Control of Graphene's Electrical Properties by Chemical Doping Methods

  • This study examined the synthesis of large area graphene and the change of its characteristics depending on the ratio of CH4/H2 by using the thermal CVD methods and performed the experiments to control the electron-hole conduction and Dirac-point of graphene by using chemical doping methods. Firstly, with regard to the characteristics of the large area graphene depending on the ratio of CH4/H2, hydrophobic characteristics of the graphene changed to hydrophilic characteristics as the ratio of CH4/H2 reduces. The angle of contact also increased to 78$^{\circ}$ from 58$^{\circ}$. According to the results of Raman spectroscopy showing the degree of defect, the ratio of I(D)/I(G) increases to 0.42% from 0.25% and the surface resistance also increased to 950 ${\Omega}$ from 750 ${\Omega}$/sq. As for the graphene synthesis at the high temperature of 1,000$^{\circ}$ by using CH4/H2 in a Cu-Foil, the possibility of graphene formation was determined as a function of the ratio of H2 included in the fixed quantity of CH4 as per specifications of every equipment. It was observed that the excessive amount of H2 prevented graphene from forming, as extra H-atoms and molecules activated the reaction to C-bond of graphene. Secondly, in the experiment for the electron-hole conduction and the Dirac-point of graphene using the chemical doping method, the shift of Dirac-point and the change in the electron-hole conduction were observed for both the N-type (PEI) and the P-type (Diazonium) dopings. The ID-VG results show that, for the N-type (PEI) doped graphene, Dirac-point shifted to the left (-voltage direction) by 90V at an hour and by 130 V at 2 hours respectively, compared to the pristine graphene. Carrier mobility was also reduced by 1,600 cm2/Vs (1 hour) and 1,100 cm2/Vs (2 hours), compared to the maximum hole mobility of the pristine graphene.

Comparative analysis of two methods of laser induced boron isotopes separation

  • Natural boron consists of two stable isotopes 10B and 11B with natural abundance of 18.8 atom percent of 10B and 81.2 atom percent of 11B. The thermal neutron absorption cross-section for 10B and 11B are 3837 barn and 0.005 barn respectively. 10B enriched specific compounds are used for control rods and as a reactor coolant additives. In this work 2 methods for boron enrichment were analysed: 1) Gas irradiation in static conditions. Dissociation occurs due to multiphoton absorption by specific isotopes in appropriately tuned laser field. IR shifted laser pulses are usually used in combination with increasing the laser intensity also improves selectivity up to some degree. In order to prevent recombination of dissociated molecules BCl3 is mixed with H2S 2) SILARC method. Advantages of this method: a) Gas cooling is helpful to split and shrink boron isotopes absorption bands. In order to achieve better selectivity BCl3 gas has to be substantially rarefied (~0.01%-5%) in mixture with carrier gas. b) Laser intensity is lower than in the first method. Some preliminary calculations of dissociation and recombination with carrier gas molecules energetics for both methods will be demonstrated Boron separation in SILARC method can be represented as multistage process: 1) Mixture of BCl3 with carrier gas is putted in reservoir 2) Gas overcooling due to expansion through Laval nozzle 3) IR multiphoton absorption by gas irradiated by specifically tuned laser field with subsequent gradual gas condensation in outlet chamber It is planned to develop software which includes these stages. This software will rely on the following available software based on quantum molecular dynamics in external quantized field: 1) WavePacket: Each particle is treated semiclassicaly based on Wigner transform method 2) Turbomole: It is based on local density methods like density of functional methods (DFT) and its improvement- coupled clusters approach (CC) to take into account quantum correlation. These models will be used to extract information concerning kinetic coefficients, and their dependence on applied external field. Information on radiative corrections to equation of state induced by laser field which take into account possible phase transition (or crossover?) can be also revealed. This mixed phase equation of state with quantum corrections will be further used in hydrodynamical simulations. Moreover results of these hydrodynamical simulations can be compared with results of CFD calculations. The first reasonable question to ask before starting the CFD simulations is whether turbulent effects are significant or not, and how to model turbulence? The questions of laser beam parameters and outlet chamber geometry which are most optimal to make all gas volume irradiated is also discussed. Relationship between enrichment factor and stagnation pressure and temperature based on experimental data is also reported.

