  • Built-in voltage in organic light-emitting diodes was studied using modulated photocurrent technique ambient conditions. From the bias voltage-dependent photocurrent, built-in voltage of the device is determined. The applied bias voltage when the magnitude of modulated photo current is zero corresponds to a built-in voltage. Built-in voltage in the device is generated due to a difference of work function of the anode and cathode. A device was made with a structure of anode/$Alq_3$/cathode to study a built-in voltage. ITO and ITO/PEDOT:PSS were used as an anode, and Al and LiF/AI were used as a cathode. It was found that an incorporation of PEDOT:PSS layer between the ITO and $Alq_3$ increases a built-in voltage by about 0.4V. This is consistent to a difference of a highest occupied energy states of ITO and PEDOT:PSS. This implies that a use of PEDOT:PSS layer in anode improves the efficiency of the device because of a lowering of anode barrier height. With a use bilayer cathode system LiF/Al, it was found that the built-in voltage increases as the LiF layer thickness increases in the thickness range of 0~1nm. For 1nm thick LiF layer, there is a lowering of electron barrier by about 0.2eV with respect to an Al-only device. It indicates that a very thin alkaline metal compound LiF lowers an electron barrier height.

  • In this paper, in order to analyze high electrical insulation and cooling performance using mineral oil, the liquid insulating oil was changed in electrode shape and distance between electrodes to compare and analyze electrical characteristics according to equal electric field, quasi-equivalent electric field, and unequal electric field. As a result, the breakdown voltages were 36,875 V and 36,875 V in the form of sphere-sphere and plate-plate electrodes with equal electric fields. The breakdown voltage was 31,475 V in the sphere-plate electrode type, which is a quasi-equilibrium field, and the breakdown voltage was 28,592 V, 27,050 V, and 22,750 V in the needle-needle, sphere-needle, and needle-plate electrode types, which are unequal fields. Through this, it is possible to know the difference in breakdown voltage according to the type of electric field. The more equal the field, the higher the breakdown voltage, and the more unequal field, the lower the breakdown voltage. The difference in insulation breakdown voltage could be seen depending on the type of electric field, the insulation breakdown voltage was higher for the more equal electric field, and the insulation breakdown voltage was lower for the more unequal electric field. Also, it was confirmed that the closer the distance between the electrodes, the higher the insulation breakdown voltage, the higher the insulation breakdown current, and the insulation breakdown voltage and the insulation breakdown current were proportional.

  • A novel programming architecture for antifuse FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) is described. This architecture prevents programming transistors from breakdown which occurs due to high voltage across the transistors during antifuse programming. Extra mask and processes can be avoided using this proposed architecture. To reduce the applied voltage across the terminals of programming transistors, different voltage ranges are supplied to vertical and horizontal tracks; between programming voltage Vp and Vp/2 for vertical tracks and between Vp/2 and 0V for horizontal tracks. Therefore, Maximum voltage across the programming transistors is half of the programming voltage and an designated antifuse can be programmed by applying maximum voltage for vertical track and minimum voltage for horizontal track while others are subjected to voltage difference below Vp/2.

  • Built-in voltage in ITO/$Alq_3$/ Al organic light-emitting diodes was studied by varying a thickness of $Alq_3$ layer using modulated photocurrent technique at ambient condition. A thickness of the $Alq_3$ layer was varied from 100 to 250 nm. From the bias voltage-dependent photocurrent, built-in voltage of the device was able to be determined. The obtained built-in voltage is about 0.8 V irrespective of the $Alq_3$ layer thickness in the device. This value of built-in voltage confirms that the built-in voltage is generated due to a difference of work function of the anode and cathode. The $Alq_3$ layer thickness independent built-in voltage indicates that the built-in electric field in the device is uniform across the organic layer.

