Purpose: The purpose of this study was an accurate grasp of the astigmatic change due to eyes accommodation on near vision and suggested problems occurring accommodative astigmatism using near glasses. Methods: 154 subjects(308eyes) from 20 to 40 years selected for this study who had many opportunity of near vision. First, far vision corrective refraction measured using the phoropter, and then both eyes opened simultaneously for maintaining the function of binocular put away dot chart 40 cm. One eye was fogging and the other eye measured near vision astigmatism axis and degrees astigmatism using cross cylinder, and then compared with far astigmatism. Results: Increased degree of astigmatism persons on near vision more than decreased or did not changed degree of astigmatism persons, which could affect visual acuity more than 0.75 diopters in 30 eyes with an increase of 9.7% of total subjects. Direct astigmatism and oblique astigmatism were increased on near vision. Astigmatic axes were rotated base in direction on both eyes and 66.9% of subjects were more than ${\pm}$5$^{\circ}$ rotation. Due to the rotation axis of astigmatism, residual astigmatism is expected to occur and expect to adversely affect the eyes. Conclusions: Long-term using the glasses without correction of increased astigmatic and rotated axis on near vision should occur new residual astigmatism and increase the asthenopia also. Considered to be taken astigmatic change on near vision during near refraction examination.
Purpose: Three-dimensional (3D) displays are very useful in many fields, but induce physical discomforts in some people. This study is to assess symptom type and severity of asthenopia with their habitual distance corrective spectacle (HDCS) and their binocular vision corrective spectacle lenses (BVCSL) in people who feel physical discomforts. Methods: 35 adult subjects (ages $32.2{\pm}4.4$ yrs) were pre-screened out of 98 individuals to have the highest symptom/asthenopia scores following 65 minutes of 3D television viewing with HDCS. These 35 individuals were then retested symptom/asthenopia scores during they watched 3D television for 65 minutes at a distance of 2.7 m with wearing BVCSL of horizontal, vertical or base down yoked prisms. A 4-point symptom-rating scale questionnaire (0=no symptom and 3=severe) was used to assess 11 symptoms (e.g., blur, diplopia, etc.) related to visual fatigue/visual discomfort. Distance and near lateral phoria were measured using Howell phoria card and vertical phoria were measured using Maddox rod. Symptoms induced by watching 3D TV were compared between wearing HDCS and BVCSL. Results: Asthenopia in watching 3D TV with wearing BVCS was significantly lower than wearing HDCS at 5, 25, 45, and 65 minutes (all p < 0.001, paired t-tests). In only refractive error power correction power group, all asthenopia was not significantly different between HDCS and BVCSL (all $p{\geq}0.05$, paired t-tests). In prism correction groups for binocular imbalance, symptoms of asthenopia, however, was significantly lower for when wearing BVCSL than when wearing HDCS (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: Correction of phoria/vergence-based binocular vision imbalance can reduce asthenopia during 3D television viewing. An individual with binocular vision imbalance need corrected/compensated glasses with appropriate prisms prior to prolonged viewing of 3D television displays to reduce asthenopia/visual fatigue.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to investigate the stereoacuity and subjective symptoms of aniseikonia with prescription of the size lens. Methods: Participants were myopic anisometropia patients with the binocular refraction difference between 1.75 D~3.50 D. Inclusion criteria of participants were no ocular pathology, no amblyopia, more than 1.0 of corrected visual acuity. With fully corrected spectacles and a correction with the size lens, Awaya aniseikonia test and Randot Stereo test were conducted respectively. In addition, subjective symptoms were also examined using questionnaire. Results: As the anisometropia increased, the aniseikonia increased. Under the anisometropia with same refractive correction was different for each individual. The prescription of size lens caused less aniseikonia than the general prescription of glasses. In addition, prescription of the size lens improved stereoacuity and relieved the symptoms of asthenopia. Conclusions: The prescription of size lens that can correct aniseikonia with prescription of glasses can improve stereoacuity and reduced asthenopia.
Purpose: To purpose of this study was the pure-tone audimetry changes to compare pre and post fogging after visual correction in normally hearing adults. Methods: The estimated that no ocular and audiolar disesases, we selected (male: 30, female: 20) in corrected visual acuity over the 1.0 eye. Pre and post fogging were measured using the pure-tone audimetry. Results: To compared fre and post fogging, fre fogging was higher than fre fogging. The take value were just about every kind of Hz but 200 Hz, respectively which were statistically significant (p<.05). Low Hz area in 250 and 500 Hz were 6.8${\pm}$8.4dBHL, 4.3${\pm}$6.6dBHL, there is not all the difference between any other area, 2000 Hz in the middle Hz area was 0.8${\pm}$4.5dBHL. Conclusions: The study presents different results of measurements in within normal limits. we thought that pure-tone thresholds to the pre and post fogging after refractive correction in normal adults and would be used basic data.
