차세대 자동차 본넷용 친환경 경량화 자연섬유 복합재 구조 설계 (Structural Design of Light Weight Natural Fiber Composites for Next Generation Automobile Bonnet)

  • 본 연구에서는 차량용 본넷의 구조 설계 및 해석을 수행하였다. 구조 설계를 위해 아마/비닐 에스테르 복합재료가 적용되었다. 아마 섬유 복합재 본넷의 제조공법은 VARTML(Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding-Light) 제조공법이 적용하였다. VARTML 공법은 한쪽 면은 견고한 금형을 사용하고 다른 면은 진공과 함께 유연한 금형을 사용하여 압력차를 이용하여 내부에 적층된 섬유에 수지를 신속하게 함침 시켜 성형하는 방법이다. 아마/비닐 에스테르 패널로 부터 시편을 가공하여 재료의 기계적 물성치를 획득하기 위한 시편 시험을 수행하였다. 이를 기반으로 자동차 본넷의 구조 설계를 수행하였다.

  • 폴리머 혼화제로서 styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR)라텍스, ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA)에멀젼 및 polyacrylic ester(PAE)에멀젼을 사용하여 동일한 스럼프에서 폴리머-시멘트비를 변화시켜 공시체를 제조하여, 압축과 휨강도시험, 흡수시험, 세공분포측정 및 미세구조 관찰 등을 실시하였다. 그 결과 폴리머-시멘트비의 증가와 더불어 압축과 휨강도 모두 향상되었고, 동해에 큰 영향을 주는 모세관 공극범위의 세공량은 감소되었으며, 폴리머 시멘트비 15wt% 이상에서 연속적인 폴리머필름이 형성되었다.

  • 5-헥실-2-노보넨 (HNB)과 5-메틸에스터-2-노보넨 (MES-NB)을 양이온 ${\eta}^3$-알릴 팔라듐 촉매인 [(${\eta}^3$-allyl) palladium(tricyclohexylphosphine) trifluoroacetate]와 리튬계 조촉매 [lithium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl( borate${\cdor}$2.5etherate]를 사용하여 비닐 부가형의 폴리노보넨 공중합체를 합성하였다. 에스터기를 과량 함유한 폴리노보넨을 제조하기 위한 최적 중합 조건을 조사하기 위하여 여러가지 중합조건에 따른 분자량변화와 수율의 변화를 알아보았다. 팔라듐 촉매의 함량이 많을수록 수득율은 증가하는 한편, 분자량은 감소하였으며, 리튬조촉매의 함량은 많을수록 분자량과 수득율이 동시에 증가하였다. 사슬이동체를 이용하여 분자량을 조절할 수 있었고, 사슬이동제의 길이가 긴 1-데센과 1-옥텐이 1-헥센보다 분자량을 더 감소시키는 역할을 하였다. 한편 사슬이동제의 양은 수율에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. HNB/MES-NB(투입비 40/60 mol%)의 공종합체의 $^1$H-NMR 과 GPC 분석으로부터, 실제 에스터 함유량으 약 25mol%인 고분자량 (M$_{w}$ : 270,000)의 폴리노보넨 공중합체가 얻어짐을 알 수 있었다.

  • 1-octanethiol and vinyl acetate telomers ($R_8S$-nVAc) were synthesized and hydrolyzed with sodium hydroxide subsequently, 1.2-epoxyhexane was then introduced to the telomers. In addition, we prepared cotelomers of multi-alkylated nonionic surfactants with a molecular structure of xRnMA-yVA (x; hydrophobic group, y; hydrophilic group, MA; methacrylic ester, VA; vinyl alcohol, R; and alkyl group) and cross-linked with sodium tetraborate decahydrate. Their active surface properties were investigated by several techniques such as surface tension, foaming property, and emulsification power measurements. The surface tension of $R_8S$-8.8VA decreased without the introduction of 1.2-Epoxy hexane, and the degree of emulsification and foaming abilities of $R_8S$-8.8VA increased without the introduction of 1.2-Epoxy hexane. However, the differences were insignificant. The epoxy groups were attached to a $R_8S$-8.8VA cotelomer with a limited variation of the active surface properties. The surface tension of $1.1R_6MA$-8.8VA decreased after cross-linking subsequently, the degree of emulsification and foaming abilities of $1.1R_6MA$-8.8VA increased after cross-linking. However, there was no clear difference between them. The B-O bonds were attached to a $1.1R_6MA$-8.8VA cotelomer with a limited variation of the active surface properties.

