The Properties of High Flowing and Strength Concrete Utilizing Crushed Sand for CFT Structure (부순모래를 사용한 CFT 구조용 고유동.고강도콘크리트의 물성 변화)

  • To investigate the properties of high flowing and high strength concrete with crushed sand and fly ash for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method. In the experiment W/B was set up three levels as 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35. Also the variables of the experiment were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens(3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The effect a substitution ratio of fly ash on the compressive strength was not consistent with age. For twenty-eight day compressive strength, the best result was come out when cement was substituted by 10% of fly ash. 2) The decrease of the water binder ratio, the increase of compressive strength and elastic modulus. Also the relationship is very similar to the case of a normal concrete

Microstructure and Piezoelectric Properties of Low Temperature Sintering PMW-PNN-PZT-BF Ceramics According to PNN Substitution (PNN 치환에 따른 PMW-PNN-PZT-BF 세라믹스의 미세구조와 압전 특성)

  • In this work, [$Pb(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})_{0.03}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_x(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})_{0.97-x}O_3-BiFeO_3$] (x=0.02 to 0.12) composition ceramics were fabricated by the conventional soild state reaction method and their microstructure and piezoelectric properties were investigated according to PNN substitution. The addition of small amount of $BiFeO_3$, $Li_2CO_3$, and $CaCO_3$ were used in order to decrease the sintering temperature of the ceramics. The XRD (x-ray diffraction patterns) of all ceramics exhibited a perovskite structure. The sinterability of PMW-PNN-PZT-BF ceramics was remarkably improved using liquid phase sintering of $CaCO_3$, $Li_2CO_3$. However, it was identified from of the X-ray diffraction patterns that the secondary phase formed in grain boundaries decreased the piezoelectric properties. According to the substitution of PNN, the crystal structure of ceramics is transformed gradually from a tetragonal to rhombohedral phase. The x=0.10 mol PNN-substituted PMW-PNN-PZT-BF ceramics sintered at $920^{\circ}C$ showed the optimum values of piezoelectric constant($d_{33}$), piezoelectric figure of merit($d_{33{\cdot}}g_{33}$), planar piezoelectric coupling coefficient($k_p$) and density : $d_{33}=566$ [pC/N], $g_{33}=29.28[10^{-3}mV/N]$, $d_{33{\cdot}}g_{33}=16.57[pm^2/N]$, $k_p=0.61$, density=7.82 [$g/cm^3$], suitable for duplex ultrasonic sensor application.

  • In this paper, equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) of six mobile phones made by two national companies were measured in order to introduce power limit of mobile phones for national CDMA, PCS and WCDMA applications. The measurement has been conducted in a full anechoic chamber and used antenna substitution method. From the measured results, the measured power of the mobile phones are compared by power limit regulations of mobile phones for USA, Japan and Europe. Finally, we propose power limits of 2 W ERP for CDMA phones, 2 W EIRP for PCS phones, and 2 W EIRP for WCDMA phones, respectively.

Design and Performance Analysis of Environment Friendly Double Core Bullets for Small Arms (친환경 소화기용 탄심 재료 및 2중 구조 설계 분석)

  • This paper focuses on possibility to design and fabrication new combination of bullet core to substitute current toxic material of heavy metal such as lead by environment-friendly ones. The core is designed as dual structure to manipulate the core center of gravity easily by combining materials, which of basis is tungsten of low cost and easily acquired. Those combinations are W-M series such as W-Cu, W-Sn, W-Cu-Sn, and W-Cu-Ni to target the density of lead, $11.34g/cm^3$ through powder-metallurgy. Out of four, combination of W-Cu-Ni shows the highest compression density of 96% and is confirmed as the most suitable substitution for lead due to the excellent property of matter and sintering. All combination samples is simulated on the PRODAS software for designing and structure analysis by adjusting the center of gravity of dual core samples forward and backward. The simulations confirm the similarity of current bullet core with respect to properties of mass, aero dynamics, and flying stability.

