  • This study identified convergent validity and discriminant validity of measurement variables by factor analysis using Spss program and tested covariance measurement model including latent variables such as the website attributes (interactivity, search and visual information of website), shopping values(utilitarian and hedonic value) and attitude toward website by AMOS program. The data were collected from a sample of 271 internet shopper of university students(male: 82, female: 189). They visited the website for apparel shopping and, after searching a casual clothing which they wanted to buy, requested to answer the questionnaire. The results were as follows: Variables that reduce validity were deleted in the several steps of factor analysis and initial measurement model testing. Final measurement model was constructed by valid variables was accepted. This measurement model will be input for testing causal research model that can explain how attributes of the website influences on consumer attitude toward the website.

  • The dynamic characteristics of two types of mathematical models for a rigid body suspension system are analyzed and compared in this paper. One is a linearized model which is commonly used in the engine mount system analysis, the other is a nonlinear model which usually applied to the pendulum type system. The typical 3 d.o.f's mathematical model, for convenience, is chosen as a simulation model, because it has fundamental dynamic characteristics of suspension system. Time responses and unbalance responses of the rigid body, transmitted forces and torques are simulated by using the mathematical model. From the results of computer simulation, it is approved that he nonlinear model is valid and the linearized model gives erroneous results in the case of the pendulum type suspension system. In addition, in this study the effects of design change on the dynamic characteristics of the suspension system are investigated. Mount locations, mount angles, lengths, stiffness and damping coefficients of suspension bars are chosen as design parameters.

  • SBN (Structure-Borne Noise) reduction in resiliently mounted machineries are predicted by using mass-spring model and wave model. In mass-spring model, mount is modeled as a spring, while in wave model, mount is considered as an equivalent elastic rod for taking account into longitudinal wave propagation. The predictions for SBN reduction through mounts are compared to the measurements for four different pumps. It is found that the mass-spring model is valid only in low frequency range below few hundred Hz, while for high frequency ranges longitudinal wave propagation in the mount must be considered to explain the measurements. It is also shown that impedance of the floor slightly affects low frequency behaviour in mass-spring and wave model below 50 Hz - 80 Hz, so that in engineering practice the effect of floor impedance may be neglected in computing mount performance.

  • Variable precision rough set models have been successfully applied to problems whose domains are discrete values. However, there are many situations where discrete data is not available. When it comes to the problems with interval values, no variable precision rough set model has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a variable precision rough set model for interval values in which classification errors are allowed in determining if two intervals are same. To build the model, we define equivalence class, upper approximation, lower approximation, and boundary region. Then, we check if each of 11 characteristics on approximation that works in Pawlak's rough set model is valid for the proposed model or not.

  • This paper analyzes death counts after World War II of several countries to identify and to compare their stochastic structures. The stochastic structures that this paper entertains are three structural time series models, a local level with a random walk model, a fixed local linear trend model and a local linear trend model. The structural time series models assume that a time series can be formulated directly with the unobserved components such as trend, slope, seasonal, cycle and daily effect. Random effect of each unobserved component is characterized by its own stochastic structure and a distribution of its irregular component. The structural time series models use the Kalman filter to estimate unknown parameters of a stochastic model, to predict future data, and to do filtering data. This paper identifies the best-fitted stochastic model for three types of death counts (Female, Male and Total) of each country. Two diagnostic procedures are used to check the validity of fitted models. Three criteria, AIC, BIC and SSPE are used to select the best-fitted valid stochastic model for each type of death counts of each country.

  • This study describe the brief history and current statutes of Philippine arbitration. The practice of arbitration in the Philippines can be traced as far back as the barangay. From 1521, Spanish Civil Code became effective in the Philippines. During this period, the Supreme court was discouraged by the tendency of some courts to nullify arbitration clauses on the ground that the clauses ousted the judiciary of its jurisdiction. According to the growing need for a law regulating arbitration in general was acknowledged when Republic Act No.876(1953), otherwise known as the Arbitration Law, was passed. In 1958, the Philippines became a signatory to the New York Convention and in 1967 the said Convention was ratified. But no legislation has been passed. As a consequence, foreign arbitral awards have sometimes been deemed only presumptively valid, rather than conclusively valid. Fifty years after, the Philippine Congress enacted, Republic Act No. 9285, otherwise know as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act of 2004. The enactment was the Philippines solution to making arbitration an efficient and effective method specially for international arbitration. To keep pace with the developments in international trade, ADR Act of 2004 also ensured that international commercial arbitration would be governed by the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Arbitration and also fortified the use and purpose of the New York Convention by specifically mandating. If the international commercial arbitration will be revitalization in the near future in the Philippine, it will be shown that the model law's comprehensive provisions will give the beat framework for arbitration.. The writer expect that Philippines continues in its effort to be the premier site for international arbitration in Southeast Asia.

  • Corrective thermal performance analysis is required for power plants' turbine cycles to determine the performance status of the cycle and improve the economic operation of the power plant. We developed a sectional classification method for the main feed-water flow to make precise corrections for the performance analysis based on the Performance Test Code (PTC) of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The method was developed for the estimation of the turbine cycle performance in a classified section. The classification is based on feature identification of the correlation status of the main feed-water flow measurements. We also developed predictive algorithms for the corrected main feed-water through a Kernel Regression (KR) model for each classified feature area. The method was compared with estimation using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The feature classification and predictive model provided more practical and reliable methods for the corrective thermal performance analysis of a turbine cycle.

  • Although, recently, studies on Internet banking users' behavior have been frequently found in some academic journals, most of them have ignored security anxiety which may be considered as important factors influencing usages of Internet banking. We propose an research model for Internet banking users which is an extended version of the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) by adding new variable, security anxiety. For empirical support of our model, we survey for 298 samples and analyze it by structured equation model(SEM). In result, our proposed model is proved as a valid one in which all hypotheses except one are accepted and the values of model fitness are relatively high.

  • This paper is very exploratory and addresses the issue 'Is a general quality model of software possible?'. If possible, how specific can/should it be?' ISO 25000 Series SQuaRE is generally regarded as a general quality model which can be applied to most kinds of software. Usability is one of the 8 characteristics of SQuaRE's Product Quality Model. It is the main issue associated with SQuaRE's Quality in Use Model too. it is the most important concept associated software quality since using is the only ultimate goal of software products. Playability, however, is generally regarded as a special type of usability, which can be applied to game software. This common idea contradicts with the idea that SQuaRE is valid for most kinds, at least many kinds, of software. The empirical evidences of this paper show that SQuaRE is too specific to be a general quality model of software.

  • Using accurate MOSFET substrate parameters obtained by a RF direct extraction method, it is demonstrated that a BSIM4 model with only substrate resistances is not physically valid to apply in the wide range of gate length because of scaling inaccuracy. In order to remove the unphysical problem of the BSIM4, a modified BSIM4 model with additional dielectric substrate capacitance is used and its physical validity is verified by observing excellent gate length scalability.
