  • This paper describes the electrical design, characteristic and test results of both VVVF Inverter system and a auxiliary power supply system for UTM-01. As the propulsion system for SLIMs, GTO type VVVF inverter is used. IGBT 3 level inverter is adopt in Auxiliary Power Supply system. The control of two systems is fully digitalized by DSP TMS320C31. So a performance of two systems is more improved.

  • In this paper, it is suggested that instantaneous compensation PWM control for inverter without the smoothing capacitor Therefore, this inverter system has several advantages. It has small volume and low price to manufacture, decrease trouble rate of inverter, and has power factor correction effect because huge smoothing capacitor-less. And it has compact size control circuit to use analog integrator device. It could make the smoothing capacitor-less inverter for air-blower motor by using the instantaneous compensation PWM controller. This inverter system has small volume and value compare with the conventional VVVF control inverter.

  • In this paper, full bridge inverter with IGBT is proposed. By Controlling phase angle difference between 2 arms, PWM controlled high frequency link inverter has VVVF capability. For the simplicity, flexibility and compactness of control circuit, 16 bit single chip microcontroller 8797 BH is used and its characteristic is examined through experiment.

  • This purpose of this paper is to perform the readhesion control algorithm of the urban railway traction. A study on readhesion control algorithm is done for the adhesion system. This system has all characteristics of the voltage source converter by a process ability to regenerate power. The traction motor is controlled by IGBT inverter. The test equipment composes traction motor, torque-meter, clutch, and a tubular type of interia mass.

  • This paper describes the characteristics of two methods about providing information needed for propulsion device control in train. The one is to use new way using the communication network for transmission of control information, the other is traditional way using hardwire connection. And this paper describes the communication interface technique between TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System) and VVVF inverter system with LonWorks network adapted to SMG line 6 which has been developed. With this technique, an inertia load test carried out for the traction control environment and it is expecting a field test at SMG line 6.

  • The Auxiliary Inverter supply the power to Loads of Electric Locomotive. The Auxiliary Inverter have three characteristics. First, The Auxiliary Inverter is VVVF(variable voltage variable frequency) inverter. And, the output voltage is AC $0^{\sim}440V$. Second, The Auxiliary Inverter is controled all operations by CCU(Center Control Unit). Last, The Auxiliary Inverter have the SIBMON program. This program easily displays most of all status of auxiliary inverter.

  • This test is performed to reduce slip/slide which are generated from VVVF inverter. when the adhesive force between wheel and rail is not ensured, slip/slide are mainly originated. In this paper, we carried out real test adopting acceleration changes to find optimized method minimizing the amount of generation of slip/slide. Through this real test, we obtained optimum result on reducing slip/slide and especially focused on decrease in slip. This method is currently applied to real train.

  • In general, the parallel-connected linear induction motors(LIM) are fed by one VVVF inverter in the magnetically levitated vehicle(MAGLEV) or linear motor subway drives. The air gap length of the parallel-connected linear induction motors operating at a grade or curved sections can be different each other. The air gap difference of the two motors attached to the same module causes unequal phase currents, asymmetic thrust and attraction force generation. In this paper, parellel-connected linear induction motors are operated by one IGBT inverter under the different air gap condition so that the phase current characteristics are examined experimentally.
