  • Recently, Mc(Multi-code) modulation/demodulation(modem) technique has been explored for high speed data transmission in wireless environment. The conventional Mc modem generates some side effects such as allocating Walsh codes, which motivates to propose a novel Mc modem method with sub-code. Our proposed system should expanded the size of sub-code to provide high-rate data transmission, which also affect adversely to the performance of the system with high PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio). Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel pre-coded Multi-Dimensional HCOC(High Capacity Orthogonal Code) Mc modem technique to reduce the high PAPR, which enables the performance improvement. This proposed system can be easily designed by concatenating HCOC Mc modem with the generic Mc modem. The pre-coding technique that is used in this paper is CAC(Constant Amplitude Coding), that helps the system maintain the constant transmission power and reduce the maximum transmission power.

  • The transfer of predictive models using various chemometric techniques has been reported for FTNIR and scanning-grating based NIR instruments with respect relatively dry samples (<10% water). Some of the currently used transfer techniques include slope and bias correction (SBC), direct standardization (DS), piecewise direct standardization (PDS), orthogonal signal correction (OSC), finite impulse transform (FIR) and wavelet transform (WT) and application of neural networks. In a previous study (Greensill et at., 2001) on calibration transfer for wet samples (intact melons) across silicon diode array instrumentation, we reported on the performance of various techniques (SBC, DS, PDS, double window PDS (DWPDS), OSC, FIR, WT, a simple photometric response correction and wavelength interpolative method and a model updating method) in terms of RMSEP and Fearns criterion for comparison of RMSEP. In the current study, we compare these melon transfer results to a similar study employing pairs of spectrometers for non-invasive prediction of soluble solid content of peaches.

  • Let $S(R^d)$ be the Schwartz space of infinitely differentiable functions on $R^d$ which vanish at $\infty$ and $S'(R^d)$ be its dual space. The theory of stochastic differential equations(SDEs) governing processes that takes values in the dual of countably Hilbertian nuclear space such as $S'(R^d)$ studied by many authors(e.g [M],[KM]). Let M be a martingale measure defined by Walsh[W], then M can be considered as a $S'(R^d)$-valued process in a certain condition i.e. M has a version of $S'(R^d)$-valued martingale process. (See [W] for detailed discussion)

  • The classical Fourier analysis, which is the typical frequency domain approach, is used to detect periodic trends that are of the sinusoidal shape in time series data. In this article, using a sequence of periodic step functions, describes an adaptive Fourier series where the patterns may take general periodic shapes that include sinusoidal as a special case. The results, which extend both Fourier analysis and Walsh-Fourier analysis, are applies to investigate the shape of the periodic component. Through the real data, compare the goodness-of-fit of the model using two methods, the adaptive Fourier method which is proposed method in this paper and classical Fourier method.

  • The OGS model is configured and used for simulation of the LASGIT project. The modeling conditions and the simulation results from the previous work by Walsh and Calder (2009) are analyzed to see if the simulation configuration is done correctly and to apply for the LASGIT project. Except for the unrealistic modeling conditions used previously, the simulation results successfully demonstrated helium propagation that is typical for the two-phase flow. The results indicated that the relations of capillary pressure and the relative permeability against water saturation used previously should be updated. An elaborated simulation with more realistic parameters should be used to improve the weak points of preliminary work.

  • Common problems encountered when orthogonal functions are used in system analysis and state estimation are the time consuming process of high order matrix inversion required in finding the Kronecker products and the truncation errors. In this paper, therefore, a method for the analysis of bilinear systems using Walsh, Block pulse, and Haar functions is devised, Then, state estimation of bilinear system is also studied based on single term expansion of orthogonal functions. From the method presented here, when compared to the other conventional methods, we can obtain the results with simpler computation as the number of interval increases, and the results approach the original function faster even at randomly chosen points regardless of the definition of intervals. In addition, this method requires neither the inversion of large matrices on obtaining the expansion coefficients nor the cumbersome procedures in finding Kronecker products. Thus, both the computing time and required memory size can be significantly reduced.

  • We propose a new method to eliminate completely the redundant elements in a CDMA (code division multiple access) mobile system. First, we define multilevel logic operation (MLO), which is a new concept to deal with the multilevel logic signals. We prove that the conventional binary logic concept is a subset of the MLO concept. The multilevel logic signal can be directly controlled by using this MLO in place of the binary operation. We applied the MLO to the CDMA base station modulator (BSM) in order to reduce the hardware complexity. In the case of a 3-sectorized cell, this method helps reduce the complexity down the level of below 1% of the conventional CDMA BSM for spreading and filtering, and to 50% for Walsh covering.

  • The incidence of acute pancreatitis (AP) has increased in the pediatric population over the past few decades and it stands to follow that the complications of severe AP, including symptomatic pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs) will increase as well. In adults, the therapeutic options for this situation have undergone a dramatic evolution from mainly surgical approaches to less invasive endoscopic approaches, mainly endoscopic ultrasound-guided transmural drainage (EUS-TD) followed be direct endoscopic necrosectomy if needed. This has proven safe and effective in adults; however, this approach has not been well studied or reported in pediatric populations. Here we demonstrate that EUS-TD seems to offer a safe, efficacious and minimally invasive approach to the management of large PFCs in pediatric patients by reviewing two representative cases at our institution.

  • This paper presents an algebraic approach to optimal control for time invariant continuous system using STWS(single term Walsh series). In optimal control, it is well known that the design problem with quadratic performance criteria often involves the determination of time-varying feedback gain matrix by solving the matrix nonlinear Riccati equation and of command signal by solving the integral equation, which makes design procedure quite difficult. Therefore, in order to resolve this problem, this paper is introduced to STWS. In this paper, the time-varying feedback gains and command signals are determined by piecewise constant gains which can be easily obtained from algebraic equation using STWS.