  • For the stabilization of the spinel structured $LiMn_2O_4$, a fraction of manganese was substituted with various metals such as Mg, Fe, V, W, Cr, Mo with Mn that had a similar ionic radii ($LiM_xMn_{2-x}O_4(0.05{\leq}x{\leq}0.02)$). The $LiM_xMn_{2-x}O_4$ showed a substantial improvement as lower capacity loss than that of the spinel structured $LiMn_2O_4$ when it was used as a cathode material. And with the partial substitution, the chemical diffusion coefficient for $LiMg_{0.05}Mn_{1.9}O_4$ and $LiCr_{0.1}Mn_{1.9}O_4$ was increased by and order of magnitude compared to that of the $LiMn_2O_4$ with spinel structure. The results showed that significant improvement can be made on the electrochemical characteristics as the structure of the $LiMn_2O_4$ electrode material was stabilized by the partial substitution.

  • This research is a study on the characteristics of OPC-slag cement using nano-silica solution (NSS) with water-weight substitution method. The new replacement method is a fundamental step to study the behavior of cement with higher NSS replacement rates than previous studies. NSS was replaced by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the mixing water weight. As a result, the mechanical and microstructural characteristics were improved. This can be summarized in two ways. First, when the NSS is replaced with mixing water, the homogeneous dispersion action of the nano-silica particles is improved. This promotes initial hydration. Second, substitution of NSS with higher density than mixing water reduces w / b. This forms a dense hydration reaction material. The new substitution method did not show any degradation of mechanical and microstructural properties as compared with the results using the powdered nano-silica particles revealed in the previous study. Therefore, it is considered that the method of weight substitution of NSS used in this study can be applied to the formulation of OPC-slag cement.

  • The nucleophilic substitution reaction of 6-chloro purines (I) with malononitrile and ethyl cyanoacetate is carried out in DMSO and in the presence of an alkali. The possible tautomeric-ylidene form for the products is considered and discussed in view of IR, UV, NMR and mass spectral determinations. The derivatives were tested for their antitumor activities.

Prokaryotic Selectivity, Anti-endotoxic Activity and Protease Stability of Diastereomeric and Enantiomeric Analogs of Human Antimicrobial Peptide LL-37

  • LL-37 is the only antimicrobial peptide (AMP) of the human cathelicidin family. In addition to potent antimicrobial activity, LL-37 is known to have the potential to inhibit lipolysaccharide (LPS)-induced endotoxic effects. To provide the stability to proteolytic digestion and increase prokaryotic selectivity and/or anti-endotoxic activity of two Lys/Trp-substituted 19-meric antimicrobial peptides (a4-W1 and a4-W2) designed from IG-19 (residues 13-31 of LL-37), we synthesized the diastereomeric peptides (a4-W1-D and a4-W2-D) with D-amino acid substitution at positions 3, 7, 10, 13 and 17 of a4-W1 and a4-W2, respectively and the enantiomeric peptides (a4-W1-E and a4-W2-E) composed D-amino acids. The diastereomeric peptides exhibited the best prokaryotic selectivity and effective protease stability, but no or less anti-endotoxic activity. In contrast, the enantiomeric peptides had not only prokaryotic selectivity and anti-endotoxic activity but also protease stability. Our results suggest that the hydrophobicity and ${\alpha}$-helicity of the peptide is important for anti-endotoxic activity. In particular, the enantiomeric peptides showed potent anti-endotoxic and LPS-neutralizing activities comparable to that of LL-37. Taken together, both a4-W1-E and a4-W2-E holds promise as a template for the development of peptide antibiotics for the treatment of endotoxic shock and sepsis.

Estimation of a Lattice Parameter of Sintered Ni-W Alloy Rods by a Neutron Diffraction Method (중성자 회절법에 의한 Ni-W 합금 소결체의 격자상수 측정)

  • Ni-W(1-5 at.%) alloy rods were made by powder metallurgy process including powder mixing, compacting and subsequent sintering. Ni and W powder of appropriate compositions were mixed by a ball milling and isostatically pressed in a rubber mold into a rod. The compacted rods were sintered at $1000^{\circ}C-1150^{\circ}C$ at a reduced atmosphere for densification. The lattice parameters of Ni-W alloys were estimated by a high resolution neutron powder diffractometer. All sintered rods were found to have a face centered cubic structure without any impurity phase, but the diffraction peak locations were linearly shifted with increasing W content. The lattice parameter of a pure Ni rod was $3.5238{\AA}$ which is consistent with the value reported in JCPDS data. The lattice parameter of N-W alloy rods increased by $0.004{\AA}$ for 1 atomic % of W, which indicates the formation of a Ni-W solid solution due to the substitution of nickel atoms by tungsten atoms of larger size.