Aging Effect of Poly(vinyl alcohol) Membranes Crosslinked with Poly(acrylic acid-co-maleic acid)

  • Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes crosslinked with poly(acrylic acid-co-maleic acid) (PAM) were prepared to investigate the effect of aging on their morphology by swelling them for up to 7 days. PAM was used both as a crosslinking agent and as a donor of the hydrophilic-COOH group. A $30 wt\%$ weight loss of the dry membrane was observed in the swelling test after 6 days. The surface of the membrane was dramatically changed after the swelling test. The surface roughness of the PVA/PAM membrane was increased, as determined by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The swelling loosened the polymer structure, due to the release of the unreacted polymer and the decomposition of the ester bond, thereby resulting in an increase in the free volume capable of containing water molecules. The water molecules present in the form of free water were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The fraction of free water increased with increasing swelling time. The swelling of the membrane may provide space for the transport of protons and increase the mobility of the protonic charge carriers. The proton conductivity of the membranes measured at T= 30 and $50^{\circ}C$ was in the range of $10^{-3} to 10^{-2} S/cm$, and slightly increased with increasing swelling time and temperature.

  • Palladium(II) 촉매를 이용한 norobornene carboxylic acid estsers의 중합 시 단량체의 알킬 작용기의 종류, endo/exo 비율이 촉매의 활성도 및 중합 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. Norbornene esters 단량체는 5-norborene-2-carboxylic acid와 다양한 알코올을 반응시켜 합성하였다. 중합 촉매로는 di-$\mu$-chloro-bis(-methoxybicyclo[2,2,1]-hept-2-ene)palladium(II)(DCBMP)를 합성하여 사용하였고, 짝음이온으로 실버 헥사플루오로안티모네이트($AgSbF_6$)를 이용하였다. 고분자의 분석을 위해 젤 투과 크로마토그래피(gel permeation chromatography, GPC), 열 중량 분석법(thermogravimetric analysis, TGA), 시차주사 열량측정법(differential scanning calorimetry, DSC), 화학구조 분석을 위해 $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy를 이용하였다. 분자량 분석 결과 모든 작용기의 경우 endo-이성체의 비율이 exo-이성체의 비율보다 높을 경우 촉매의 구조적 방해로 인하여 반응성이 감소됨을 보였다. 또한 단량체와 촉매의 비율이 중합 거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 단량체와 촉매의 몰비율을 100:1, 200:1, 300:1로 변화시켜 실험을 진행하였으며, 이 때 exo-norbornene carboxylic acid octyl ester의 경우 300:1 촉매비에서 필름형성이 가능한 높은 분자량($M_n=27500g/mol$)의 고분자를 합성할 수 있었다.

Immobilization of Lipase on Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Ionic Liquid

  • A lipase from Pseudomonas cepacia was immobilized onto single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in two different ways in each of two solvent systems (buffer and ionic liquid). The most efficient immobilization was achieved in ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, BMIM-$BF_4$). In this procedure, carbon nanotubes were first functionalized noncovalently with 1-pyrenebutyric acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester and then subject to the coupling reaction with the lipase in ionic liquid. The resulting immobilized enzyme displayed the highest activity in the transesterification of 1-phenylethyl alcohol in the presence of vinyl acetate in toluene.

Design and Manufacturing of Natural Composite Chemical Container Tank Using Resin Flow Simulation

  • In this study, an investigation on mechanical properties of flax natural fiber composite is performed as a precedent study on the design of eco-friendly structure using flax natural fiber composite. The Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding-Light (VARTML) manufacturing method is adopted for manufacturing the flax fiber composite panel. The VARTML is a manufacturing process that the resin is injected into the dry layered-up fibers enclosed by a rigid mold tool under vacuum. In this work, the resin flow analysis of VARTM manufacturing method is performed. A series of flax composite panels are manufactured, and several kinds of specimens cut out from the panels are tested to obtain mechanical performance data. Based on this, structural design of chemical storage tank for agricultural vehicle was performed using flax/vinyl ester. After structural design and analysis, the resin flow analysis of VARTM manufacturing method was performed.

폴리머-시멘트 모르타르의 미세구조 동결융합 저항성의 관계 (The Relationship between Microstructure and Freezing Thawing Resistance of Polymer-Cement Mortars)

  • In order to investigate the relationship between pore size distribution and freezing-thawing resistance of mortars, polymer-cement mortars were prepared by using styrene-butadiene rubber latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate emulsion and polyacrylic ester emulsion with various polymer-cement ratios at constant flow. From the results of the test, polymer-cement mortars had a good pore size distribution for freezing-thawing resistance compared with unmodified mortars because of having a small pore volume in the pore radius range of 103~104 $\AA$ affecting on the frost damage. And the freezing-thawing resistance of polymer-cement mortars was improved with increasing polymer-cement ratio.