민속마을 초가집의 방염에 의한 화재확산방지 (Fire Spreading Prevention of Straw-roofing House in Folk Village by Flame Resistant Treatment)

  • 본 논문에서는 방염에 의한 초가지붕과 목재구조에 대한 화재 예방대책을 고찰하였다. 초가지붕 재료인 볏짚에 함침시간을 달리하여 방염처리를 한 후 물에 침수시켜 세척한 후에도 방염성능을 유지하는지 확인하였다. 목재는 방염처리 방법에 따른 방염효과를 비교분석하기 위하여 상압함침법과 진공가압법, 붓칠 등의 방법으로 방염처리 하였다. 볏짚의 방염성능은 콘 히터를 이용하여 착화지연시간을 측정하였으며 목재의 방염성능은 45도 연소시험과 콘 히터 실험을 통해 실험하였다. 실험 결과 특수 가연물인 볏짚의 경우 방염처리한 볏짚의 착화지연시간이 처리되지 않은 것보다 훨씬 길게 나타났으며 방염처리 후 물에 침수시켜 세척한 경우에도 처리되지 않은 시료에 비하여 착화지연시간이 길게 나타나 방염성능을 유지하는 것으로 나타났다. 목재의 경우 진공가압법으로 방염처리한 시료의 방염효과가 가장 우수하였고 붓칠이나 상압함침한 경우에도 처리하지 않은 것보다 착화지연시간이 길게 나타나 화재 확산 예방에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • ZnO:Al 박막은 산소 압력을 조절한 두 번의 증착 과정을 이용하여, DC 펄스 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법에 의해 증착되었다. 시드막은 다양한 Ar/$O_2$ 압력비에서 증착되었으며, 벌크막은 순수한 Ar가스를 사용하여 증착되었다. 시드막 증착시 산소 압력이 증가함에 따라, 결정성과 (002) 배향성의 정도는 증가했다. 비저항은 시드가 없는 샘플의 경우 $4.7\times10^4\Omega{\cdot}cm$ cm로부터 Ar/$O_2$ = 9/1 샘플의 경우 $3.7\times10^4\Omega{\cdot}cm$까지, 결정성의 증가와 함께 점차 감소했다. 에칭된 표면은 분화구 형상의 구조를 보여주었으며, 급격한 형상 변화가 결정성 증가와 함께 나타났다. Ar/$O_2$= 9/1 조건의 샘플은 500 nm 에서 88%의 매우 높은 haze 수치를 보여주었으며, 이는 AFM 이미지에서 보여지는 것처럼 큰 표면 구조 크기에 의해 설명된다.

위생캔으로 제조한 감주 음료의 품질 평가와 금속물질 함량에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Quality Evaluation and Metal Content of Sanitary Canned Kamju Beverage)

  • In order to improve the quality of Kamju(sikhae), Korean traditional sweat fermentated rice drink, Kamju made with laboratory fermenting from both covered barley malt and that added to commercial $\alpha-amylase$ and commercial sikhae can were investigated and analyzed ad follows 1. The amylase activities in L-malt(laboraory made malt), C-malt(commercial malt) were 25,065 units, 20,498 units at $60^{\circ}C$ and when heating at $60^{\circ}C$ for one hour their heat stability was getting lower and while at $70^{\circ}C$ after 2 hours both their heat stability was under 21%. 2. The external appearance, of all samples, in beating test, flipper, springer and leaker test were excellent and good valued. On the open test of sample can, head space was 7.9~9.0mm, net weight 247~250g, 432~435g, pH 4.96-5.76, Brix 13.2~14.0 and vacuum degree was 29~35cmHg. 3. The sucrose content of sample 1~5 was 8,57~10.01% highest ammount than sample 6(0.91%) 7(0.43%) and maltose content of sample 1~5 was 0.65~1.41% lower than 6 was 7.91% and 7 was 8,36%. The good traditional flavor texture and saccharides components content of glucose of sample 1~5 was 1.09~1.51, 6(3.86%), 7(3.97%), fructose content of sample 1~5 was 0.45~0.95%, 6(2.76%), 7(2.81%), maltotriose and raffinose of sample 1~5 were 0.04~0.291, 6(0.61%), 7(2.81%), and solid content of sample 1~5(3.1~3.8) was lower than 6(10.25%), 7(10.09%). 4. The result of sensory test as measured as lemone yellow of sample 6 and milky of sample 7, and weetness, flavor, color, traditional texture and sensory value for sample 1~5(3.1~3.8) was lower degree than that for 6(4.5), 7(4.0). 5. Among the heavy metals analyzed from sample cans, tin, iron and lead content for sample 1~5 were 31.95~36.71ppm, 5.84~6.39ppm and 0.075~0.09ppm while their content of sample 6.7, tin, 32.91ppm, 32.87ppm, iron 5.51ppm, 5.41ppm and lead, 0.074ppm, 0.079ppm.

