Effects of Global Capabilities of Small and Medium Businesses on Their Competitive Advantage and Business Management Performances

  • This paper categorized Korean small and medium businesses' global capabilities based on the preceding studies about the global capabilities and then, examined how their global capabilities would affect their competitive advantages and business management performances. As a result of testing the research model, it was found that the small and medium businesses' global capabilities had some significant effects on their competitive advantage (p<.001). On the other hand, the global capabilities had some positive effects on the business management performances and the mediating effects were significant (p>.05), which means that the competitive advantage has some mediating effects on the correlation between the global capabilities and the business management performances. Accordingly it was possible to analyze the correlation between global capabilities of small and medium businesses and their competitive advantage and thereby, provide for an opportunity to shift the paradigm of the global competition strategies.

  • The purpose of this study was to survey and analyse the technical information flow and the status of information use of end user in the venture capital. The survey by questionnaire was used to collect data for the study and the SPSS program was used for analysiso of descriptive statistics. As the results of the study, the researchers of the venture capital thought that their research activities were important for the improvement of their company. They also suggested their opinion that the technical information was essential on research activities. The researchers wanted the manpower to take charge of gathering and managing technical information.

  • The government aims at promoting the national growth and heightening efficiency through the creativity economy. This study focus on the effectiveness(difference of the tax bearance) of tax-aid system(tax-reduction and tax-deduction) for the venture firms and small & medium firms. Sampling of this study was collected through what had been recorded to the enterprise information service of Korcham(venture firms), DB of Small & Medium Business Administration Authority from 2010 to 2012, and opened information of the KOSDAQ Association. The results were as follows. Firstly, There exists differences in the tax bearance rate between the tax-aided corporation and the tax-nonaided corporation through venture firms and small & medium firms. Secondly, Venture firms were investigated to bear low tax-bearance rate in contrast to Small & Medium Firms. The results of this study shows that the national tax-aided system is effective, and can be led to another new politics alternatives.

  • In an extended enterprise, there is a shift to shared services, cosourcing and outsourcing, and extending out to partners, suppliers, and customers to accomplish business objectives more effectively. Along with this critical need, executives should be aware of the need to focus on optimizing the value of their information technology and reducing the related risks. So IT governance is critical, and many companies including spin-off venture are providing IT governance solution, but very little is known about brand management and marketing strategy of IT governance solution provider. The purpose of this study is to investigate brand positioning of IT governance solution company focusing on spin-off venture. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, brand management is needed in the spin-off venture. second, IT governance solution companies including spin-off venture must provide something more than functional value. That is, they actively seek to emotional or symbolic value for their customers.

  • In this paper, we tries to investigate whether there are some differences of the characteristics between venture business in the metropolitan area and in the local area. We set up some hypotheses on the regional characteristics of venture business and test those using the raw data of Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) survey on the management of venture business. Our main findings are as follows: First, we analyze the industrial composition of ventures by region and find that in the metropolitan area high-technology venture business which is belong to software, or information, or communication industries is given much weight. But in the provinces, ventures belong to traditional manufacturing industries is given much weight. Second, we compared the characteristics of business network by region and find that the ventures in the metropolitan area are active in technical cooperation among companies and want strategic tie-ups in marketing field, whereas the ventures in the provinces are active in technical cooperation with university and want strategic tie-ups in technical development field. Third, ventures in the metropolitan area are more excellent in technical development and management than ventures in the provinces.

  • At the 21th century management environment with the emotion and creativity, as design has recognized the core element of management strategy, the combination of design and management, design management, has been increased the importance worldwidely. In the rapid changing enterprise environment, the small or venture enterprises in flexible management environment than the large enterprise have advantage on management process. The design management has created the various field of knowledge in the integrated solution, the integrated approach methods of management are the effective operative process in the importance of design management. As CEOs in small/venture enterprise take part in the innovation of design management, a specialistes in recognition of specificity and design management are defined and created the design management process through the enterprise resource planning programs. With the understanding on the above situation, the purpose of this study is to suggest the design is strategically applied in the management level of Daejeon region small/venture enterprises and the recognition of design management as a strengthen the competitiveness.

  • To understand the basic information on the management and utilization of reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.), four cultivars of Palaton. Venture, Castor and Frontier (control) were compared for growth characteristics, dry matter (DM) yield and nutritive value, 1990 to 1992. The reed canarygrass was harvested four times annually, at soiling stage. The average plant height at harvest was 60 cm in Frontier, 57 cm in Palaton and Venture, and 52 cm in Castor. Initial heading and heading date in 1990 were ca. 21 May and 29 May, respectively, regardless of cultivar. The highest yield (12.495 kg/ha) in 1990 was observed by Frontier. In 1991. Palaton. Venture and Frontier outyielded Castor significantly, and the yields of all cultivars in 1992 were not significant, ranged from 11,460 kg (Castor) to 12,298 kg/ha (Palaton). On an average for three years, Palaton (10,592 kg), Venturc (10,405 kg) and Frontier (1 1,277 kg/ha) produced more forages than Castor. In Frontier the percentage of DM distribution at first harvest (spring) was highest (32.4%). However, the distributions at third (summer) and fourth (autumn) harvest were high in Palaton and Venture, compared with Frontier. The nutritive value of reed canarygrass was not significantly different among cultivars, and the percentage of weeds was slightly high in Castor reed canarygrass.

  • Venture capital invests the necessary capital and supports management and technology in promising small and medium-sized venture companies in the early stages of start-up with promising technology and excellent manpower. It plays a role as a key player in the venture ecosystem that realizes profits by collecting the investment through various means after growth. Venture capital's job is to recruit various investors(LPs) to invest in small and medium-sized venture companies with growth potential through the formation of venture investment funds, and to collect investment as companies grow, distribute and reinvest. The main tasks of venture capitalists, which play the most important role in venture investment, are finding promising companies, corporate analysis and evaluation, investment screening, follow-up management, and investment recovery. Venture capital's success indicators are fund formation and return on investment, and venture capitalists are rewarded with annual salary, performance-based incentive, and promotion with work performance such as investment, exit, and fund formation. Compared to the recent rapidly growing venture investment market, investment manpower is insufficient, and venture capital is making great efforts to foster manpower and establish infrastructure and systems for long-term service, but research has been conducted mainly from a quantitative perspective. Accordingly, this study aims to empirically analyzed the impact of investment experience, delegation of authority, job fit, and peer relationships on fund formation and return on investment according to the characteristics of the venture capital industry. The results of these empirical studies suggested that future venture capital needs a job environment and manpower operation strategy so that venture capitalists with high job fit and investment experience can work for a long time.

  • The concept of license sales and its business model, which was introduced by Dolby 40 years ago, was implemented by Intel in the form of their promotional strategy "Intel Inside" and became the basis for Sharp's Plasmacluster. This strategy proved to be useful in securing stable profitability and competitiveness in the market, as it is designed to (i) license technology, which is an intangible asset, and (ii) combine various communication activities and management strategies to create a brand for the licensed technology. Although the concept and theory of "Technology Brand Marketing" are not fully understood, we know that they exist and are fully functional. Many corporations have branded their technology, though their intention may not be as clear as that of Dolby or Intel. This paper introduces the technology brands of advanced Japanese corporations in different sectors that have striven to earn credibility through "Technology Brand Marketing" and the possibilities this has opened up for them.