  • In this paper, a low-voltage CMOS squarer and a four-quadrant analog multiplier are presented. It is based on a source-coupled pair and a scaled-floating voltage generator which are modified to work as a voltage squaring and a sum/difference circuits. The proposed squarer/multiplier have been simulated with HSPICE, where -3㏈ bandwidth of 10MHz is achieved. The power consumption is about 0.6㎽, from a ${\pm}$1.5V supply, and the total harmonic distortion is less than 0.7%, with a 1.2V peak-to-peak 1MHz input signal.

  • The photocharge voltage technique is based on the measurement of a small electrical potential difference which appears on any solid body when subject to illumunation by a modulated laser light beam. This voltage is proportional to the induced change in the surface electrical charge and is nondestructively measured on various materials such as conductors, semicinductors and dielectrics. In this paper, photocharge voltage on conductors, semiconductors and dielectrics are measured nondestructively using a capacitative coupling. The test structures and the validity of this system to characterize the surface properties for soled materials are shown.

  • In this paper, space voltage vector pulsewidth modulation for 2-phase inverter is proposed. When this method is appled to 2-phase induction motor, the phase difference of voltage between phase A and B is fixed at $90^{\circ}$and amplitude of voltage of phase Ais same with that of phase B. This method have advantages over low-power servo system because this is simple method comparing to 3-phase space vector method which requires d-q transform.

  • Cable voltage was measured simultaneously at Hamada, Japan and Pusan, Korea, using an inservice telephone cable from March to December 1990. The spectral and harmonic analyses of these data sets show that tidal signals are dominant, and that tidal constituents $M_2$ and $O_1$, which are not affected by solar geomagnetic variations, have almost the same amplitude and are of opposite phase to each other. comparing the voltage difference in 1990 with that measured using the now abandoned cable in 1998, there are dominant tidal signals at the same periods in both data sets. They have approximately the same amplitude and phase for $M_2andO_1$. The relationship between the observed voltage and the volume transport through the Korea Strait can be considered robust and stable over time. The conversion factor from voltage to transport is estimated to be $11.9{\times}10^6m^3S^{-1}volt^{-1}$ by comparing the amplitude of model-derived $M_2$ tidal transport with that of the voltage difference in 1998. This value changes to $8.6{\times}10^6m^3S^{-1}volt^{-1}$ when taking into consideration the horizontal electric current effect. This effect depends on the downstream length scale of the flow. To obtain a more reliable and stable conversion factor from voltage to transport, the voltage should be compared with observed sub-tidal transports, which may have long downstream length scales.

  • In this paper, a design of bias circuit in temperature independent voltage detect circuit is proposed. In order to realize this intention, we are used the differences in temperature coefficient of thermal voltage, resistor and transistor forward voltage(V$\sub$BE/) which is consisted in comparator. That is, It is realized by compensating the difference of temperature coefficient due to using components with each different temperature coefficient. As well, reference voltage of the circuit is accomplished by the difference of transistor forward voltage($\Delta$V$\sub$BE/) in comparator. In using reference voltage, resistor and V$\sub$BE/ Multiplier, we can design detect voltage of the circuit. In order to test operation of proposing circuit, we manufactured IC. Then, we measured operating characteristics and capability of the circuit by using HP4145B and temperature chamber. The result, we could obtain the good variation of temperature from -0.01 %/$^{\circ}C$ to -0.025 %/$^{\circ}C$.

  • Recently, much research has been done and many improvements have been developed for islanding protection of distributed generation(DG). Anti-islanding protection for DG must be act very quickly to prevent equipment damage at the time of disconnection and for the safety of maintenance and repair personnel. DG-based detection methods have included both passive and active types, and now research has shifted towards new anti-islanding detection methods that make up for the defects of the previous types. Because differences occur between the utility grid and the DG when connecting and disconnecting depending on the phase difference, voltage, current, relative capacity of electric power, and system operation characteristics, voltage phase angle is an important consideration. In this paper, we simulated islanded operation characteristics comparing phase difference of DG and the connected utility grid, and analyzed various parameters (real power, reactive power, RMS voltage, RMS current, power factor angle, and frequency) by varying the DG's voltage phase angle. Using this information, we propose a suitable DG voltage phase angle for enhanced passive islanding detection techniques.