참가자미의 저장 중 오염미생물 Staphylococcus aureus와 Escherichia coli의 생육에 미치는 Chitosanascorbate의 영향 (Inhibitory Effects of Chitosanascorbate on Growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli Contaminated in Flounder during Storage)

  • 참가자미의 저장 중 오염미생물(total aerobacter, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli)의 생육에 미치는 0.1% chitosan-ascorbate (CA) 의 영향을 조사하였다. 참가자미는 아가미를 제거한것(OG)과 제거하지 않은 것(WG), 건조도를 0%(0 D), 20% 건조(20 D), 40% 건조(40 D)로 구분하였으며 처리 후 진공 포장하여 $5^{\circ}C$에서 10일간 저장하였다. 저장중 총호기성 균수(log CFU/g)는 OG가 WG에 비하여 0.29-0.44 log cycle이 낮았다. S. aureus(log CFU/g)는 CA처리구가 무처리에 비하여 0.13-0.14 log cycle이 억제되었으며, E. coli에서도 0.3-0.43 log cycle이 낮았다. 0 D, 20 D 및 40 D를 비교한 결과, total aerobacter, S. aureus 및 E. coli 모두 20D에서 가장 낮았으며 total aerobacter의 경우는 생것에 비하여 0.13-0.53 log cycle이 억제되었다. 건조도 20 D의 CA처리는 무처리에 비하여 0.13-0.53이 억제되었다. 40 D에서도 CA 처리는 무처리에 비하여 0.3-0.88 log cycle이 감소되었다. 참가자미로부터 분리한 S. aureus의 배양액에 CA를 첨가한 결과 세포가 붕괴되어 사멸해가는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 배양초기와 중기(3-6 hr)에 CA의 첨가는 생육을 68-90% 억제하였으나 배양후기(24 hr)에는 46%가 억제되었다. E. coli에서는 배양초기와 중기(3-6 hr)에는 75-96%가 억제되었으며, 배양후기에는 54%가 억제되었다. 본 연구에서 CA는 E. coli와 S. aureus 모두를 저해하지만 E. coli의 생육이 더 크게 저해되었다.

Electrical Switching Characteristics of Ge1Se1Te2 Chalcogenide Thin Film for Phase Change Memory

  • The changes of the electrical conductivity in chalcogenide amorphous semiconductors, $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$, have been studied. A phase change random access memory (PRAM) device without an access transistor is successfully fabricated with the $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$-phase-change resistor, which has much higher electrical resistivity than $Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}$ and its electric resistivity can be varied by the factor of $10^5$ times, relating with the degree of crystallization. 100 nm thick $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ thin film was formed by vacuum deposition at $1.5{\times}10^{-5}$ Torr. The static mode switching (DC test) is tested for the $100\;{\mu}m-sized$ $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ PRAM device. In the first sweep, the amorphous $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ thin film showed a high resistance state at low voltage region. However, when it reached to the threshold voltage, $V_{th}$, the electrical resistance of device was drastically reduced through the formation of an electrically conducting path. The pulsed mode switching of the $20{\mu}m-sized$ $Ge_{1}Se_{1}Te_{2}$ PRAM device showed that the reset of device was done with a 80 ns-8.6 V pulse and the set of device was done with a 200 ns-4.3 V pulse.

