 dB, ~17 dB, and ~6 dB at frequencies of 500 KHz, 1 MHz and 5 MHz, respectively.

  • The analysis of a coaxial cable with periodic slots as a leaky-wave antenna is considered. The mode matching method and method of moments with Galerkin testing procedure is then used to obtain the determinantal equation for the unknown leaky-wave propagating constant. Both technigues allow the fields to be obtained in any region, and the radiation characteristics of the structure. By resorting to a suitable numerical techniques, it is possible to calculate the leaky-wave propagating constants and the radiation patterns. Numerical results demonstrate the validity of the technique.

  • 본 논문에서는 효율적인 전자계 시뮬레이터를 구축하기 위하여 프레임워크를 설계하고 그 효용성을 검토하였다. 특히 여러 대의 네트워크 PC를 이용한 병렬화를 통하여 계산에 이용되는 PC의 수에 비례하여 계산시간이 단축되는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 복잡한 구조를 가진 안테나, 공진기, 도파기 등의 설계 및 해석에 적용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

Vertical Integration of MM-wave MMIC's and MEMS Antennas

  • In this work, we demonstrate a novel compact mechanical beam steering transmitter based on a direct vertical integration of a 2-D MEMS-based mechanical beam steering antenna with a VCO on a single silicon platform. By eliminating the long feed lines and waveguide metal blocks, the radiation pattern has been improved vastly, resulting in an almost ideal pattern at every scan angle. The losses incurred by the feed lines and phase shifters are also eliminated, which allows the transmitter to be implemented using only a single VCO. The system complexity has been greatly reduced with a total module size of only 1.5 cm ${\times}$ 1.5 cm ${\times}$ 0.4 cm. This work demonstrates that RF MEMS can be a key enabling technology for high-level integration.

  • Input filter for satellite communication transponder is the interface between the antenna and the receiver. It is used to provide the selection of the uplink signals with minimum insertion loss and to prevent downlink signals form reaching the LNA. This paper is intended to provide a description of the input filter for KOREASAT communication transponder. Included are description for the electrical and mechanical design and the requirments of environmental test. In expecting the electrical performine the optimum electrical configuration ot meet all requirements are performed. Mechanical requirements are charactersed by several constraints for weight, size of the filter and its type of input output interface. The standardized environmental tests are performed to confirm satisfactory performance of the filter with respect to the requirements of vibration and thermal vacuum shocks.