This study is concerned with an assistive technology which reduces color blinds´s confusion when they access electronic documents including color objects in their computers. In this study, 1 restrict the assistive technology would apply to windows operating system, 256 color mode and implement to minimize color distortion which occurs in multi window environments because of color approximation process. As a basic palette, I use a 216 colors web safe palette which the Christine proposed as a standard for color blind, expand it to 256 colors to apply all computer displays using Microsoft Windows as its operating system and implement it as windows application. To test its effectiveness, I use a simulator for dichromats, as results of the test, the developed color vision deficiency correction S/W is effective to reduce the confusion. It is more effective to use the implemented S/W in both of design and client process for electronic documents.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to measure and evaluate changes of visual responses in viewing a 2D and 3D (three-dimensional) image. Methods: The subjects were 44 college students aged 19 to 25 years with normal binocular vision. The visual responses measured were CA/C (convergence accommodation/convergence) ratio, convergence-induced PD(interpupillary distance), accommodative responses, perceived distance in viewing a 3D image. Results: Convergence and accommodative responses in viewing the 3D image were significantly larger (p<0.05) than in 2D. A moderate positive correction was found between CA/C ratio and accommodative response (r = 0.477, p = 0.001). It was indicated that smaller PD had larger depth perception. Convergence in viewing the 3D image was significantly larger (p<0.05) than that at cognitive distance. Conclusions: The visual fatigue may be more intense in larger CA/C ratio and smaller PD when viewing 3D images.
The purpose of this study was to determine the legibility distance for traffic road sign and traffic sign, fixation duration and number of fixation during the time of recognition of traffic road signs under different vision conditions. This experiment was conducted on a closed-road circuit which has realistic driving road and environment Each participant drove the real vehicle for the experiment and specially built traffic road sign for the experiment and traffic road signs on the side of closed-road circuit were used. Different vision conditions were simulated using spectacle lenses to reach visual acuity 1.0 and 0.8 and it was 1.2 without spectacles and each participant tested under 3 vision conditions.. The result of this study demonstrated that there was a significant difference on legibility distance between visual acuity of 1.2 and 0.8 and there were also significant difference on fixation duration and number of fixations with smaller traffic signs. This study demonstrated the importance of vision correction for driving at night-time, also showed there would be difference on legibility distance and efficiency of eye movement such as fixation duration and number of fixation despite of satisfied visual acuity for driver's license requirement.

To determine the accurate height, it should be considered geometric height difference obtained by levelling as well as the physical height difference what so called orthometric correction. The orthometric correction amount is small enough to ignore at flatland but the amount is big at high mountains, so it should be considered to obtain accurate height at high mountains. But the calculation process is difficult and complex, not easy to calculate. So, to make the process easy using a user-friendly visual, a orthometric correction calculation program Ortho-Calc. v1.0 was developed in this study. This program was adopted the algorithm of Nassar and Hwang & Hsiao, and Strang Van Hees and it could be to selectivily calculate the correction amount. The inspection result exhibited high accuracy with the standard deviation of 0.024mm by the comparison of previous study. Therefore, This program Ortho-Calc. v1.0 developed in this study, will contribute orthometric correction calculation quickly and easily. And, if this program is widely popular, it could be expected to make a contribution the Benchmark's official height renewal using orthometric correction.
In this paper, we propose FPGA design technique for rotating LED display device which is capable of displaying videos with the use of the afterimage effect. The proposed technique is made up of image data correction process based on inverse gamma correction and error diffusion, block interleaving process, and data serial output process. The data correction process based on inverse gamma correction and error diffusion is an image data correction step in which image data received are corrected by inverse gamma correction process to convert the data into linear brightness characteristics, and by error diffusion process to reduce the brightness reduction phenomenon in low-gray-level which is caused by inverse gamma correction. In the block interleaving process, the data of the frames entered transversely are first saved in accordance with entrance order, and then only the longitudinal image data are read. The data serial output process is applied to convert the parallel data in a rotating location into serial data and send them to LED Driver IC, in order to send data which will be displayed on high-speedy rotating LED Bar. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed FPGA design technique, this paper used XC6SLX45-FG484, a Spartan 6 family of Xilinx, as FPGA, and ISE 14.5 as a design tool. According to the evaluation analysis, it was found that goal values were consistent with simulation values in terms of accurate operation of inverse gamma and error diffusion correction, block interleaving operation, and serialized operation of image data.

Contrast enhancement plays an important role in various computer vision systems, since their usability can be improved with visibility enhancement of the images affected by weather and lighting conditions. This paper introduces a histogram modification algorithm that reflects the properties of original images in order to eliminate the saturation effect and washed-out of image details due to the over-enhancement. Our method modifies the original histogram so that an additive term fill histogram pits and the gamma correction suppresses histogram spikes. The parameters for the additive term and gamma correction are adjusted automatically according to statistical properties of the images. Experimental results for various low contrast and hazy images demonstrate that the proposed contrast enhancement improves visibility and reduces haze components effectively, while preserving the characteristics of original images, than the conventional methods.