Engineering Geological Characteristics of Freeze-Thaw Weathered Gneiss in the Wonju Area, Korea

  • We present the results of an experimental physical weathering study that focuses on fresh and slightly weathered gneiss samples from the Wonju area of Korea. The study investigated changes in the physico-mechanical properties of these samples during accelerated laboratory-based weathering, including analyses of microfracture formation. The deteriorated samples used in the study were subjected to 100-150 freeze-thaw cycles, with index properties and microfracture geometries measured between each cycle. Each complete freeze-thaw cycle lasted 24 hours, and consisted of 2 hours of saturation in a vacuum chamber, 8 hours of freezing at $-21^{\circ}C{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, and 14 hours of thawing at room temperature. Specific gravity and seismic velocity values were negatively correlated with the number of freeze-thaw cycles, whereas absorption values tended to increase. The amount of deterioration of the rock samples was dependent on the degree of weathering of the rock prior to the start of the analysis. Absorption, specific gravity, and seismic velocity values can be used to infer the amount of physical weathering experienced by a gneiss in the study area. The sizes and density of microfracture in the rock specimens varied with the number of freeze-thaw cycles. We found that box fractal dimensions can be used to quantify the formation and propagation of microfracture in the samples. In addition, these box fractal dimensions can be used as a weathering index for the mid-and long-term prediction of rock weathering. The present results indicate that accelerated-weathering analysis can provide a detailed overview of the weathering characteristics of deteriorated rocks.

원자력발전소 복수기 수실 차단밸브 설치 영향 평가 (Evaluation the Impact of Installing a Isolation Valve on Condensate System of Nuclear Power Plan)

  • 원자력발전소의 순환수 계통 해수배관에 차단밸브가 설치되어 있지 않을 경우 복수기 내부 세관(튜브)에서 해수 누설 등의 이상 발생시, 정비 및 보수를 위해 최소한 순환수 펌프 1대를 정지하여야 하며, 최악의 경우에는 발전정지를 하여야 한다. 그러나 순환수 계통 해수배관에 차단밸브를 설치할 경우, 복수기 이상 발생 시 병열로 연결된 복수기의 해당 수실만 차단 가능함으로 발전소 출력 손실을 최소화 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 원자력발전소 순환수 계통의 복수기 수실에 차단밸브를 설치할 경우, 순환수 계통의 유량변화, 계통의 구조적 건전성, 복수기 진공도에의 영향을 평가하였다. 평가결과, 복수기 수실 차단밸브 설치에 따른 유량은 밸브 완전 개방시 0.3% 감소하며, 완전 잠금시에는 4.5% 감소하였다. 또한 유량감소에 따라 복수기 진공도는 떨어지나 계통의 건전성은 유지됨을 알았다.

  • 탈취온도를 상이하게 처리한 옥수수기름들로부터 정유성분을 추출하여 이의 favor 성분을 GC로 분리 정량하였다. Flavor성분으로는 8종의 aldehydes를 포함하여 총 16종이 검출되었으며, 주요 flavor성분은 propane, pentane, hexanal 등으로 이는 전체의 70~75%를 차지하였다. 탈취온도가 상승할수록 ethane 및 8종의 propane, pentane, hexane, octane, pentyl furna 함량은 뚜렷한 감소현상을 나타내었다. 한편, 총 flavor 성분함량은 245$^{\circ}C$ 처리군에서 가장 낮아 특이성을 나타내었으며, 탈취온도의 상승에 따라 aldehydes 함량이 비례적으로 증가하였는데, 이는 탈취과정 중 stripping steam, 진공도 등의 영향으로 인한 부분인 자동산화, 분해, 중합, 가수분해 등의 부반응에 기인하는 것으로 사료된다. 따라서, 이취물질의 극소화를 위하여는 지나친 고온탈취를 억제하는 것이 바람직하다는 결론을 얻었다.
