고효율 및 소형 스위치모드 라인 트랜스포머 (High Efficiency and Small Size Switch Mode Line Transformer(SMLT))

  • A high-efficiency and small-sized switched-mode line transformer (SMLT) is proposed in this study. The conventional structure of an adapter is composed of line transformer and rectifiers. This structure has a limit in miniaturizing due to low-frequency line transformer. Another structure is composed of power factor correction (PFC) and DC/DC converter. This structure has a limit in reducing volume due to two-stage structure. As the proposed SMLT is composed of an LLC resonant converter, a high-frequency transformer can be adopted to achieve isolation standards and size reduction. This proposed structure has different operation modes in accordance with line input voltage to overcome poor line regulation. In addition, the proposed SMLT is applied to the front of a conventional PFC converter, because the SMLT output voltage is restored to rectified sinusoidal wave by using a full-bridge rectifier in the secondary side. The design of the PFC converter is easy, because the SMLT output voltage is controlled as rectified sinusoidal wave. The validity of the proposed converter is proven through a 350 W prototype.

  • 본 논문에서는 전동기 제정수와 전압 및 전류제한 값에 따른 단상 영구자석 동기전동기의 능력곡선을 분석하였다. 역기전력 상수와 고정자 인덕턴스 및 전압 전류 제한값에 따라 영구자석 동기전동기의 능력곡선이 변하게 되며, 최대토크를 얻을 수 있는 인가전압의 크기 및 위상이 결정된다. 제안한 능력곡선의 분석방법을 통하여 얻은 최대토크에서의 인가전압을 컴퓨터 모의실험으로 검증하였다.

고집적 SRAM Cell의 동작안정화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stability of High Density SRAM Cell))

  • Based on the popular 4-transistor SRAM cell, an analytical expression of the minimum cell ratio was derived by modeling the static read operation. By analyzing the relatively simple expression for the minimum cell ratio, which was derived assuming the ideal transistor characteristics, effects of the changes in supply voltage and process parameters on the minimum cell ratio was predicted, and the minimum power supply voltage for read operation was determined. The results were verified by simulations utilizing the suggested simulation method, which is suitable for monitoring the lower limit of supply voltage for proper cell operation. From the analysis, it was shown that the worst condition for cell operation is low temperature and low supply voltage, and that the operation margin can be effectively improved by reducing the threshold voltage of the cell transistors.

Short-circuit Protection for the Series-Connected Switches in High Voltage Applications

  • This paper presents the development of a short-circuit protection mechanism on a high voltage switch (HVS) board which is built by a series connection of semiconductor switches. The HVS board is able to quickly detect and limit the peak fault current before the signal board triggers off a gate signal. Voltage clamping techniques are used to safely turn off the short-circuit current and to prevent overvoltage of the series-connected switches. The selection method of the main devices and the development of the HVS board are described in detail. Experimental results have demonstrated that the HVS board is capable of withstanding a short-circuit current at a rated voltage of 10kV without a di/dt slowing down inductor. The corresponding short-circuit current is restricted to 125 A within 100 ns and can safely turn off within 120 ns.

Analysis and Implementation of a DC-DC Converter with an Active Snubber

  • This paper presents a soft switching converter to achieve the functions of zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on for the power switches and dc voltage step-up. Two circuit modules are connected in parallel in order to achieve load current sharing and to reduce the size of the transformer core. An active snubber is connected between two transformers in order to absorb the energy stored in the leakage and magnetizing inductances and to limit the voltage stresses across the switches. During the commutation stage of the two complementary switches, the output capacitance of the two switches and the leakage inductance of the transformers are resonant. Thus, the power switches can be turned on under ZVS. No output filter inductor is used in the proposed converter and the voltage stresses of the output diodes is clamped to the output voltage. The circuit configuration, the operation principles and the design considerations are presented. Finally, laboratory experiments with a 340W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

  • This paper presents a new concept of reactive reserve based contingency constrained optimal power flow (RCCOPF) for voltage stability enhancement. This concept is based on the fact that increase in reactive reserves is effective for enhancement of voltage stability margins of post-contingent states, in this paper, the proposed algorithm is applied to voltage stability margin of interface flow. Interface flow limit, in the open access environment, can be a main drawback. RCCOPF for enhancement of interface flow margin is composed of two modules, modified continuation power flow (MCPF) and optimal power flow (OPF). These modules art recursively perform ed until satisfying the required margin of interface flow in the given voltage stability criteria.

