  • In this work, an active hybrid mount using piezostack actuator and rubber element is manufactured, and its vibration control performance is evaluated via feedforward control. A hybrid active mount featuring inertia type of piezostack actuator is proposed and manufactured. After describing the configuration of the hybrid mount, a mount system is then constructed. To attenuate vibrations from vibration sources, a feedfoward controller is experimentally implemented to the system. Vibration control performances are evaluated at each mount. Effective control performances such as accelerations are obtained and presented in frequency domains.

  • In this paper, a novel vibration control scheme for a single-link flexible manipulator system without using a vibration feedback sensor is proposed. In order to achieve the vibration information of the flexible link, a reaction moment estimator based on the dynamic characteristics of the flexible manipulator is proposed. While the manipulator is maneuvering the reaction moment is reciprocally acting on the flexible link and the hub inertia due to the vibration of the link. A sliding mode controller based on the equivalent rigid body dynamics corresponding to the proposed flexible manipulator is then augmented with the reaction moment estimator to realize a decentralized control system. The reaction moment estimator is implemented via the first order low pass filter. The performance of the proposed control scheme is verified by computer simulation and experiment.

  • The purpose of this paper was to identify the mechanism that caused abnormal vibration and noise on the piping system connected to discharge flow of BFP(Boiler Feed water Pump) in a coal fired power plant, and to develop the device that can reduce the level of abnormal vibration and noise. Major results of this project can be summarized as follows: First, we analyzed the acoustic mode for the discharge piping of BFP to trace a path of the noise, and assumed that noise and vibration on the piping system can be related with length of pipe. Second, a minimized model of the piping system was set up to simulate abnormal vibration and noise within the specific range of operating frequencies, and as a result we confirmed that the acoustic mode affected the piping system considerably. Finally the test device which can reduce the level of abnormal noise and vibration was built to verify validity applying for the piping system. Then we concluded that the noise and vibration generated from the piping system was attributed to the acoustic resonance in piping system, and so developed new device which can reduce the level of noise and vibration under 40%.   • The road traffic noise has emerged major noise as the overcrowding of the urban population and the explosion of car storage capacity. There are limits for establishing the measures to meet noise standard because of the increase of high-rise building and insufficient distance between residential areas and road in urban center areas. Therefore, this study analyze the problem of the application of national road noise standard, and present the alternatives to achieve environmental standards in conjunction with the soundproofing measures. To reduce the population ratio exposed to road noise on seoul motorway, we suggest some action plane are as follows: i) Roadside noise standard of nighttime beside daytime is the first noise reduction goals ii) Noise standard of Noise and vibration control act is priority in case of existing area iii) Noise standard of basic environmental policy act is priority in case of new area.

  • Noise reduction has become a major issue of the duct air-conditioners. This paper describes the reduction of noise and vibration of rotational slim duct system. The design of slim duct system is the most important point of noise reduction in terms of the motor of 2f line noise, resonance noise between forced frequency and natural frequency of Sirocco fan, unbalance noise of motor axis and the noise induced refrigerant. The noise of duct system is mainly measured from diffuser and bottom of duct. The optimal design was implemented after measuring the effect of noise and vibration in each part which is composed of duct system. In this paper, experimental results show that the main elements in air-conditioner duct design. These elements are anti-vibration rubber of motor, axis length of motor, rubber coupler, materials of sirocco fan and control method of motor which are the most vital factors in reducing noise.

  • This paper is concerned with the active vibration control of washing machine. To this end, a new control algorithm utilizing an acceleration signal as a sensor signal is newly developed based on the principle of a dynamic absorber. The resulting control algorithm was implemented digitally on the DSP board. The accelerometer and the active linear actuator were used as sensor and actuator for the active vibration control of washing machine. Experimental results show that the proposed control algorithm can be effectively used for a controller which uses an accelerometer.

  • Recently, a severe noise problem was encountered during a shop test of large scale vertical motor. In order to identify the noise characteristics and propose the countermeasure, a variety of experiments such as sound excitation test and contribution analysis was earned out in addition to ordinary noise and vibration measurements. The results showed that the severe noise level was dominated by an acoustic resonance phenonmenon in the cooler housing and higher sound power of outer fan. Through proper treatments, the noise level could be acceptable.

DOB-based piezoelectric vibration control for stiffened plate considering accelerometer measurement noise

  • This paper presents a composite control strategy for the active suppression of vibration due to the unknown disturbances, such as external excitation, harmonic effects and control spillover, as well as high-frequency accelerometer measurement noise in the all-clamped stiffened plate. The proposed composite control action based on the modal approach, consists of two contributions including feedback part and feedforward part. The feedback part is the well-known PID controller, which is widely used to increase the structure damping and improve its dynamic performance close to the resonance frequencies. In order to get better performance for vibration suppression, the weight matrixes is optimized by chaos sequence. Then an improved disturbance observer (IDOB) as the feedforward compensation part is developed to enhance the vibration suppression performance of PID under various disturbances and uncertainties. The proposed IDOB can simultaneously estimate the various disturbances dynamically as well as measurement noise acting on the system and suppress them by feedforward compensation design. A rigorous analysis is also given to show why the IDOB can effectively suppress the unknown disturbances and measurement noise. In order to verify the proposed composite control algorithm (IDOB-PID), the dSPACE real-time simulation platform is used and an experimental platform for the all-clamped stiffened plate active vibration control system is set up. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness, practicality and strong anti-disturbances ability of the proposed control strategy.