  • This paper presents VSCOPF(Votage Stability Constrained Optimal Power Flow) algorithm based on SLP(Successive Linear Programming) to interpret the large scale system. Voltage stability index used to this paper is L index to be presented by function form. The objective function consists of load shedding cost minimization. Voltage stability indicator constraint was incorporated in traditional OPF formulation. as well as the objective function and constraints are linearlized and the optimal problem is performed by SLP(Successive Linear Programming). In this paper, the effect of voltage stability limit constraint is showed in the optimal load curtailment problems. As a result, an optimal solution is calculated to minimize load shedding cost guaranteeing voltage security level. Numerical examples using IEEE 39-bus system is also presented to illustrate the capabilities of the proposed formulation.

  • The large scale industry needs high voltage converters. Therefore series connection of power semiconductor devices is necessary. It is important to prevent a device induced the overvoltage above ratings by proper voltage balancing in the field of IGBT series connection. In addition, the overvoltage induced by a stray inductance has to be limited in the high power circuit. This paper proposes a new gate control scheme which can balance the voltage properly and limit the overshoot by control the slope of collector voltage under series connected IGBT turn-off transient. The propose gate control scheme limits the overvoltage by sensing the collector voltage and controlling the gate signal actively. The new series connected IGBT gate driver is made and its validity is verified by the experimental results for series connected IGBT circuit.

다공성 확산층을 이용한 한계전류형 지르코니아 산소센서 (Limit-current type zirconia oxygen sensor with porous diffusion layer)

  • Simple, small and portable oxygen sensors were fabricated by tape casting technique. Yttria stabilized zirconia containing cordierite ceramics (YSZC) were used as a porous diffused layer of oxygen in pumping cell. Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) solid electrolyte, YSZC porous diffusion layer and heater-patterned ceramic sheets were prepared by co- firing method. Limit current characteristics and the linear relationship of current to oxygen concentration were observed. Viscosity variation of the slurries both YSZ and YSZC showed a similar behavior, but micro pores in the fired sheet were increased with increasing of the cordierite amount. Molecular diffusion was dominated due to the formation of large pores in porous diffusion layer. The plateau range of limit current in porous-type oxygen sensor was narrow than the one of aperture-type oxygen sensor. However limit current curve was appeared in porous-type oxygen sensor even at the lower applied voltage. The plateau range of limit-current was widen as increasing the thickness of porous diffusion layer of the YSZ containing cordierite. Measuring temperature of $600{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ was recommended for limit-current oxygen sensor. Porous diffusion layer-type oxygen sensor showed faster response than the aperture-type one and was stable up to 30 days running without any crack at interface between the layers.

안전소자를 이용한 유도회로의 점화한계 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improved Ignition Limit for Inductive Circuits with Safety Components)

  • This paper describes that the improved effects on the ignition limit are studied by parallel safety components for propane-air 5.25vol.% mixture gas in low voltage inductive circuits. The experimental devices are used in the IEC type spark ignition test apparatus. The improved effects on the ignition limit are respectively obtained as the maximum rising rate of 650%, 1,080% by composing parallel circuits between inductance and safety components (condenser and diode) as compared with disconnecting inductance with the safety components. The more values of inductance the higher improved effects of ignition limit rise. This improving method for the ignition limit is not concerned with the safety components. Diode appears to effect greatly better than condenser. It is considered that the result can be used for not only data for researches and development of intrinsically safe explosion-proof machines which are applied equipment and detectors used in hazardous areas but also for data for its equipment tests.
